I agree that it is hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle for many people who are nomads. However, that's not to say it can't be done. While diet is a big part of maintaining your weight, so is exercise. James I think probably exercises more than Eric does because he doesn't make the majority of his living from You Tube. I've seen him do everything from day labor work to working as a gate guard in the Texas oilfields over the years. Adventure Van Man Brian does that too, I've seen him working on salmon boats in Alaska, the beet farm harvest in the fall and a Christmas tree lot during the holiday season. In doing so, both those guys get some good exercise and a paycheck to boot.
Eric on the other hand, has the luxury of having built up a following on YT where that and product endorsements is his main source of income. In the video he published today (1/6) that he filmed last Friday from Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, he told his viewers that while he was a certain diet he is following, he is allowed to have one cheat day a week where he can eat anything he wants. Coincidentally, Friday is his cheat day and that was the day he filmed at the amusement park where he sat down and filmed himself having a bacon cheeseburger, fries and at least two beers. Since it was his "cheat day", I'm sure he indulged in more than throughout the day.
Look Rav, I like Eric and I enjoy his videos, but he does have a way of going over the top. When this challenge started a week or so ago, I thought to myself, "Watch, Eric's going to go out and buy a bunch of crap for this challenge." Sure enough, that's what he did. In a video he posted last week, had purchased some work out mat with tension lines and while he kept saying he wasn't following a specific diet, he did fill up his freezer with all that expensive Keto precooked packaged meals. Good grief.
In his defense, he did prepare six days of baked chicken breasts and boiled broccoli, and stowed them away individually packed for use in the next week, but that doesn't really work either. I've tried that done that before and it doesn't work. After about three days, chicken and broccoli will get old...by that I mean quality of the meal and mentally.
The best way to lose weight is exercise. Walk five miles a day. Ride a bicycle. Do a hundred sit-ups or take up a daily routine of 30 minutes of yoga. Driving 200 miles to see the biggest ball of barbed wire and then filming it for 20 minutes to three hours while making amusing comments, then driving another 100 miles to a Walmart parking lot to boondock for the night while you edit your video is not really exercise.
Anyway, this commentary went on way too long here and I apologize for that. Have a great New Year Rav! In the meantime my friend, be sure to check out some of my Nomad/RV articles. In the coming year, I'll be writing some more DIY articles as well as some work involving healthy eating, exercise and making a living on the go. My wife and I , eat healthy for the most part an spend a lot of time living in our bus conversion. We are vegan and found that by cutting out meat an dairy we lost most of our weight issues an feel healthy now . Most our food can store without a fridge ( another plus )
This nation is and has been being lied to about what really happens in the meat an dairy industries ( the amount of fda payoffs and coverups are obscene ) check out videos like Animal farm and a youtuber guy ; Mic the Vegan , You’ll thank me later . I thank you for that information too. Definitely not having to store food in a fridge is a big win, along with a healthy weight loss. I do believe we've been lied to by various food industry businesses and organizations. I've been slowly transitioning from meat and dairy products but have not completely cut them out yet. I sure eat a lot less of that stuff now.
