Just last month I figured out that the clutch pedal safety switch in my 1988 Mazda B2200 truck had occasional high resistance (used ohmmeter) when pedal was pushed, causing intermittent lack of cranking. I removed the switch, opened it up, cleaned out old grease with a swab, put it back together and into the truck, now works fine.

Nice video but i would have liked to see you test the Switches (old and new) just to see how it's done and to be sure it's not the wiring harnes thats defective.Thanks.
You can simply use a paper clip as a "jumper" to close the circuit of the wire harness (as I pointed out in the video at 3:18 ). If the car starts with the temporary jumper wire in place, you know that the harness is good. If you have a tester you can check the pedal switch for continuity by probing the two prongs while manipulating the contact plunger in and out. The tester will respond accordingly if the pedal switch is good. You will get no response if the switch is bad. Thanks for the input. Have a good one!
Most cars use this type of device for safety, however if your clutch seems to have gotten harder to depress than when your car was newer, it could be a sign of wear on the clutch system itself and not a problem with this device.
My santro xing car, model 2014, suppose to be running in the first gear, I want to shift the gear to 2nd. For that I apply on clutch. That same time car engine is geting off. Not always, sometimes it happens. Then if the car is standing in a little slope on the road, I can't get the break. My power steering is also get very hard to move. The car is going back. Only hand break is saving me from a back end hit. What is the reason for this. Now this is my 2nd workshop i tried to solve this problem. Still the problem continue. What is the solutions for this? Now someone told me that there is a switch near the air filter. May be it is getting cracked. Is it right thing? Please help me.
Though it's impossible to make a comprehensive analysis of your car's issues based only on the symptoms you mentioned, I can give you an idea of potential causes that could contribute to these issues. One possibility is clutch-related problems, such as inadequate clutch fluid levels or improper clutch disengagement. Additionally, idle air control valve (IACV) or throttle body issues might be at play, impacting engine performance and causing stalling. It's also crucial to consider the possibility of a vacuum leak affecting the air-fuel mixture. Electrical issues, particularly within the ignition system, sensors, or wiring, could be contributing to the stalling problem. In relation to the power steering difficulties, examining power steering motor if it has EPS, or fluid levels and the condition of the power steering pump, is advisable. As for the suggestion about a switch near the air filter potentially being cracked, it's important to identify the specific component and its function. However, for a comprehensive and accurate diagnosis, it is highly recommended to consult with a qualified mechanic or visit your car's service center for a thorough inspection. Demonstrating the issue during a test drive may help the mechanic better understand and address the problems you are facing. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Thankyou for your reply. Now the mechanic shootout the reason for this issue. He told me that a IAC valve near air filter get cracked. It is related with clutch. Can you explain that what is this IAC valve function?
@@MrRoyantonym no problem. The IAC valve, or Idle Air Control valve, is an important component in the engine control system of a car. While the IAC valve itself is not directly related to the clutch, it plays a significant role in controlling the engine's idle speed. Its primary function is to regulate the amount of air that bypasses the throttle plate when the throttle is closed. If the IAC valve is cracked or malfunctioning, it can disrupt the engine's ability to maintain a proper idle speed, leading to issues like stalling or rough idling. While the IAC valve itself doesn't directly engage with the clutch, its proper functioning contributes to overall engine performance. If the IAC valve is cracked, it can affect the engine's ability to operate smoothly during clutch engagement and disengagement by allowing unmetered air to enter, potentially leading to stalling issues, especially when shifting gears. I suggest you replace the cracked IAC valve as soon as possible to restore proper engine idle control and address the issues you've been experiencing.
Nice and informative,it is better to bypass this system.I don’t know why manufacturers are making cars complicated? So as it fails and users will come running for repairs at authorized workshops and they will mint money fooling around them.
I agreed until this stupid system saved me couple of times when I had my car jacked doing some diy work in my garage and I had to start the engine and I forgot completely about I had it the gear engaged in 1st or Reverse haha avoiding me a lot of headaches

Is it the same mechanism for a Citroen c4 picasso? I have to really press hard on clutch now to start car.

Will this switch make the car shift drifrent or no

Even the immobiliser system is a scam ,they get bust anytime anywhere. With this system in place cars still get stolen in a matter of few minutes.
