My hobbies and interests either feed me or pay me, Collecting scrap metal (which turned from a hobby to my career), dumpster diving, gardening, raising livestock, foraging for food, hunting, and fishing. I can think of, honor, and thank Jesus while doing all of it.

Only when said worldly things become something you prioritize over God does it become evil. What the Bishop says about everything outside of Jesus being evil is because every single one of them has the potential to become a priority over Jesus, has a potential to become your Baal. The commodities the world nowadays offers is addictive, our responsibilities in this world nowadays has become something that we must fulfill bothe because of we need it to keep living as well as societal standards, most of the communities around us are not faithful to God. Looking at these, every single one of the run the risk of distracting us from the Lord. Therefore, it is not exactly wrong to call them evil. However, so long as we keep our eyes to God, then these things should not even be able to leave a scratch on us.

No, not at all. There is so much beauty to behold in this life. The Bishop is mainly concerned about the obvious sins plus other things that could take your mind off Jesus. We are supposed to be mindful in all things we do.
Life is a gift and to be enjoyed. Nothing is evil or good, however humanity will always be drawn to the evil aspect. For example technology can be good and bad, but its being used more for bad than good. When you use a phone app most likely there will be content that’s not considered good like a dating application for example. Is all about how you make use of things, and remembering we are all sinners which is why we go to Church weekly.
Things like music is good depending the usage you give, most of the gifts comes from Holy Spirit.
I think that things that are man made, we should discern. Man can manipulate programs and put his own ideas into something and steer us off course. Nature I feel is the most purest . Art and music can have evil in it but we can feel if it is off or not. ❤️

I game a lot so i dont focus on the evils of this world. i smoke to calm my nerves and i drink larger (3-4cans) most nights, this is my confession. im not sure if im sinning but God please know that this world is finite , i want to be with god for he is infinite and infinite love is abound. i long for it. this world makes me miserable. this is my truth. Jesus forgive me, forgive my enemies, forgive my family, friends and others, those who done evil against me forgive them for they do not know what t hey're doing father.

Exactly. I grew up taking lies like this one seriously and I ended up miserable, terrified, and confused. It pushed me away from Christianity. I hated myself for being creative or curious or imaginative, because none of those things are of Jesus, and therefore are evil. Nothing I tried could purge myself of creativity or curiosity, so I stewed in self loathing and misery. Eventually I renounced Christianity for being a bunch of liars.

Marriage, family, jobs and healthy hobbies, kept in balance are NOT evil.
I grew up taught that everything outside Jesus is evil, and I took it seriously. I was miserable, terrified, and confused. After staying up all night for many nights pondering what I was taught, I came to the logical conclusion that imagination, curiosity, and creativity are evil. I then concluded that I myself am evil for having those things, and I should hate myself for being unable to purge myself of imagination.

My hobbies are reading, feeding strays and writing penpal letters. God will judge me and he will see what is in my heart and I will accept what is. I’m insignificant in this world and I leave it up to God. You know what’s evil the Orthodox priest in my parish who ignored my calls to come see my mother who was fighting cancer. Out of 6 years he showed up one time to give her holy communion. He was more concerned with the outlandish donation left to our church to paint icons on the wall. My mother was dying and he was picking out new carpet samples. Although I am Orthodox Christian I am still a sinner and Jesus Will forgive me. I just feel bad for Jesus because he was truly selfless and this world is selfish. I’m thankful for Jesus and he will judge me, not the priest.

I love to make corded rosaries. That it what my hobby is. I'm a firm believer in praying the rosary. I would like to start making them and giving them to the homeless (along with a pamphlet on how to pray it).
You could give them food and shelter. Find help for them or create a way to give them something they need like fresh water and a way to get off the streets or live like an animal in the woods. Jesus did not give out rosaries to people with nowhere to live and no clothes and sick and nothing to eat. He took care of them.

I don't agree, with all due respect. A hobby of mine was to purchase broken things, fix them and resell them. That turned into a business and a career. That has absolutely nothing to do with God aside from him giving me the ability to do these things. So I don't think all hobby's are evil.

