No ones gonna see this, but TRUST ME Private Game Bridge - Block Protection off - 1 hit k-o on - superboom tnt on - 4v4 Im being completely serious when I say to this day its some of the most fun/intense minecraft I've played and still play. Its NOTHING like normal bridge. You have to learn totally new tech, good teamwork is heavily rewarded and its very fast paced. Believe it or not is not fully out (1.0 doesn't exist yet) The talk on the transfer to 1.20 is on the admin's mind and is planning to adapt it into the game. What else were people going to do and most of the people who hadn't played minecraft for a little while at that point were still young enough that they had time on their hands. I'm going into my junior of highschool now and I don't have nearly as much free time as I did when I was in 6th and 7th grade. Most people don't have time to play the game anymore even if they want to or would have fun doing it

i don't think hypixel updating to 1.20 would bring about any sort of revival for pvpers. hypixel's developers are turning it mainly into a skyblock server because it's their cash cow: bridge generates pennies compared to skyblock, having some more players on doing it is just a bonus for them. i think we're at a critical point where new players are discouraged anyways, since anyone who jumps into competitive pvp now is faced with a bunch of sweats who have played for waaay longer than them (i would know, i've faced this and only went through because i had friends who carried me until i actually improved). we're not at the point where all your bedwars games are always filled with clueless nons because they've all been scared off to 1.20, which is a friendlier version for people with office mice and has a lower entry barrier. ultimately all communities are ephemeral and this video encapsulates some of my doubts about jumping back into bridge after a 1.5-year mental health hiatus. maybe i'll hop on again and see if bridge is low-key fun again?!
Simon's already said that he plans to update the server to the newer versions when transfer packets get added which I think is supposed to be added this update iirc. The issue with updating to 1.20 (no transfer packets) is that there's no upside for them. 1.20 players can already play on Hypixel, they have little to no disadvantages in non-pvp based games, not enough for people playing on 1.20 to care as if they cared they'd migrate. The only thing they will do by migrating to 1.20 at this point in time is alienate whoever mains 1.8 with the promise of nothing, really. At the very least if they say they are adding transfer packets, they might maintain some of the community due to ping issues being resolved.
Truly we gotta speak for the culture of 1.8 it can't die down. I had my o levels so I'm missing out but we got to make Minecraft 1.8 great again. We need a main character dude who's good at 1.8 at all game modes and has a funny persona
I mean even before this though I was noticing people were somewhat coming back, including me. Hypixel made their anti cheat slightly better and it isn't quite as laggy as it used to be. I mean ive tried the 1.9+ pvp over and over and have been doing it multiple times a day but I just kinda hate it. Another interesting thing to keep in mind is that Mojang has been pushing for years now to make Bedrock and Java cross platform and Bedrock still has the older style pvp. They're going to do something because of that. we'll have to see.
