      like having to find the power band and actually shift around the track when men were men and they rode real MX bikes? hehe 2-strokes > 4-strokes > e-bikes. there's no question that e-bikes are easier. but there's also no question that 4-strokes made racers lazier/less skilled as well. imo, Eli Tomac would still smoke Matt Burkeen if they're both on Stark Vargs (once they've both adjusted to the machines). fwiw, I'm kind of miffed that ppl look like fat/overweight mutants wearing their chest protectors under their jerseys, and that modern MX pants look like spandex yoga pants. iunno. times change, I guess. saw it with 4-strokes running 3rd gear around the entire track. gonna see it again in 5-10 years when there are no gears to shift on e-bikes. but maybe by then ppl will stop wearing those ridiculously large, over-the-protector, jerseys. 😄

Second, electric bikes exist for long time already. You don't need to compete straight away with 450, just compete in own class. Such solution used everywhere. In Russia there is retro class because a lot of old bikes. In China they have Chinese bikes class etc. The problem what I see with Stark, Alta and etc, is that they make everything twice more expensive.

    This really opened up my mind and I think I have some pretty good ideas regarding the situation with not being able to hear riders coming up on you on electric bikes when coexisting with 2 and 4-stroke bikes and of course we can talk about some type of horn system or loud warning sound but I was thinking I've had this idea in the past have some company like bose develop a speaker system and have them hidden on the bike and inconspicuous areas and you can have a app setup and have them match the decibels of their surrounding bikes and have either a two-stroke sound or four-stroke sound but have it all integrated into a real system of when you actually throttle the electric bike it will make the sound of your choosing whether be a two-stroke 300 a two-stroke 125 a 4-stroke 450 etc etc but the technological aspect would be for the system to recognize how loud the bikes are surrounding the electric bike as to have enough Decibels to match the Sounds of the other bikes but anyways just taking it not with the safety thing but just for something cool,... have the integrated audio system setup in in users can control the volume they can control the type of bike they can make it sound nothing they can have it sound like a classic panhead harley,....or a19th century locoMOTIVE.....OR A NASCAR ENGINE.......submarine diesel engine sounds they can have the sound of a F-16 fighter pilot they have the sounds of a P-51 Mustang and when that electric bike rider revs that throttle it'll be like they're REVVING a real P-51 Mustang from 1940s how that actually would sound and POSSIBLY AI WOULD COORDINATE AND INTEGTRATE THE DYNAMIC NATURE OF THE SOUNDS TO BE MOST REALISTIC TO OUR EAR..AND AI... would probably really recreate those sounds perfectly be a perfect bridge to bridge the electric ........combustion Gap and have the electric as have as many traits as a previous ERAS MACHINES AS TO SAVOR AND PROMOTE NOSTALGIA AND A CONNECTION TO OUR PAST AS BIKE ,LOVER, ENGINE LOVERS, DATA, I FORMATION, INNOVATION LOVERS,..and the app would be interactive and linked to an onli e site thats the center hub for he bikes culture.....so it will have the day ricky johnson won the suoercross race at , such and such, so today u get to hear exactly whaT rickys 1986 CR250 SOUNDED LIKE THE NIGHT OF THAT RACE, to honor the day in motocross history....... someone that day the Riders get the rider electric bikes and sound like Griffey Johnson's 86 CR250 like I just said and get appreciation for the past all linked to the app and the site whatever Doug Henry won the 97 Las Vegas deal on the yz400 and whatever date that was have the electric bikes on that day sound like that bike from that night to remember the night that four-stroke technology cemented itself into the main possibility of replacing 2-stroke........NEWAYS......I MUST SAY THOUGH THT audio is SHURLY affects me like if it wasn't for the sound that my 2-stroke made I don't think I would be into motorcycles as much cuz that's how big the sound is for me I'm a sound APHILE or an AUDIOPHLE FOR CRISP 2 STROKES IN 60 DEGREE AIR, JETTED PERFECTLY....... it propels me,.... it motivates me to keep going and I don't ride to relax I ride to have energized exciting experience and I only ride Two Strokes for that but like you said it is very so many factors he had to take in that detract from the the flow. OF the experience.... you HAVE clutch you got to shift you got to MODULATE, STAY NEUTRALLY, WORRY BOUT ENGINE STALLING, OVERHEATING, take a look ahead and worry about the terrain you have to do all these things and not focus on the fundamentals and possibly you engage your fight-or-flight brain or like me and I go into a a session already to do some drills and practice like after watching Rhino for an hour and a half of getting on the balls in the feet,... unlock the hips don't round the back in the shoulders keep your torso straight Yadi Yadi yada yada then direction you want to go but us humans are so good at forgetting really quick forgetting the pain forgetting how shity was it we just stumbled ahead hoping for the best but hey I rather have that kind of amnesia LOL

