    Of all the dishes associated with the kitchen of Supriya Devi, Kanta Chochchori is undoubtedly the most famous. This is because of three reasons. Firstly, Supriya Devi, hailing from East Bengal (now Bangladesh), had no idea about this dish, which is essentially from West Bengal, and she was familiar with the quintessential ‘Machher Mathaar Chhyachra’ and that too with fish head and bones other than Bhetki. That is not Kanta Chochchori. Secondly, she learned it from the mother of Uttam Kumar and later excelled in it so much, that this was the all-time favorite dish of Uttam Kumar. Thirdly, when one day she forgot to cook it despite the special request from Uttam Kumar, he walked out of the house on a summer afternoon with her following him along Park Street, and they were almost mobbed by thousands that day.
