Yes you can use a spong filter that can support the bio load, if you want to add a top filter make sure that the power head just sucks in the water and pushes it to the filter box and that the power head doesn’t disperse water.
Your tips about filter is wrong.. the best filter for all kinds of fish is a submersible pump that is rated double the power that is recommended & also an overhead sump with a mechanical & biological filter.. there are many brands of submersible water pump without wave maker or without extra air pump that will cause too much noise in the water.. for example is the aquaspeed a2000, a3000, a4000 water pump.. sponge filter with air pump is the most useless filter that I have used & it takes a lot of space inside the tank then the waste & bacterias just stays inside the tank when you remove the sponge filter most of the bacterias & all kinds of dirts will just removed from the filter & mixed again in the water.. the only true reason why most fish keepers keep using sponge filter is to conserve electricity bill & it is the cheapest filter to buy.. Just imagine the fish is you.. would you like to have a room that have all your poops & trashes just inside your room & you can always smell your poops & all the rotten wastes are just inside your room instead of putting it all in a garbage bag outside your house.. the overhead sump is like putting all your wastes & poops in a trash bag & putting it outside your house..

currently feeding him wild probio for past 4 months but my fish has bloating issue which leads the fish unstable at balancing by self sometimes, also not much of visible changes except development of overcross pearls by a little in past 4 months
Base on my experience I would say humpy head any day, and quantity depends on fish to fish i really cant say about that feed as much as he can eat in 2-3 mins and remove the excess food this is what i do most of the times..

its common for them to drop there heads usually happens after a huge water change or the fish is under stress but after the fish is completely settled it does'nt happen that ofter. But its quite common
I have set 28 c tempreature in heater is it ok for my flowerhorn because my flower horn body is growing but head is not pumping like it sould be ....... ps --i have a good quality fish. Pls reply.

There are 3 reasons why I don’t keep substrate in my tanks, if the substrate is small and it fits in the mouth of your fish there’s a chance he might swallow it and the second one is that it might damage there head and third is so that it’s easy for me to clean the tanks since I need to do regular water changes saves time as will

Maybe its a cross of srd and a thai silk, not sure brother.
Can you tell me which scrubber are use using to clean the glass. Is there is any chance of scratches from the scrubber ?
I’m using filter spong from an old internal filter and my tanks is about 2 years old and has no scratches on it.

If your looking only for head growth I’d recommend getting okiko platinum but for overall body growth and head growth go for humpy head

I’ve found that they love to dig and toss substrate around. Any reason why you run bare bottom tanks?
It slows down they're growth. If you actually wanna groom your flowerhorn don't use substrates.

Depends on the fish, just throw in some pellets let him eat for 3-4 mins and remove the remaining food then you’ll get basic idea about his appetite

never had problems in the past brother.

When they get aggressive they eat the part of spong make sure u don't have exposed spong filter it's not safe when they consume it
