- Alexa Ray Corriea chats with Abby Howard and Tony Howard-Arias from Black Tabby Games, developers of Slay the Princess. Together they discuss their backgrounds in graphic novels before moving into games; how they approached writing for a game with many possible narrative choices; the technical hurdles they had to overcome; and the different ways that Slay the Princess handles the idea of intimacy.

Commenting to boost visibility because StP deserves it
me too 🎉
I will join you
Absolutely!
Heck Yeah!
GRAHHHHH SLAY THE PRINCESS MENTIONED!!!! GRAHHHHH
She Slay on My Princess 'till I "You're on a path in the woods. At the end of that path is a cabin. In the basement of that cabin is a princess.
You are here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world."
"Oh, you ba$tard! You're in for it now, I'm wise to your tricks!"
Greatly enjoyed this interview! It makes sense that one of the creators has a psych degree -- I've been watching Euro Brady's "Therapist Plays StP" series and it's been a fascinating view on how the game is written.
Agreed, that's been a fascinating play-through. :)
On a massive Slay the Princess binge at the moment. Can't bring myself to do any of the really mean endings, so I'm watching other people do them and living vicariously through them.
Good choice. I'm aiming to 100% the achievements, but the emotional toll of being cruel to the princess in The Cage was bad. I triple checked that what I was about to do really was the correct path to the achievement, and I felt absolutely wretched as I did it - Like Smitten after Damsel is killed or Broken at the start of The Fury. Had to do a happy damsel ending as my next route just to cheer myself up a little.
There’s so many things I loved about this interview but considering The Prisoner broke the creator and it turned out as one of my favorite routes is crazy! I also adore every story being a different expression of love. The Spectre being my favorite of all of them!
glad I'm not the only one that likes the Advy ending, probably my favorite of the chapter 2s
It's the part of the game that, even after exploring all the final endings, I still come back to. Like how the Adversary isn't going anywhere, this game isn't going to leave my thoughts for the forseeable future.
I came just to support the game and developers but i loved the whole interview. Definitly following the channel now! Will check other videos when i have some time!
Gotta say that Behind the scenes and interviews are super interesting! Especially on a game like stp.
"My parents need to get divorced" made me scream

These game devs are true masters of narrative design. I highly recommend anyone who loves slay the princess to check out scarlet hollow
Slay the Princess mentioned
You're on a path in the woods. At the end of that path is a cabin. In the basement of that cabin is a princess.
You're here to make sure people play the game about slaying her. If they don't, it will be the end of the world.