I once, as a teenager, back in the 80’s, expressed ridicule at the notion that the TV programme ‘eastenders’ was evil (a priest had expressed this opinion at that day’s mass) my father, who was a gentle, wise man replied that ‘perhaps it is evil’. Well, after 40 years of wandering away from faith, seeking happiness outside the Holy Sheepfold, and thank God coming back home, I can see just how evil all these social engineering ‘programmes’ were - and they are much much worse nowadays.

Drunkenness is a sin, not consuming wine. Vineyards are a constant theme in the entire bible. I think alcohol should be avoided but drinking is not a sin. I think my passion for cycling is more dangerous than the beer or 2 I have with a meal here and there.
I am not quite sure I follow this particular video. In what way are hobbies evil? Of course it's evil to do something sinful like get drunk or sleep around. But how can it possibly be evil to grow God's beautiful flowers in a garden? Or to praise Him with a musical instrument? Or to create beautiful artwork? Yes, there is a great deal of evil in the world, but not everything in the world is evil. If I have misunderstood something, I would appreciate an explanation.

Hobbies aren't inherently sinful but earthly pleasure are, and we are weak before temptations.
Everything that doesn't evolve around the Lord can become an idol for us. We can abuse it, worship it and then it became an idol that we put before Christ. To avoid it, it's better that everytime we are doing something, we do it with the intent that it's towards and for God. For example, the hobbies that you listed evolve around Christ so there is no way for us to be tempted by sin by doing them. Apart from idolizing being in a relationship with Christ rather than actually worshipping Him and obeying Him.

Because He blessed us with FREE WILL. That means, THE CHOICE to do right or wrong. And when we do the wrong, and repent and turn to HIM, He'll forgive us WITHOUT remembering the sins we've committed, not that we are good BUT because He is good and merciful. You're not being punished for being born. He has a plan for your life 😊. But because of what Adam and Eve did, after that, all of us were born sinners. Now, we need to work our way back to Him, by being born again (spiritual birth), repenting for our sinners and believing that Jesus Christ died for ALL OF US, that he rose again and that He's coming back for us ❤ 🔥🙌🏽🤗

So that also implies if you are a shitty person and believe in God your going to heaven but if you are a wonderful person and don't believe in God you are going to hell. Yea I dont know about you but there's clearly something missing about this and I know exactly what it is. If you were told the kingdom of heaven is within you than doesnt that mean its in everybody regardless of your beliefs and doesn't that also mean that heaven is now and meant to be lived while on earth? At every moment we are choosing heaven or hell but most aren't willing to put in the internal effort to experience heaven because they allow their doubt etc to consume them. Jesus said "Ye are Gods" but do people really believe that or do you think Jesus who was God in human form was lying?
If you really believed in Jesus, you would pursue a less sinful life and you would acknowledge the guilt of your actions. Those who claim Jesus without faith and a relationship with him, will not find their way.
I believe God uses this as like a parable I guess you could say. The scriptures show in so many areas the difference of believers and unbelievers. Sheep and goats, tares and wheat, the 2 thieves. The one chose to believed and the other kept persecuting. We are divided. We have been divided and will be divided until the very end.

If the full message is something like “endeavor to give glory to God for the enjoyable things you do WITH FAITH,” then I whole heartedly agree and say the “Amen.” All things done without thanksgiving and faith are indeed sin. But the way this clip (?) comes off seems more like a horrible burden to put on people. “Never have fun!” Sorry kids, wife, neighbors, family, you all are sinning by having fun and l will have no part in it. I was told as a child that everything outside Christ is evil, and it caused me to stumble. I thought that sports, creativity, curiosity, imagination, and any number of other things were evil, for being outside Jesus, and that I was therefore evil for having those traits. I hated myself and was miserable, terrified, and confused. I eventually rejected Christianity for being liars.

I don’t fully agree with this sermon that everything outside of Jesus is evil as god created everything and he gave us things to enjoy. Crocheting would become evil if it became an idol. If you spend more time crocheting than you do studying the word then you may have an issue. If god called you to give up crocheting but you could then it may be something “evil” in your life. I love cycling and I often have to wrestle with this hobby and my spiritual life.
Obviously crocheting isn't evil it's really just about not letting things take your focus away from Jesus because that can quickly turn into idolatry and then it is a sin. Besides if you have a personal relationship with Jesus you know he likes what you're doing giving the baby blankets away😂
