This is how parkour started! These daredevils all helped to create the popular parkour sport many enjoy today. Back then this was considered highly unusual, but still drew attention and interest from numerous bystanders. This footage also features stunts from various motion picture films.

parkour being called parkour wasn’t a thing until the 80s/90s when david belle took ideas from military obstacle training and adapted them to urban environments and with the training mentality traceurs and freerunners use today. however the basic movements used in parkour have existed since forever
@@swegbruh199 Well, there was someone who developed modern military obstacle training ("parcours d'obstacles militaire"): Georges Hebert (1875-1957). David Belle's "parkour" is a revival of Hebert's "Method d'Mouvement Naturel". ....The middling influence was David Belle's father who trained on military obstacle courses near his orphanage in French Indochina in the '40s and '50s.
David Belle is willing to credit his father (a famous military fire fighter -- the military literally runs the Paris fire fighting service -- he's most famous for pulling down a Viet Cong banner off the steeple of Notre Dame cathedral while dangling from a helicopter), ...but he's not willing to credit the founder of the Natural Method of physical training -- Georges Hebert.