    You can do that to your 350 jase. I had a z start pro recluse clutch . I rotated the clutch lever down a few degrees and put a mountain bike shorty lever on a custom made perch just above it which i ran a cable down to my rear brake pedal . Keeping a foot brake as well as a hand rear brake and a clutch . Was so good for so many reasons . I ended up useing foot brake and handbrake at the same time in technical stuff.jumping was the best ,i deliberately air wheelied then just pull the rear brake lever without fear of stalling in the air ,then drop the nose and gas it . Could rock back and forth in the air twice on big jumps.single trail with whoops so much easier. Takes a bit of getting used to but if you make a mistake and ride the old habit it doesnt matter. Even had a husky 430 wr auto 2 stroke with a handbrake rear kept the rear footbrake also.

    Some of us are old enough to remember CLEARLY the transition we all made from 2-strokes to 4-strokes. At first you only rode a 4-stroke if you were a dessert guy....or "x" guy, whatever. Then, they got lighter and easier to start and boom, 99% of the bikes out there are 4-strokes now. The Stark Varg is very close to being enough to replace a modern 450. It's just not quite there. The power is there but the battery life and weight need to change. Battery: imagine a 2 moto race at Glen Helen when its >90 degrees out? Even if you could recharge the battery between motos, the battery won't live very long with that kind of wear and tear. So, we hot swap the batteries between motos. Each battery needs to give at least 1 hour of runtime at moderate loads and at least 45+ minutes at an expert-level race pace load. The batteries need to be easily hot-swapped, yet affordable. Instead of trying to plug in between motos, we need to just pop in a fresh battery. Sometimes we're dealing with a tire change, bike issue, or pressure washing the bike between motos and it's not reasonable to have it on the stand charging. Losing 8-12 pounds would make it more manageable for a

    • @bikesbeersbeats

      12 minutes due to excessive heat. Trials does not stress the battery in this way. You're going 1-4mph on average. They did have to switch out the battery between sections because the scottish 6 days event is unique due to the sections being miles and miles apart. At some point, we'll need to use proper terminology regarding the two words "engine" and "motor".
    We will need to stop this habit of calling everything a "motor".
    If it runs on fuel, it's an ENGINE. If it uses electricity, it's a MOTOR.

    • @kurtheidelbach
      @kurtheidelbach Год назад

      Not really. A Engine has moving parts that covert power into motion. A Motor can be electric or internal combustion that supplies power for a vehicle.

      @@kurtheidelbach I thought I'd provide evidence here to support my statement, but when I started digging into it, I discovered that you are entirely right!
      So it's acceptable to interchange the two words, but I'm more an engineer, and it's damned bothersome at times when talking about electric vs. combustion motive devices and I have to stop and ask what they are talking about!! It's maddening sometimes. It's like someone giving you directions and saying, "When you get to 10th St, turn. Then go two blocks and turn. Then turn at the next light and you're there."
      Wtf does that even mean?
      That's how it is at times when people interchange the words without CLEARLY going further to state the nature of the "motor" which they're referring to.
      Admittedly, this probably isn't a problem for 99% of people.
      Thanks for correcting me on this issue, Kurt.

      right now the Varg is ~30 minutes of serious riding (MX track). it needs to be 60 minutes, imo. and then there's recharging. until there's enough infrastructure to recharge (this is an EV issue too), you need to have replaceable batteries (trail ebikes like the KTMs do have swappable batteries for this purpose). The upside is that trail riding is much less intensive than the MX track, and trail riders are reporting generally better battery time... but at the end of the day, it's going to be tough to try to cover a 2-6 hours off road adventure on any e-bikes...ever, tbh. but for closed course competitions like GNCC, MX, etc? yeah. we're close. not quite there but very close.
