    The price is outrageous for a produce that can help so many people and do so much good.

    Just got mine yesterday. I have just enough vision to be able to see one of the corners of the square using the outline laser pointer which is handy.
    However I found when outside in bright light I couldn’t see the laser at all but the device is so easy to point at the correct direction it wasn’t as much as a problem as I thought it would be. Really impressed me what is the ability to read Street signs and local notices.
    I feel much less expose using it then using my phone and seeing AI know I am forever grateful for that software. I think if using a Bluetooth earbuds with the organ reader you would probably not even be noticed using it in a large number of situations.

      Oh that’s great. Yes it is trial and error and I think for those of us who are totally blind it’s a learned skill to position any kind of camera in mid air to capture text at least 30cm or 12 inches away from you. I am still developing this skill 3 years in with the OrCam MyEye 2.

    This is something I’m considering (well actually the My Eye as it does more than read) as the one you fix on your glasses seems more discrete than waving my phone round trying to use the Seeing A.I app (which does pretty much the same job) but the parsimonious part of me feels that free app versus £3k bit of kit is a bit steep.

    Looks like a good product but the MINIMUM device investment is $1900 from their website with the top end device going for $3500. Why does everyone shy away from mentioning the price??

    • @stevefoxyorktheguidedog4350
      @stevefoxyorktheguidedog4350  2 года назад

      It’s definitely not cheap. I didn’t mention the price because it depends on where you are in the world. The price differs markedly depending on your location. Depending on your location different governments have programs that help people buy them as well. So it’s a bit complicated. If you were going to buy one. I would suggest getting a demonstration first. Using it for yourself and see if it’s going to work for you. It’s certainly a large investment. Hope you like the video. Have a great day!

    Hi Steve, great video, as always. I have the orcas my eye 2.0. I dont use it as often as I should/could, but it really is a great piece of kit. Im with you on the case issue, I thought there would have been something. So, when I go out and take that with me, I just pop it around my neck with the lanyard, as I wouldn't feel comfortable , as you say throwing it just in a bag. Extremely pricey - but I think overall is worth it for what it does.
    I hope all is good with you and your family
    Terry

    • @lynnenicholson6968
      @lynnenicholson6968 3 года назад +1

      Hi Terry. Why don’t you use it as often as you could? Is it because you find it awkward? I’m considering getting the one you pop on your specs as I don’t want to have to mess around picking something up and putting it away like I currently do with my phone when I’m using the Seeing A I app. It’s not top priority yet (a new oven certainly would be higher on my list as my current one is could do with replacing with a talking one to make my life easier).

      @LowVisionUKTerrysView 3 года назад +1

      @@stevefoxyorktheguidedog4350 thats a great idea re the glasses case. I have just been looking at mine and it actually fits quite nicely into a soft case that is currently for a monocular that the low vision clinic gave me last year. So i may start using that. We are good thank you - still getting- but safely x out and about

    • @LowVisionUKTerrysView
      @LowVisionUKTerrysView 3 года назад +1

      @@lynnenicholson6968 hi Lynne. Thats the one I have that fits snugly to glasses. The plain glass ones it comes with are ok actually, although I have the little magnet attachments to a few pairs of my eyeshield glasses too.
      The battery life isnt great at all - but thats easily remedied as you can charge it using a mobile phone power pack too. To be honest, i just keep forgetting to take it with me. But it is great for shopping etc not so good in dim
      Light, although it has a very bright light that you can turn on - but again that eats up the battery, and in a restaurant i feel quite embarrassed when suddenly this hugely bright light flashes on because its too dark for it to see the menu. People look up thinking im taking photos :-)

      No, it’s not a paid review. But I would highly recommend testing the all cam before buying. It does take time to see if it works for you. And it is definitely a large investment. It also depends on what you are trying to read with it. It can take practice to make it work the way you want to. Especially if like me, you have very little vision. All the best.
