  • Gray’s of 1858 occurred in a specific historical context, preceded by many excellent anatomy books. This video only briefly introduces the viewer to a selection of 19th century anatomists and their books. Several more videos will follow to explore the topic more fully, across multiple centuries, and multiple publication formats.

Nice collection of anatomy books. I have a facsimile copy of the 1771 Encyclopedia Britannica, in which the first volume has an extensive anatomy entry of some 165 pages with various illustrations. I don't know how many copies of the original and early editions are circulating privately, though.
