Welcome to Chicago cora! I love the city sooo much but the traffic is totally a deal breaker. I live in Joliet area and always wanted to live in the city but it’s honestly sooo irritating dealing w the traffic . me and my hubby like to travel out there sometimes and just walk around and look at how beautiful it is. Hey Cora I just saw your video as a fellow Chicagoan I wish you the best of luck. I moved out of the city but stay in cook county area where there is easy transport to the city. I just wanted to give you some heads up for a few things, 1) roaches and rats please look up reviews for any complexes you can , this has saved me from moving into more homes with infestation. One was really bad so I only stayed a month. By law you don’t have to stay in an infested apartment lots of people are willing to tho and believe me living above a restaurant is a no no. 2) a lot of these places are bought up by people who hide behind an LLC so they can screw people. Make sure you’re able to get contact information from people incase you have a serious issue that is breaking the lease agreement. I’m not at all trying to scare you in just giving you the heads up because it’s a seedy market here. Plenty of nice apartments around the ends of L lines, like Cumberland/Austin or forest park or oak park if you want to expand your search a bit. I have seen some beautiful apartments with marble and door men in the loop so it’s up to you.
I have Park Heights on the Lake Apartments on my go to list, I have to relocate in 2 months for a new job. Thoughts about this place? It has a great rating on Google but I cannot do roaches and rats absolutely not! Just wanna make sure

Why is it weird to have a laundry room in a bathroom?😂😂 it’s pretty common in Europe/Czech republic.. for us is weird to have washing machine in a kitchen or just have a separate room for it 😅i feel like new generation who build their house do it now, but old buildings don’t have it, also high rise buildings don’t have laundry room in the building, everyone has to get their own in the apartment (huge change for me since now I live in Canada where we have most of the appliances in a price of the apartment, in Czech you need to buy all of it)
please get the wrigleyville apt! it is an absolutely wonderful neighborhood
Going into the city is a nightmare now with that construction, but oh, just as bad without it, but extra bad right now with it... Good Luck!

Also there’s a good candy store in Wrigleyville called Candyality and an old movie theater next door! Also try Michaels Pizza (so fire)

You say the fun begins then show the way into Chicago with bad traffic and construction lol.... Every time i have been there this is what you go thru.
I know hahaha I am just not used to it yet but to be honest I’ve been loving listening to podcasts while sitting in traffic so I don’t mind much anymore 😅

I know this may not matter, but you should consider public transport location. I have a car in the city too but taking the train or bus is super convenient a lot of the times and when you like far from it it gets old soooo fast!
I’ll be taking public transportation primarily!! I’m only having my car there for when I go home and go to visit my long distance bf 😊
