- Texas Rangers top pitching prospect Kumar Rocker made his MLB debut against the Seattle Mariners and showed why he received sensational amounts of hype. The former first round draft pick racked up strikeouts with a nasty breaking ball and flummoxed hitters with his fastball.
The Rangers have the New York Mets to thank for the most exciting weekend trio of starting pitchers in a long time. The Mets declined to match the Rangers' free agent offer to Jacob deGrom. The Mets drafted Kumar Rocker but passed on signing him due to his concerning medical history. The Mets traded Max Scherzer to the Rangers last summer to help fuel their World Series run.
Corey Seager's season is done after he underwent sports hernia surgery this week. He is expected to make a full recovery in time for spring training next season.
