    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Tyrone (Marlon Wayans) gets arrested after the limousine he is erupts in gunfire.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on the novel by Hubert Selby Jr., this gritty drama concerns four people trapped by their addictions. Harry (Jared Leto), and his best friend Tyrone (Marlon Wayans) are impoverished heroin addicts living in Coney Island, NY, while Harry's girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) is a fellow addict trying to distance herself from her wealthy father. Harry dreams of scoring a pound of smack, from which he could make enough money to open a clothing boutique with Marion, but so far he and his friends can barely scrape by supporting their own habits. Meanwhile, Harry's mother Sara (Ellen Burstyn), who spends her days watching television, is told she has the opportunity to appear on her favorite game show; wanting to lose enough weight to fit into her favorite red dress, she visits a sleazy doctor who gives her a prescription for amphetamines. Soon Sara has a drug habit of her own that is spiraling out of control. Requiem for a Dream was directed by Darren Aronofsky, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Selby; it was Aronofsky's second feature, following his acclaimed independent film Pi.

Marlon Wayans is similar to Adam Sandler where he’s actually a terrific dramatic actor, but doesn’t always go for those roles. So much potential

willy565 Fun Fact: in the early stages of Batman Returns (1992) they were going to have Robin the script and Wayans was cast as Robin. But Tim Burton came in and felt their was no reason for Robin to be in the movie (because Tim wouldn't do Batman Returns unless he got free reign of control of the movie), then when Tim Burton was about to make a 3rd Batman movie (called Batman Continues then later changed to Batman Forever) Wayans was cast again as Robin and actually got in costume. But after the some-what negative reaction (from parents) of Batman Returns Tim left the project and Joel Schumacher later took over and apparently Wayans was paid a lot of money to not be in the movie after reading the new script. Though he never got to be Robin, their is concept art of what the costume could've been

@@newleaf1534 Right after they get ambushed in the limousine it immediately says "FALL" which is basically when things really start going to Hell for these characters. It is meant to depict a year in their lives, with Spring being nice. Summer being better. Fall being the beginning of the end and Winter is when they are actually in Hell. Not hot like Hell, in fact it was brutally cold, but it was Hell all the same.

What really stands out to me about this scene is how Marlon’s character (Ty) genuinely appreciates when this “local kingpin” tells him he’s doing a good job “coming up quick”, how he’s loyal etc. You can tell just within these seconds that even though his character had a mother he was still looking for validation in life, (possibly from males or the world 🌎 he lives in) even if it was from a “darker side of life” he’s looking for a place in his life. & just like that a brief moment of joy turns into sadness/fear. Truly remarkable film 🎥

Reminds me of that great line in the underrated Ridley Scott ‘Robinhood’ movie about the unlikelihood of getting paid money owed by a ‘dead king.’ Tyrone is moving up in the crime world from a drug kingpin, which is ALWAYS risky because (as Tony Soprano said), the most likely ‘end’ for a drug/mob boss is to be murdered or go to prison.
Even once he is let out of jail after being picked up at the end of this scene, there’s no one for Ty to go to regain his promotion. He was given it by a now dead king.

It’s such an Astonishing, Powerful, Emotional, Heartbreaking feeling when a movie like ‘Requiem For A Dream’ (2000) can make you bawl your eyes out, and make you think this deep. From the editing, sound effects, acting & special effects...this film brings the effects and aftermath of drug abuse and addiction right into our eyes, since we can’t truly understand how terrible it is unless we are shown in a way like this. It’s a mistake most of us keep making since once we do it once we can’t stop.

I've always found it sort of strange that they made the main drug lord a deaf guy. I assume that's how it is in the book (sadly I started but never finished it). We never really see their connections, Tyrone references a few characters we never see (Angel, Sal). This is the only scene of the film that goes beyond a montage to show their interaction with their suppliers. Unless you count the supermarket I suppose.
