I will be removing any rude or racist comments. Don’t bother.
This concert was held at Carnegie Hall with Yannick Nezet-Seguin and the Philadelphia orchestra (Jan 28, 2023) as a celebration of Rachmaninoff’s 150th birthday.

Someone had arranged the 2nd Symphony into a piano concerto, and they call it Concerto No.5. I'm glad Yuja didn't bother with that, as I doubt rachmaninoff would have approved! All 5 huge works in one evening is absolutely inhuman, nobody has ever done this before. Yuja is unique!

Very nice video. I was about 20 rows behind you. An astonishing display of musicianship. 5 wonderful performances with no sign of tiredness, even leaving the Rach 3 for last. A gentleman had a heart attack in the beginning of the 3rd movement of the first concerto played (#2) thank God there were audience members on hand who jumped up to do cpr. Very upsetting for everyone, not least the musicians. After a 30 minute hiatus the long concert proceeded. I didn't hear a single fluffed note all night. No "busking" no "pianistic cheating" - we got every single note Rachmaninov wrote (though the shorter cadenza in Rach 3). Quite astonishing. No wonder Yannick bowed down to her at the end. I spoke to several orchestra members in the breaks and all of them said "isn't she incredible?" Yes. She is. I fancy Rachmaninov cracked a smile up in heaven that evening. It should also be mentioned that the orchestra was sensational all evening, the right sound, the right string portamento, everything. They sounded as good as I've ever heard them in 40 years of listening to them. That 18th variation you mention was truly magnificent in terms of orchestral sonority.

@@georgescancan7503 From the New York Times, part of review of the concert: The program was flanked by the Second and Third concertos, touchstones of the repertory for the past century, and also included the youthful First; the changeable, big-band-inflected Fourth; and the playfully kaleidoscopic “Rhapsody.” The composition and revision of these five pieces extended almost from the beginning to the end of Rachmaninoff’s career, from the early 1890s to the early 1940s. (He was born 150 years ago this April.) But all of them share his unmistakable stamp: the sumptuous soulfulness, the soaring expansions, the restless rhythmic shifts and, of course, the alternation of fierce energy and intimate reflection in the piano.
Wang is nimble at that alternation, with power and accuracy in fast fingerwork and fortissimo chords - and, just as important, patience and elegance in cooler moments. Her pillowy chords at the close of the Second Concerto’s middle movement floated quietly into place, and she was shadowy but luminous before that piece’s ending romp. Before the final plunge near the end of the Third Concerto, the piano takes one last, brief inward look. Wang shaped this passage with exquisite detail: the first two chords gentle, the next suddenly louder and surprisingly tough - tougher than she’d sounded in solo moments like this during the whole concert - before the rest of the phrase ebbed into mist. This handful of measures painted a whole situation and personality: vulnerable, strong, searching but not lost. It was as memorable as the blazing runs and octaves that followed.
Mario/Cancan; Not stop Yuja, stop you! You're opinion is absurd.
