It's one thing to sit in your house and craft but to do it in front of the whole world is BRAVE. You exposed your frustrations, mistakes, and your beautiful art. You are a talented crafter and I have subscribed. Let's go and let's grow!!❤ Sometimes it's okay to leave in footage that you think might be monotonous like casting multiple moulds or painting. It's kinda relaxing to watch. Also, during that time you didn't just play random music you were actually speaking to us and we got to hear what was on your mind and learn more about you. I personally don't much click onto short videos. Anywho, I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us. Blessings to you and congrats on your channel. Girl, you GOT this!🎉
Thank you so much for all of that! It really is hard to do but I'm getting more comfortable! And yes I prefer talking over music ;) I know I always appreciate when creators show me the mistakes so I know the pitfalls to avoid! Hope you enjoy my future content! Thank you for subscribing!
Freezer is my best tip for the clay. You can leave it in there until it is solid enough to literally fall out of the mold. I remember living in Yuma and it was very hard to feel the Christmas spirit there. Living in South GA is only slightly easier for that. Good luck with your channel. Cute projects.
Just found your channel today and I am enjoying the content so far. I feel you are a little picky about how you do things like I am. It is nice to see someone else like me lol. I enjoy see the care you take in what you do. Don't change or apologize for it. Love to see what you come up with in the future. I will give you a hint on how I get in the Christmas mood to do crafts. I tend to watch Christmas movies and listen to Christmas music and keep the temperature a little cooler where I am creating things. I also tend to create things more in the evening since it is darker outside and that seems to set the mood for me. lol. It has always worked for me but I don't live where it gets quite as hot as you. I give you Koodo's for trying your best in those swelting temperatures. Thanks again for sharing. Take care, and happy crafting.
Thank you! Yes I'm hard headed and try to wait to watch Christmas movies until Thanksgiving day! It's always been a tradition! Thank you for your support! I appreciate it! Hopefully I don't disappoint you!
Your frustrations spoke to my heart 😅 I can certainly empathize and struggle the same. I’m also a “clean as you go” kind of person in my crafting and cooking 😊 So good to see I’m not alone. Beautiful work. I’ve had to put projects aside and return to them later with a different perspective. I’ve had to learn when to say “complete.” Most importantly for me is to keep it fun and not take myself too seriously. There are no real mistakes and most things can be revised with paint, a good glue and some wet wipes. ❤
I really want to be REAL on my page so I don't mind showing the frustrations I go through. And YES I have to learn to stop and make sure I enjoy! Thank you for commenting! I hope you enjoy the content still in the works ;)
I did the same moulds with resin and they were so easy! No breaking and just pour 2 parts into a cup. I got the clear epoxy resin which has to set up overnight but they turned out beautifully. Easy to paint too. Good luck with your channel ❤
THANK YOU! I have resin that I can demould in 4 hrs that I think I'm going to try! This was just an attempt to recreate what I saw in my head LOL! FAIL in my opinion! I'll try again! I don't get discouraged often! I'll keep trying! TY for supporting my new channel!
@@handmadetreasuresbytari2976 Awesome! Thank you for your support! Let me know if you need anything else or if you need any tips ;) Hoping to go revamp my booth in the next week or so and add my Paint Couture!
Thank you for sharing your mistakes. That really does help all of us and I know you're new and that's frustrating but I am proud of you for sharing the mistakes. I thought I had was maybe using a paint wash rather than the wax to get the result you were looking for. Because then all you have to do is dab it with a paper towel and you don't have to do a lot of rubbing? Love your projects. They turned out great.
Thank you for saying that! I find it an asset to see the mistakes so that I don't make them lol! Plus I don't want anyone thinking I'm perfect or just breeze through these projects! I appreciate the support!
Have you tried IOD clay? It’s honestly the best. Easy to use. You may get better results if you glue your castings to your surface as soon as you demold them. A thin coat of creamy glue and be sure to cover the entire back. Keep your eye on it for about 15 minutes and push down any parts that may not want to stay down. This method will allow less shrinkage and cracking. Allow to dry and have at it. Appreciate your video and hope your feeling better 😊
👋🌻 just found you, subscribed looking forward to see what is coming! I am crafting too, not for resale ( maybe here and there one, but not serious). I watch other crafting RUclipsr‘s too to get inspiration! Thrilled about the fact that I see you now from your beginning here on RUclips! I have no courage to do so!! Ok - enough said, I wish you all the best Wishes for your Channel! 🎉 Silvia
Thank you so much! I'm glad everyone seems to like them! Just solidifies that just because I am my biggest critic, it doesn't mean they aren't good projects ;)
I think your projects turned out cute. 😊 I love using clay in the moulds. But I use Das clay from Amazon. And I keep one of the little sticks from the transfers in the ziploc bag with my clay. I use the heel of my plam/hand to push the clay in. And then scrape over them with the long edge of the transfer stick. Maybe that would work for you? I used to live in Las Cruces, NM. So totally understand not being in the Christmas spirit yet. I moved to Wisconsin. Now I dread winter. People start pumpkin everything in Summer and I'm like...noooooo! Not ready for another 1000 days of winter. 😂
Yeah I'm not ready for the pumpkins until October LOL! And the transfer stick is a GREAT idea! May have to try that one next time! TY for the suggestion!
I use an old credit card or roller to flatten the back. Works well for me. I use DAS air dry clay, and try not to push too much clay in the mould so I have less to pull away. I’m glad you started a channel. I just subscribed? Keep up the good work!
I tried a cc and made a mess lol! I'm going to grab an extra brayer or use a rolling pin ;) Ty for subscribing and for the support! I hope I don't let you down!
@@absolutelyhandmadeI tried the brayer and the clay stuck and pulled out of the mould and rolled up in the handle. I find a metal blade stiff putty knife and just do a small section at a time works the best for me
That is a great idea! I've seen that done but for whatever reason didn't think about it in the moment! I'll hang on to that tidbit for next time ;) THANK YOU!
I have discovered if I spritz the moulds w a little water after unmolding I have hardly any cracking. Sometimes I don't have time to get a quick coat of paint on. Hope this helps.❤
Yeah, editing videos is a whole career lol. I have the opposite humidity problem--I'm surrounded on three sides by water. Salt doesn't shake, bread is limp, feet don't go in shoes very easily. BUT--the clay dries up quickly. I use the Jovi clay as well because I have tendonitis. To keep it soft, I saturate a half a paper towel (squeeze it though) in Witch Hazel and put it inside the wrapper around the exposed clay, then put it in a plastic bag or cling wrap. The Witch Hazel doesn't dry out and it keeps the clay soft.
If you want to blend your colors, get yourself a misting bottle of water. Lots of water!!💦 ☺️🥰 I live in San Diego, so my stuff dries fast too, but blending colors, you definitely need water. I’ve also dipped my paint brush in water too. I hope this helps you!!❤🫶🏼
That may be it! I may have to try again in a few weeks and do it with the black background. I think I have another 25+ of that sign so plenty of blanks to try! TY!
U.can use baking powder or corn starch on the whole mould not just the edges bc it will make all the details more define u can also pop it in the freezer for 15-30 min when u have skinny legs or whatever that are finicky !
great job on your projects. I agree with the other comments about putting your clay moulds in the freezer - also it seems that the clay you use is a "paper" clay, so it has more fibres in it. It will be easier to work with, but probably not as sturdy in a detailed mould (just a guess since we don't have that brand in Canada). As for the Santa sign, is it still possible to paint the tin part for more contrast with your castings? Also, adding a third reindeer - as you mentioned, elements in odd numbers. Good luck with your channel
Thank you! The mould released fine but broke after drying so I'm not sure the freezing would help that 🤷♀️ I don't think I can get them up with that glue so I may be stuck with 2 lol!
I ordered some clear resin, never again what a mess. They didn't set up the stuff went everywhere, it was a mess for real. So i went back to the quick dry and clay i like the clay but with ornaments i think you really really need resin. And i tried do a back to some and glueing them together but it doesn't work to good. But maybe for you. I love your second project and the last one just beautiful but the slay, i dont know its nice but it needs something but i dont know what. Maybe a background like the second one. God bless😊
That was my thing too! The background didn't work. I LOVE the metal but it's not working here! I love the outcome on the tapers for sure! The Ornaments were just fun. I keep a silicone mat under my surfaces. I'll demo the resin at some point. Maybe I can give you some tips to make it less messy! My dad used resin my entire childhood making knives by hand so maybe I've just seen his tips and picked up something from him 😉
Hey Ginny, when you're workin with the air dry clay, why don't you try usin a credit card or a thin, flexable knife and scrape off the excess? Wouldn't that be better and faster?🤷♀️. I'm new to your channel. Will keep watchin. Thank you

