    Couldn't agree more about not buying (or using) the CR skip right away. I'm a seasoned veteran of the game, and every time I create a new character I ALWAYS go through the early game missions and level that character up to 30 first, even IF I do plan on using a CR skip.
    For a couple of reasons -
    1) You will gather well over 100 source marks while levelling which will come in handy later for unlocking generator mods/abilities or artifact catalysts, and you'll also get a ton of easy feats. You can miss out on the Marks and the Feats entirely if you skip ahead, and
    2) you will be able to learn how your power works as you level up and unlock new abilities, and you can experiment and try out different loadouts as you go. By the time you hit level 30, you should have found a loadout you feel comfortable playing with for when you start playing the group (On-Duty) content.
    Also, about roles.....if you can, try and buy a 2nd Armoury. You'll get given one for free as you level up, but having one is almost the same as having none. You're going to need a 2nd one if you want to utilise your role. That way you can save your DPS build (and gear) in one armoury, and your tank/healer/troll build in the 2nd one.
    Don't try and do some kind of a hybrid build. If you go into a group mission as a tank but you're actually more of a DPS in a tank role, you'll get found out pretty quickly and most likely let your team down as you won't be able to carry out the role expected of you as a tank.
    Hybrid builds ARE possible to do, but they very much require 'end-game-level' amounts of skill points and knowledge of how powers work to make them viable. I wouldn't recommend trying it as a new player!

      I played this game about 7 years ago and was immediately power leveled like crazy, everyone carried me and I got level 30 so fast I never saw a point in playing so I quit, now I'm trying to get back in and having a blast, I definitely like being a supportive style teammate who can heal but the stat points are not there as I noticed you need 11-21 for the caps, so I was just doing raids and wondering easy ways to get more materials, I am now doing Tier 1 solo with a CR of 390 and it's my 3rd day back, what a way to live

    I will reiterate and add to number 5...know your role,, and if you reg up for it, PLAY your role. Also learn your core role before you start "battle whatever"

    Hey dack or anyone who can help me! I just started playing dcuo and question I have is what do u think the appropriate lvl or cr is that I should change my role? Should I do it at lvl 10 or wait till I'm cr 100 etc?

      unless you are eternally patient. Magg only pays for a sub but he also has limited styles and no artifacts at 200 yet. Most of us can't do that lol.

    Do not go with rainbow augs. No one will take you seriously. Power up home turf base white mods. Just for fun charge in before the tank BR style.

    People still play this game? I doubt it's still updated, but I haven't played this game in years.

    • @DackMan
      @DackMan  2 года назад +2

      It's actually updated with 3 content episodes a year and several game updates. It's also the highest earner of all the Daybreak studio games. Doesn't mean it doesn't have issues but it's still active.

    Why tell people how to play if you don't know how to play?

      You know, I used to respond much harsher to comments like this but honestly it's not worth it so I hope you have a Blessed Day.
