my cousin's uncle was the engineer at American Honda who made and tested all of the sport ATCs back in the 1970s and 1980s. He could probably shed some light on the 250R prototype.
The prototype is of course impressive...but what's more impressive to me personally is the collection of the rare Hondaline accessories galore! 🤩🤤 Very very cool! I want a poster! 🤣
Love the collection never have I seen a speedo on a big red. I have owned 4 big reds atc 200 es atc 200 e can't remember model of others fist atc I owned was a atc 185s. Your collection just leaves me in ohh. So glad that thairs peaple out thair that collect 3 wheeler to keep the legend alive. Thank you so much for showing this stuff
I started in 74 with a 90 and the Balloon Tires, then a 78 90, then a 80 110 that I tricked out with 125cc, cam, intake, carb, low profiles, straight header and wider axle plus lots of weight loss. Then an 81 250R and the same trick outs basically as a Desert Racer, then an 84 200X and finally a 85 250R with Paul Turner kit and pipe as well as suspension work that was just wicked! I tried riding a 250 QuadRacer when the 4 wheelers came out and HATED it!
Great show! I learned so much. During the eighty's I owned seven 250 big reds and loved them all. I bought a new one at Honda of Chattanooga in 1986 and also got one of those red ATC jackets . I wore it for years. That jacket was $89.95 back then. Keep up the great work.
Hell of a collection. Enjoyed watching that one a lot. I'm glad to know that much of these things still exist, very interesting. To me all of this stuff are the most interesting of things that humans collect hands down. Thanks to the people that collect such things.
When I was 8 years old my dad came home with a 86 250 Big Red brand new. What a machine I literally grew up on that bike it ran hard and strong for at least 20 years and man I put that Trike through hell and back. Flipped it and sank it more times than I can remember and yes I have the scars to prove it and that was gust me never mind the abuse my dad put it through. Transmission eventually broke now it sits behind the barn all clapped out. I might try to fix 1 day I'm sure it will still run but it's been a least 15 long cold winter's since the last time any heat came out of that tail pipe so I don't know. Of course it will it's a Honda. 🤞
Man, I loved that story. I would encourage to you give it a shot! There are lots of people out there that would help you find parts and whatever you need. Go for it!!
Wow! Brings me back to the 80s. I grew up riding 3 wheelers never had a problem. I’ve wrecked 4 wheelers more times than I can think of lol. But those trikes sure were fun.
My uncle ordered a red 110 and a big red from over seas for me and my dad. We had a big farm to ride on. At 8 years old I figured out how hard a 110 could flop you. Lol I miss them days
Was same age when my dad came home with a new 86 250 big red. Good old days. You didn't run over your foot with the back tire and drag your leg around the back axel by any chance lol. Oh I know you did👍
I grow up in the 80s on trikes. 85 atc70 was the first I rode. Was my cousin's also. Lol then I got moved up to my uncle's blue 110. Lol then up to the 200s, an 250 big red. An lastly a 86 250r. I later built a 85-86 tri-z mutt just cus I found 2 and was able to make 1 really nice 1 out of the 2. I still want a 86-87 Tecate 3.Got to ride a 86 Tecate 4 as a teen a freind had. The Tecate 3 was the one I always wanted to ride an never seen one in person.
Dad bought me a Honda ATC 70 in 1985 off the showroom floor at Paris Honda for $635.00 in Paris, TX. I enjoyed the history lesson guys. New subscriber!
I started out on a 1970 ATC 90. Balloon tires, 4 speed with a low and high, no clutch. I freaking loved that thing. I remember when the 250R came out…super exciting. In 1983 my mom bought me a brand new ATC 200X. i put a wider axle, low profile tires, answer bars, Bassani pipe, 28mm Kiehin carb, tank scoops. Loved it. Loved both my ATCs. They were both bullet proof. I always wanted a 300X. 3 wheelers are the best.
Man, that's awesome. You had a rockstar mom from the sounds of it! Probably were the coolest kid in school and the prom king too if I had to bet! What color 90 did you have?
@@ThisOldTrike definitely none of those things, my 90 was red. The guy that got it from me painted it yellow. Was a pretty yellow, but I think it looked better red. I rode that thing for years and then traded it on a Yamaha MX 175. About 2 years after that I got the 200X. Three wheelers will always be special to me. Love those things! Great Channel
Love this, I'm probably around you guys age, grew up on 3 wheelers, parents bought my younger brother and I 3 wheelers, I got a 250 SX, brother got a 110, my dad had a 200X that he did everything that was possible back then to make it make more HP, he had it bored out, sent the crank out to Rolle Bros, had multiple different pipes on it I recall, but stuck with the DG, had the suspension done too, this thing had such high compression, he had to run avgas in it, we liked to flat track race them, it easily beat a stock 250 ..... I miss those days.... I would still buy a 3 wheeler over a 4 wheeler any day if they still made them, u had to know how to ride a 3 wheeler and not everybody could, they weren't dangerous, they were FUN...
What's really cool is to remember walking into a Honda shop or Suzuki whatever one and seeing all if these brand new and for sale. The Hinda ATC holds near and dear but my all time favorite will always be seeing the new LT500 quadracer sitting on the showroom floor Of Dicks Suzuki.
That's awesome. Unfortunately I'm just a little too young to remember the three wheelers sitting on the showroom floor. I'm sure I saw it... just don't remember. Those 500 Quadzilla's... they are monsters.
Bringing back the memberberries with this video! I had a red ‘72 atc90, and ‘84 atc125m, and an ‘84 atc200x. The 90 wasn’t stock though as this was pre-ebay so parts were hard to find on my lawn-mowing budget (early 1990’s) so it got homemade adapters on the rear and a modified 185s front end all to fit tires that kept the air on the inside!
AWESOME Collection, I had a 1985 300 4x4, I little stiff ride but the most Dependable 4x4 I ever owned.. Also 1985 250R 3 wheeler that my dad bored, stroked & bigger jets, super FAST....
My dad and I have been gathering parts to rebuild/restore our 1983 250r. It’s got one of the first Bills pipes exhaust systems on it that bill built in his garage while my dad was there with the bike… has a stuffer plate and a fancy clutch with super heavy springs, faster than any other 250r I’ve ever ridden including a bitchin custom 1986 330cc with +4 swing arm I got to race my Dad up olds in glamis on back on new years 95-96…
Thank you, thank you, thank you, very expertly done, one man movie crew when preston stops by.... let's wait and see who challenges the prototype... hahah just a 30 year old guy out in the driveway with the sidewalk chalk, nothing to see here, hahahahahah
I remember that prototype floating around for a while. I almost actually purchased that exact bike! So glad to see it’s in good hands…I hope you keep getting more and more information on that bike. I think…It would be cool to verify some of that.

