Best tv show ever , especially the pilot/1st season and a majority of the 2nd season episodes.
The culmination of Tom's passion project work for nearly a Decade. The full analysis of the Hawke's Cabin Matte Shots (and others) from the show, with a full break-down of how they were done, PLUS **FANTASTIC**, exclusive, UNUSED Airwolf Footage / out-takes that have never been seen by the fans before, is truly Jaw-Dropping... especially Gabrielle's walk. I'm absolutely in awe of the whole thing. Prepare to be blown away folks, especially Tom's stunning 3D recreations of the workings of the Matte dept back in 1984 - as if we were there... Set you cogs to 4K in RUclips!
Glad they didn't use the outtakes. The wind blowing but the trees doesn't move only the smoke coming from the chimney. Cool video though.
Those 3d reconstructions of the matte department rooms are fantastic! It must have taken a lot of effort and it's greatly appreciated! It felt like I was there! Looking forward to more wonderful videos! ❤
Thank you! There are a few more things we will build in 3D for future videos to illustrate how they did camera and glass matte moves for some shots. We'll also probably build-out the separate camera booths.
Wonderful! The ingenuity of old school special effects is still fascinating and magical to me. This video is obviously a labor of love, BRAVO!
Wow, one of the best presented and creative " behind the scenes" ive ever seen!, ind ive seeeen SO many!. Thanks to the MAX!!
Thank you! We certainly tried to do our best!
This is phenomenal! What a great video on the process of matte painting. Thank you so much for creating this.
I would love to hear about some of those painting techniques!
We'll have to figure something out regarding that. Best to see the techniques demonstrated while also hearing the artist walk us through it.
I am impressed and happy beyond words to savor this remarkable video, Tom. Thank you, all!
Thank you, Glen!
I’m going to watch this again and again. We’ll done.
Great presentation and time capsule of Universal Studios... when I worked there starting with MCA when it was known as Universal City Studios. I was there un-official studio historian among other jobs (1977-1998), but I worked there on/off up till 2015, which covered six more studio owners!
Albert Whitlock was Universal's rtesident matte artist, I would see him on the lot all the time, I was there for AIRWOLF, BLUES BROTHERS, BACK TO THE FUTURE, SCARFACE, STREETS OF FIRE, AMAZING STORIES etc.
Hi Graham, if you can direct us to a resource or website to learn and see more about what work you did documenting the studio, do share! I noted that some of your photos are on theStudioTour website. Thank you!
This is incredible. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Outstanding video!! Really great work!
Thank you, Rick! Happy to also see your posts on the Traditional Matte Painting Forum on FB!
The ending is even better than in the original episode!
that was very informative and a great piece of work 🤗
Thank you!
I have shared on my FB and IG!
Hey Thomas, You have absolutely outdone yourself on this one my friend!! Your dedication, precise and detailed work in assembling these Emmy-worthy FX mini-productions is very much appreciated by fans of old school traditional matte & trick shot exponents.
All the very best
NZ Pete
Thanks, Pete! So, how does the daytime or primetime Emmy-nomination process work? Ha! Looking forward to working with you on a future video!
Just discovered this channel, addicted already, the way these are edited and presented is perfect.
Do you have a website or anything?
Would love to know what up coming episodes you are doing.
Albert's time with Hitchcock hopefully.
