There's mics in the helmet. You can kind if see them, but it's very hard. XG sing live but have vocals in the backing track, so they sing over the backing track, which makes sense considering they're dancing. There are many mics significantly smaller that are used in theatre, so saying that anything that fits in the helmet wouldn't be high enough quality is blatantly untrue, though it would be reasonable to assume that if you're not familiar with the microphones used in performances.
They're singing live. You can see the microphones in the helmets, but because they're the same colour as their skin it's very difficult to see. There's other videos where it's clear they're singing live because they purposely make their voices echo with the backing track (or rather the other way around) and Maya moves the mic out of the way so that you can hear the difference. Would highly recommend.