Cool vid. 👍👍 I had such a great time on ATCs in the 80s and 90s... I had a 86 250r and two 84 200x's. I wish Id of kept that 250r, grabbed a 86 200x and grabbed a 86 350x back in the day. 👍

Couldn’t find an engine for my 1984 CR250R two wheeler. Then I found an 85 CR250 R three wheeler used everything I could from the flange off the exhaust pipe to the thumb throttle. I still have the bike and it still runs unbelievable
I had a Basani header on my 84 Yamaha 225 back in the day. Rarely hear of them. It sure took a few trips to convince Dad to drop 2200 bucks on a trike in 84 since a grand would buy about anything you wanted prior to water cooling taking over on most models. The prices really started to climb in mid 80s
I love it. And I just got all kinda 3wheeler stuff off a friend n there's truckloads.. I'm only building a couple fat tire bikes out of all the stuff.. I be in touch

Wow what a nice collection, Some of the machines you have didn't make there way to Dealers here in Australia but we did have a few 87 and 88 models find there way over. Unfortunately these days you cant even buy a new ATV from the dealers, side by sides only these days.
You can taje the piece off you fab and make a cool fin out of fiberglass brother. Fiberglass is very easy to work with & thrn yiu can paint them red or white to look stock or very close to it.
1985 CR 250R three wheeler engine in my 1984 CR250 R two wheeler had to make it fit. So the transmission was intended for a live axle makes for a lot of horses and a whole lot of fun
You can bolt in a SL70 4-speed transmission in the ATC70 case and use the clutch cover from the SL70 and have a hand lever clutch and still use the auto clutch ,,advantage is one more gear of course but you can disengage the clutch and do wfo hole shots or save down shifting on steep hills simply slipping the clutch a bit
I started on a 86 200s my mom bought us and we rode the dog mess out of it. When we got in trouble she would take the plug out of the 3 wheeler. After thst i was hooked. Ended with a 350x. My most favorite 3 wheeler out of all. Even my Tecate 250. I would choose my 350x. Jmo
Lmfao my dad would chain my gokart to the garage frame Cause he knew I would ride it with him at work. Kept me alive though cause I didn't have a roll cage and he did have to come pull it off me once
This brings back so many good memories , riding these bad boys as a kid in Alaska . The 80's were the best .

1985 CR 250R three wheeler engine in my 1984 CR250 R two wheeler had to make it fit. So the transmission was intended for a live axle makes for a lot of horses and a whole lot of fun
Missing one thing in your tire collection, gotta get you some spider trax!
I never liked them
I still have my 85 250R Got brand new in high school
Love it!
Love my atc. 350x and 200x atc70 Been riding atc since 1990.

Tricycle Guy is a maniac! Hopefully I can own a few like him someday...

This video just gave me the biggest ATC gasm! 😂
😂😂😂hahahahaah thanks for watching
Nice collection you know you're a diehard when you make sure the hanger says Honda 👍
hahaha you got that right!
All in the name of authenticity
You can bolt in a SL70 4-speed transmission in the ATC70 case and use the clutch cover from the SL70 and have a hand lever clutch and still use the auto clutch ,,advantage is one more gear of course but you can disengage the clutch and do wfo hole shots or save down shifting on steep hills simply slipping the clutch a bit
I first rode an atc 70 when I was 10 and it blew my mind......so much so I went and bought one again even now I'm 50 😅😅
Awesome collection. Where there no 350x's or did I miss them?
That will be answered in part 2 stay tuned, like and subscribe
Was a little monster
Love the videos! I need help finding a replacement foam for my 1985 350x and was wondering where you get yours from?? Thanks
Replacement seat foam?? I believe you can still buy replacement seat foam from CEET and/or Hi Flite. I've never had to buy just a foam though.
God everything about this collection is just so damn cool
Thanks brother
A nice collection.
