Love these guys. Wish nothing but the best for them and all my friends. Some have done really well. Some of us are still growing. The future of music in America sits here. Love to Sugarland and Little Big Town... JB The patch to the CMT Awards, live without it.
Okay, little story, When I was little I LOVED Sugarland, to the point my parents actually took me to one of their concerts. I don't remember much of that but, I remember being upset because they wouldn't play this song because it was my absolute favorite. They never played it and I realized now it was because it was a collab (and maybe a cover, not totally sure). But anyways this is my all-time favorite song they've sung because it sounds fun and has a meaning. So glad I could finally find it again.
"They're the hottest group on the market, including Sugarland." literally means "They are better than you." Something tells me English and writing isn't your forte?
I was watching the video for this song when they performed it on the 2008 CMT Music Awards and this one was the next one to play. This was pretty good considering it was done live. The only thing missing was Jake Owen. I saw them in concert shortly after the 2008 award show and we left early thinking it was nearly over. I called a local radio station sometime later and talked about the concert and mentioned that I was bummed that they didn't do this song. I think the DJ I talked to was there, too, but I'm not sure. Either way, she knew they had indeed performed this before that concert was over. I was so mad at whoever decided we would leave early. That wasn't the first time either. The year before, my dad took me and my oldest sister to see the rock band Bon Jovi in Nashville, Tennessee. We had a hotel room, but my dad still took the advice of the guy who directed us as to where to park by leaving early. That made me and my sister miss Bon Jovi's biggest hit "Livin' On A Prayer." UGH! If concert-going ever gets back to normal, the next time I see an act that definitely had a huge hit that they would likely leave until the end of the concert, I'm demanding that we stay.
audio wasn't great(seemed like a cellphone recording)but they kill this song every time they do it. there are groups that really shine together, this is an example. they are all excellent at what they do.
The original was written and sung by the UK group Dream Academy who reached the top 10 billboard charts in the 80s. Check out their version it's so much better. Dario G borrowed the music from this song for his global hit Sunchyme which is pretty brilliant also. Check them out good stuff.
Just because there are artists who cover other artists' songs and you already claim that we run out of songwriters. Look around. Research and open your eyes and ears. There will always be cover artists, but there will also always be original songwriters. There are so many artists and bands coming out every now and then with original albums and songs. The Killers, Coldplay, Yukon Blonde, fun., oh, the list goes on and on...
There's enough room in the world for this version or 1000 more, but I have to agree with you that this falls short of the original. It's a very simple, atmospheric song, and to me it doesn't fit the country style. I don't blame them for singing it, though, and I'm glad they introduced it to another generation.
FredericaBimble. You were right. Anybody that has any feeling for the original will realise that this is a terrible saccharin version. It's american commercialism of the very worst kind. A total travesty of the feeling that went into the original. It's fake Disney nostalgia rather than the real feelings that make the original great. Every one that down voted your comment should be ashamed.
The mind reels. Yea, yea, I know most will jump on this comment but wow, they really squeezed the emotion out of this song and gave it a big ol' flush down the drain. These singers are 'good' but they have no idea what the song is about. If they knew, they'd give a lot more respect and not sing like they're happy to hear their own voices. Sad. No matter if it's a tribute or not. You've got to feel the song or don't bother.
Rebecca Pant Awww Rebecca thank you. However you really shouldn't feel the need to apologize to me. We are free women of the USA and each within our rights to express and appreciate our individual preferences. That voice just rankles my nerves.
When a band/group/singer covers a song, its not out of laziness or lack of ideas. Its that individual or group honoring both the original artist and the song itself. Its a tribute, and its keeping the song and the artist alive by playing it for a.new generation. The artists performing the cover will still put out original music.
This video gives proof to the fact, that Country music sucks. it's a shame that a music genre has to steal from rock and pop, to be cool. And they've failed quite miserably.
I came to this video not really haven listened to any of the groups involved. I won't be going out of my way to listen to them again in the future. This was just really bad. Like karaoke night bad.
The very first time I heard @LittleBigTown, they were singing this song. I have been a fan ever since. One of my favorite songs 😃❤️💜💙

It's a cover from The Dream Academy from 1986.
What a beautiful song
They should redo this exact one!! Same parts too
THANKS SUGARLAND FOR HELPING LITTLE BIG TOWN GET KNOWN, THEY ARE THE HOTTEST GROUP ON THE MARKET!!! INCLUDING SUGARLAND!!!!!!
"They're the hottest group on the market, including Sugarland." literally means "They are better than you." Something tells me English and writing isn't your forte?
So cool thanks
Love this song
GREAT video. Thanks for sharing it.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE BETWEEN LBT & SL.
1 of my favorite ;)

That's so good
@pgrich7 you could always try the original version!
Smokin' great.
Love it
audio wasn't great(seemed like a cellphone recording)but they kill this song every time they do it. there are groups that really shine together, this is an example. they are all excellent at what they do.
Nice tribute to the Dream Academy.
I love me some Jennifer Nettles!!!
anyone can cover anything live. its a tribute not an insult.
This version sucks.
Karen Fairchild is by far the best looking woman on that stage. Love the song!!!
Given their nationality it's a tough job to replicate original....they don't do a bad job just the same.
@kjlundgreen no it's Dream Academy around '82
1986.One of my favs.
Much better than the original

bingbong
Also worth noting the song is a tribute to the late, great Nick Drake.
yes it is
i cant hear them....

The chorus is awful.
Ain't this great?
@kjlundgreen Sorry didn't see your next comment. Interesting.
not a patch on the original sorry
Kristian Merrill Bush love u
Jennifer Nettles trying to sing over everyone else as always.

Go War A .
Love this song - but not Sugarland. The over the top twang is unpleasant.
Sorry that her voice is too twangy for you... It's not fake tho. Jennifer's voice is BEAUTIFUL!
Rebecca Pant Awww Rebecca thank you. However you really shouldn't feel the need to apologize to me. We are free women of the USA and each within our rights to express and appreciate our individual preferences. That voice just rankles my nerves.
@@imPerrenial that voice gives me goosebumps! Sooo good
I'm a huge country fan, it's my favorite genre in music. However, this was not good. Maybe because I love Dream Academy's version the most, idk.
No I love LBT more thin all yal do OK
It's OK. But all the singers combined don't come close to Kate St John in vocal ability. Too raucous.
Little Big Hair
Why does everyone cover other bands songs..we've clearly run out of true songwriters..sad.

Decent but not great as the original😊
