I will never understand why some guys think it's a good idea to propose in front of a big group of strangers. It's less special than having space to yourself in a romantic spot, and it's a lot more embarrassing in front of a whole group of people if she says no.

I mean, if you propose to a girl way to early while your relationship is not even close to the point where both want to marry as the next step, then you deserve the "no". Every couple i know (including myself) will someday talk about how both think about marriage, starting maybe with some smalltalk "jokes" to see how she reacts and after a few years in a serious conversation. I would never propose to a girl if the possibilty exists she might say "no".
