The United States men's national soccer team dropped its first 2022 World Cup friendly 2-0 against Japan at Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany on Friday morning.
Daichi Kamada got Japan on the scoreboard early in the match, notching a goal in the 24th minute. Team USA failed to generate much on offense in the following 50 minutes. In fact, 75 minutes into the friendly match against Japan, and the Americans had generated a mere three shots -- zero of which were on target.
Goalie Matt Turner led the USMNT on the defensive side, recording six saves and keeping the game close despite a barrage of shot attempts from Japan's offensive attack.The performance possibly cemented Turner's status as the team's starting keeper in Qatar.
However, in the waning minutes of the match, Japan bested Team USA on the counter as Kaoru Mitoma dribbled past Reggie Cannon to score a right-footed goal in the 88th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. Yuta Nakayama was credited with the assist.
The Americans play Saudi Arabia in the second World Cup friendly on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

The only mistake Japón has got forever is that they , yes themselves, don’t trust their players, and many of them end up worshiping soccer’s stars from different countries.

The problem is their teachings about football and their culture, footbal in Japan isn´t popular, fathers don´t carry their childrens to train from early ages, so they level always is low, and even if they would do it, they don´t have anyone who could train them well. That is why Japan will never win a World Cup.
@@miniolution soccer isnt super popular but some fathers do teach their son soccer. Although I see way more Japanese fathers teach maritial arts or baseball to their sons than soccer.

Their fans always has a full house attendance in their J League and even the Asian Champions League matches..and their ultras and supporters are one of the best loudest in Asia as well... Give them more time and they might have a shot to win the World Cup...

Japan sensed a winnable game and a beatable opponent and took full advantage. That's what good teams do. US wasn't really in this game.
Yes, Japan is a very good example of what it means to have an very efficient team approach, one that compensates for most of the lacking in boundless individual brilliance like what Brazil has.
Brazil has so many brilliant individual players, whenever the head coach could get a good plan going, it's very hard to beat it. But if the team unraveled, like the 7-1 loss to Germany, then you could see, even individual brilliance didn't do much.... because as a TEAM goes, Germany is very similar to Japan, except it is organized at an even higher level, composed of many world class players, too.
The problem with the US is that it is a team full of young players. They are all very good, but the experience, tactics, and strategies don't exist among the players, yet, as a cohesive team.

I am Japanese. Certainly, the quality of the players is high and there are many expectations in Japan. On the other hand, compared to European countries, there is a big difference, especially in speed and game development. Also, Japan lacks clear-cut tactics and discipline. Even in Japan, there are many people who say that we are still no match for Europe. Football cannot be won by the quality of players alone.
I have watched a few Korean games, and while the Japanese seem to be better at defense, the Koreans are more powerful in attack, and there are many occasions when they seem to be able to score. Also, Koreans look bigger and stronger than Japanese in terms of physical strength.

USA is still qualifying for the round of 16, Wales is literally last in Nations league group, England lost to a Italy B team yesterday. Iran is USA'S toughest opponent in that group. Japan are a underrated team, especially when they were leading a prime Belgium team 2-0 in 2018.
