  • Simple Harmonic Motion is a very Important topic for JEE Main as well as JEE Advanced and every year question is always asked from SHM. There are some questions which have very long solutions if handled using traditional approach but with use of Taylor's theorem such problems can be solved in seconds.
Watch this video by Ashish sir to understand application of Taylor's theorem in solving problems of SHM for JEE.

Even if we follow the traditional method , we need not write the equilibrium position. The force can be simplified by using (1+x)^n = 1+nx for the second part of the Force .Then put the coefficient of x in the final equation as the constant and hence calculate the time period.

DOUBT -- Is The Motion in 2nd Qs really SHM ??
REASON -- Sir in the 2nd question of ball charges & spring the net force on ball is NOT directly proportional to displacement. Hence the motion is not SHM & hence we cannot use the time period equation of SHM
Pls correct me if I am wrong or if I am missing something