There is no clay like the IOD air dry clay 💯 Best on the market by far ❤
That's what I've heard! I've yet to try it.

I've used hot glue too! Love that option!

That's a great tip! Fortunately these came out with very little issue they just broke after they hardened :/
Great video can’t wait to see you grow
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
Put the moulds with the clay in the freezer for 15 minutes. They come out a lot easier if you have trouble like me.
Fortunately they seem to come out fine! It's just they broke so easily :(

For the paint drying, I keep one of those fine mist spritzer spray bottles with acrylic paint. Keeps the paint fluid so it doesn’t dry too fast.
Yes! I have a mister just didn't think about it 🤦♀️
I think you did great for this being only your 2nd video. The sleigh gets lost in the metal background. Look forward to more IOD videos.
Agreed! I wanted that metal background SO bad but I should have painted it black :/
I have arthritis too! Hate it. Love your channel. Keep it up!

Fine sprays of water allows the paint to blend much easier, especially in AZ.
Thank you! I just didn't think about it in the moment 🤦♀️

Maybe use a spritzer of water to move the paint around better. 😊

I think you need to make to background of the sleigh a different color or the elements because they don’t pop but you did a great job

Can I use paint other than milk paint?
Absolutely! There are many ways of achieving the crackle look!
You are doing fine, take it easy on yourself, Rome wasn't built in a day.
I appreciate you saying that! Thank you!

I think it’s a slight case of OCD. I’m the same way.

Spray with water if it's too dry
Definitely did that this week ;)
Clay is more cost effective too
