You made the right decision to sell. You still have projects to work on, including your house building project. The thing is, none of us is getting any younger. What seemed easy 15 years ago becomes more difficult the older we get. We suffer from random aches and pains. We are usually more anxious about financial matters as increasingly the money we spend has to come out of our own pockets, no more relying on working parents to help out occasionally financially. In the Somers case Bert naturally wants to see more of his children as their teenage years are all over so quickly. Coldfoot looks completely differently at this time of the year! Very inviting, with lots of greenery.
My favorite part of your channel is your "chats from the porch". It just feels so personal and friendly. It's like you're my close friends or neighbors just stopping by for a visit. I hope you will always keep them in your videos. Take care and have an awesome summer.
I love the raw honesty. You are going through what we all face at a point in our lives and it is ever changing. May we learn from the hindsight as we move forward. Always remembering what is important to us and striving to achieve our goals.
Love watching you guys!! Burt and Jessica, I know we don't see it all but I love watching your life and marriage. Thank you so much for sharing with us!! God bless you and your family!! ❤❤❤
All the times I’ve spent in coldfoot and never went in that visitor center. Now I wish I had. Lots of changes since this channel began, happy to be along for the journey. Great inspiration in every video.
Happy Fathers' Day, Burt! I've been watching you guys for years, and yall definitely made the right choice. We as well own our business for about 7 years and are now considering selling it. It takes so much time and our children are getting order. Great content for sure!
We sold our business 2 years ago. I has a heart attack and our son passed away. Spend as much time with loved ones as you can. You are a smart person with a great family no matter what you will be ok. ❤❤
We sold our business last fall after our daughter passed away. I couldn’t do it without her. While I miss our business- the guests (we had a B&B) especially, I do not miss the stress of “running” it. I am still mired in my grief but I am beginning to find joy in little things. I am so glad to be a part of “the happy people”.
How has the deep declutter going? Have not seen much? 😊 Wise decision Bert! ❤ Yes, we all need money to survive, but being ever-present for your family is worth far more than silver and gold. May God continue to bless you folks. 🙏
We drove through North Pole and Fairbanks last week. Sadly, we didn’t get a chance to be there but one day. We left the camper in Fairbanks and went to Chena Hot Springs and Cold Foot. I had wanted to spend more time there but with all the road construction on the Dalton Hwy and reservations in Denali, we just had enough time to get our bearings before having to leave. We just got off a Wildlife Cruise at Homer and I had to let you know about all the compliments I got from the Fireweed toggle hoodie I wore today. I wore an older one because I love the blue color and it was so warm, even with all the wind and fog today. I advertised for you so hopefully, you’ll get some orders. I also wore the fleece leggings and socks so we definitely need more of those for fall/winter. Happy Birthday Audrey! God Bless!
Hiya guys 💯 you made the right choice. My husband sold his business after five years. We made good money but boy the stress and not being with the family was too much God bless ya ❤
It’s good to have a choice! 🥺As someone disabled with autoimmune illnesses and secondary by crippling anxiety brought on by Autism/ADHD, being unable to work sucks. I would love to have realized my career and property retired. Feel blessed to have the choice 😊
Happy Monday, SOMERS. I hope you’re having a good day. Summer continues on. Much love and support to you SOMERS on staying together. And for Audri, happy birthday to you. Enjoy your special day. Your kids are growing up so fast. Where do the years go? They’re growing like crazy. I hope you SOMERS have a good day and good summer. Continue on your road on getting the gold play button
Just wanted to let you know your videos helped me cope with my anxiety and depression two years ago, and here I am again feeling down and I was very grateful to see a new video. 🙏🏼
I am a retired mechanical contractor and I know where you are coming from. After selling the business I to went very chill mode for about a year and a half and then went back to work part/full time under my own terms and schedule for about 6 yrs then fully retired. Health and family needs to cherished.
You’re such a beautiful family. Love your priorities. Love your Christian values. Much love!! From the lady that met you on Valentine’s Day at Costco parking lot visiting her family all the way from Missouri!! ❤
Family is the most important thing in life. Bert...you will find your own happy medium between work and family time. Plus you have plans for building affordable housing. Do it on your own schedule and enjoy. Happy belated Father's Day.
My wife and I owned our business for 33 years. Money was great but the stress level was up there. Always on a deadline. We are retired now and living good because of what we went through. No regrets. Hang in there Bert
I had to retire at 50 it was rough but I would work part time when I could I am now 66 as of yesterday and alone it gets to you but I have lot of regrets I wish I had spent lot more time with my kids as they were growing up had more patients once these times are gone their gone you can't go back and do it over. God bless you God bless all the happy peoples.

I've taken time off for 3 weeks to help and it seems to me nothing I do is good enough. I'm praying to God because I feel like everything going wrong with life,my happiness and marriage. I've talked to my pastor and he says patience because my mother is getting older.and she's used to doing everything by herself.she has to be in control of it all. Hey Bert and Jessica, good morning from Mississippi... love watching the videos with your family in the Great North. I think you are doing the right thing with giving up the business and going into consulting. When you run a business a lot of times you cannot think of the customers as more than where you get paid from. By working independently with your former partner you can put more effort into doing a better job for your clients. Besides, if you want to, you can still get back into it once the kids have left the house... Have a good one!!
The secret as you know, for every employee your stress goes up. Just being your own boss is an amazing feeling. You put your selves there. Enjoy it all
Dont mean to alarm you Bert but have you checked the nodule directly under your right ear on your neck. Every time you turned your head towards Jessica I noticed it protruding. Hope its nothing but just letting you know.🙏💖
I also noticed it, though it also sounds like he may have a cold, his voice sounds different too. I do hope he sees this and at the very least, takes note of it. Swollen glands in the neck when throat issues are going on are common of course. But, really good call at noticing that. So many wouldn't, OR wouldn't want to mention it. We all just care about our Somers' Family so much tho. ❤ I'm loving this Beautiful, Sunny weather we're finally having in Wasilla too! 🔆 Sending all the Prayers and Love y'all's way!!🙏✝️💞🌼🪻
@@KTocci66 well it's the curse of being in healthcare. You tend to notice things others don't. And you're right it could just be a swollen gland but it's worth checking into.
My husband and I were able to come to Alaska a number of years ago, before he passed away. Our Grandson and family were living there. It was so Beautiful. We got to go up in the mountains. Wow what a ride! May God continue to Bless your family. 😂
I really enjoy your videos. Living in Indiana is so different. Here's my question, do you have lightening bugs? They were out tonight and although it was 90 plus today there was a nice breeze tonight. I'm such a little girl at heart so the lightening bugs made me think of growing up on the farm. My heart was full.

It sounds like you found the best of both worlds so to speak. You are doing what you love doing on a part time basis and your spending more quality time with the family, that's awesome! Looks like nice weather for you guys. We are under heat advisory until Friday here in Southern Michigan. The humidity is horrible. I wanted warm weather but not the humidity. Anyway hope you have a wonderful week!

I’m away from home most weeks Monday to Friday working an average of 65hours a week, I’ve been driving 44 ton trucks around the U.K. for 25 years , if I knew then what I know now I wouldn’t have started, wish I could spend more time at home , but it’s paying for a nice home etc and not a bad lifestyle, you do what you’ve got to do .
I like how you seem to listen to and take in your wife's perspective. Good husband.
