I'm rather new to the Mahler symphonies, but found that I really like the beginning of the third movement. It seems to be the most re-played part of the symphony. As you look at page after page of the score, think of Mahler sitting at desk and writing each note and marking each notation. I wonder how much he could do on a productive day, how many pages.
Oh my gosh have fun this piece is incredible. Like, words cannot even describe how monumental this work is. Mahler makes an excellent case for the greatest composer who ever lived. If you haven't already, listen to all of his symphonies. They are all like this, especially his first and his ninth. Beyond description

I dont know how to explain this, but being a weeb and classical lover, i can imagine an entire anime movie with this symphony. Its gonna be about a guy whos a horrible person/boyfriend whos girlfriend eventually unalived herself (hence the first movement) and then he goes on a very emotional redemption arc to forgive himself (hence the rest of the symphony and the finale). Idk, i really could expand the story in more detail, but this will do

while Mahler 2 is his most well known symphony, people tend to overlook mahler's 9th symphony. I would argue that Mahler 9 is the greatest symphony of all time but it's understandable where you're coming from

Also, a person can say that Mahler's 9th symphony ending is better than the 2nd (which I don't agree with) because of the emotions they convey. Again, all is subjective and neither of our opinions are "correct"

The movements concept seems traditional with a slight modification, 1. Fast, 2. Slow, 3. has a lot in common with a scherzo or menuet, 4. new addition, quasi a song setting, 5. extensive finale.
I don't know, he was killed by a slow heart problem that prevented him from doing his favorite activities and had an unfaithful wife, lost a child and died earlier than he should have. I don't think anyone was looking over his shoulder. And if all that was part of God's "plan," then God has some pretty screwed up plans.

Who knows… For me it is a mood killer. And the third movement is again a dance, in minor, but still too similar to second one

The first movement is actually in very clear, neat, and organized sonata form. The second and third movements are both simple rondos. Fourth movement is plain and simple A/B. Fifth movement is a collection of clearly distinguishable musical episodes with genius recycling of themes and motifs. Theres plenty of form in mahler, If you disagree you just have no taste

There is no form in this piece. There is only form according to terrible theory textbooks that completely miss the point of why form exists and is required for music. Edit: also, people often forget that the musical material needs to actually fit into the form. Some material, alot of material, literally cannot be made into a sonata, a chorale, etc.

First and second symphonies are the best , his other symphonies are muddy and noisy
What about the Fourth? That doesn't even have trombones and tuba, so it calls for a smaller orchestra than the first two.
