It baffles me also. Most have some form of government assistance. Welfare, SSDI food stamps and never have monies for lawyers, transportation to get a job, rent, and court fees but have monies for all these drugs.

He's playing word games with the wrong Judge. I don't think I ever remember seeing this Judge even smile once, Mr. Regier has gotten closer to smiling more than this Judge.
I have dealt with people like him in my previous line of work (now retired). This is all an act. Sometimes it works and other times as with this judge it doesn't. I can guarantee he works and is paid under the table along with being supported by his pregnant girlfriend.
Id hold him on contempt for the blatant refusal to answer questions properly.
Keep him on bond, he doesnt need any money to pay bills or leave the house. He cant buy anything anyway. You dont need gas money, you arent driving anywhere.
I hope that the County Attorney’s office referred this case to the IRS.
Every answer is evasive but when the judge "asks" him "you have trouble answering simple yes or no questions don't you" (which was really more of a statement than a question), the guy quickly answers "no sir." Unfuking believable!

Where there's a will, there's a way. He has plenty of resources at his disposal.

Judge should have kept him in custody only released for appointments for his injuries since his stepfather has informed probation he is not living where he should. He even said he is living with his girlfriend not mother.

Too bad people can't divorce themselves from the misconception that parents are responsible for their adult children's behavior (good or ill). This man is responsible for his own decisions.
How did this kid make it to 27 years of age without working a proper job, being able to remember a simple appointment date, being able to get himself basic medical care, or know enough to file his taxes? I'm surprised he hasn't set himself on fire trying to microwave popcorn! No wonder the step-father has had enough of him. What is more worrying is that this utter screw-up has now got a baby on the way. No, everyone DOESN'T agree we have to pay income tax. There's a surprisingly large number of Americans with sophisticated arguments that the federal income tax is a) voluntary, and b) illegal. Many libertarians will present detailed reasons the 16th Amendment was never properly ratified. There's also an extreme right-wing tax-resistance movement that has included fatal shout-outs with law enforcement.
The sovereign citizen movement believes we don't owe income tax. Part of their script is that they don't know when or where they were born cz they can't remember that event. This defendant hinted at that when the judge asked if he was born in this country. "As far as I know," was his answer.
The sovcit movement is growing, especially among criminals. It would not be surprising if he's been taught that he doesn't owe taxes. But he's very cagey and seems to feel it's in his interest to provide as little information as possible about his life and thoughts.

They use, delay, make fun of, abuse, always receive sympathy but the people who are damaged by Original crimes, subsequent crimes, and as they escalate their criminal resume, more and more people get harmed. We all keep paying in every way for these people and they are always given preference to be set free to do more egregious crimes.

I am completely dumbfounded. How can any adult in this country not know that you have to pay taxes? I remember from a very young age my father telling me, there are two things you can depend on, death and taxes. Even if he didn't have a real job where he got a W2, he would have heard about taxes. I can't imagine any adult not knowing this. I suspect he intentionally does everything under the table to avoid paying taxes and he's a freakin liar.
If your income is low enough, you don't.
My brother wasn’t paid under the table. He received the proper forms every year but due to laziness and depression, he never filed taxes. It eventually caught up with him.
@@cparks1000000 Most people who have income low enough still pay taxes on their paychecks, but they get it all back at the end of the tax season because their income was too low. So even that's not an excuse not to know you are supposed to pay taxes.

That said, I doubt the government would have cared had I continued since they've always owed me instead of it being the other way around.

If you are receiving free representation and are fou s guilt you should be billed for the ENTIRE cost of your representation. Can't afford to pay it back, then they should do community service at the standard minimum wage rate being credited to their bill until its paid in full. I agree. It's disgusting that the taxpayers have to continue to pay legal fees over and over again because they don't want to work but continue to break the laws.
I agree with the principle, but in practice I'm not sure getting them to do community service to pay their legal bill will actually work. It costs quite a lot to administer the community service scheme and the work they are doing is probably not worth anything near minimum wage. The taxpayer might actually end up worse off doing it that way.
But the taxpayers still have to pay the salary for the people who arrange community service and supervise people doing it.
But I guess are tax money would be better served paying for more education, judging by the weird-ass typos in your comment.
Under the 13th Amendment, you can be forced to work in punishment for a crime. So, auction off these folks' indentures for a time long enough to repay their debts to society and their victims. The person or corporation buying their indenture would be responsible for their room, board and basic medical care. Once you work off that debt, you're free.
@@ostlandr Who would buy the indentures? Paying for their room, board and medical care would cost more than minimum wage for someone that they would probably refuse to hire for a minimum wage job. That's why people on minimum wage need welfare in order to pay for their own room, board and medical care - minimum wage is not a living wage.
