- The culmination of our team’s efforts on the first pre-production phase of Alice: Asylum, (Alice’s potential third video game adventure) is now contained within the completed Alice: Asylum Design Bible PDF, V1.0 released FOR FREE as of the 14th of February, 2023 (US TIME).

Dude's been trying to get this into videogame form for a while. But he's being given a hard time. This PDF is literally the entire plan for the next alice game american mcgee wants to make. It has the entire story layout, all of the game's locations and characters. EA needs to either give this man a budget or give him the rights to the ip so he can find a publisher who actually is willing to give him the budget to turn this game into a reality.
The designs look incredible. Could you imagine a open world Alice game if they gave this guy a budget and a team. It would be incredible.

EA Originals and the recent Dead Space remake show that EA can actually publish stuff without ruining the games. Maybe there is still hope.

Not only did they turn it down, they refused to hand the rights back to Mcgee so he can’t get it published by another company.

EA doesn't know just how much they're losing by blocking this game from development and release. This game looks absolutely insane and I seriously have no doubt it'll do well when it's released.

Update April 11th:
EA has officially passed on McGee's pitch for Alice Asylum.
They won't let him make the game, and they won't hand the IP back to him.
Following so, McGee has stated 'he's done'. If not this game, then no games after - ever.
And if EA ever does make Alice Asylum or something in the near future... he has no desire being involved in any way.
In short: McGee's 3rd Alice entry will remain a concept novel.

I just heard the news. I'm so terribly upset. I'm really hoping an opportunity will come up that will finally allow you to bring this project to life. All the best to everyone who has worked so hard to try and give Alice a new adventure.
sadly American said he had no desire to work on the project even if it did get greenlit in the future, he's burnt out and we should respect that

He spent years on the concept, fully relying on crowdfund all that time and passion for a bullshit reason and cold refusal. Theres no chance he gives that dogshit publisher another try. He'd rather move on with the time he has left better spent elsewhere
Even as a fan, i think he did enough and it would be selfish to encourage him after he got such a huge disappointment. Id rather see him happier with a new endeavour

Madness Returns is still one of my all time favorite games. No other Alice adaptation comes close. Hoping EA finally gives McGee and team the support to make the third installment cause all that concept art and planning is downright gorgeous!
Alice Madness Returns holds up to this day. Excellent gameplay, compelling art style, dark and interesting story with a surprise twist. I really REALLY want to see what McGee has in store next. Please make this game happen!
Been funding him on Patreon for awhile and I am not disappointed in the progress being made. Def feels like we're getting closer and closer

EA needs to capitalise on the popularity of Wednesday and release this game now. This kind of style is back in, if the game releases anytime in the next few years I think it'll be a massive hit.

@@Cosmiku they really had the balls to say that the alice series is an important part of their catalog yet the first game is no where to be seen on online storefronts and they have no desire to make a third game despite the amount of people backing the project

There technically was, look up Alice madness in Tokyo, or Tokyo madness. It was a sequel that never got enough funding which was sad bc I loved the concept

This game is beautifully insane. The franchise must go on! EA needs to understand that this game will bring them a lot of profit. And from the first game, the plot, the graphics, everything is amazing. We need this franchise to continue, Alice Liddel's story cannot end now!

Hey, EA! Great job wasting American's time and resources by requesting a pitch and then binning the whole thing without the option to bring in external investors. It's beyond me why you'd have an IP with so much potential and consciously decide to fridge it. Makes me glad I haven't bought your stuff in years.

I was so ready to head back into an Alice game. EA truly made a terrible decision by refusing making it or selling it to be made elsewhere.
The concept art is just insane and looks so promising... After 10 years we will never witness what a great game it was supposed to become. But after all it is EA, I didn't have much faith in them to begin with.

@@daeity1 A sick capitalist one. The whole purpose of holding onto Alice is to keep it in a vault until they decide to make money off of it someday when they need to. Sadly McGee had to sign a contract that gave all the rights to EA so there's nothing he can do about it...

Okay if this happens I hope they're able to get someone like Chris Vrenna back to do the music. The first game's soundtrack was so good at being moody, industrial, and macabre and I feel like they really dialed it back too hard with Madness Returns. This trailer had good music and if this develops I hope they're able to keep that up.

This is by far my favorite game ever and no game has compared to how much I enjoyed the Xbox 360 version of madness returns. I have played it multiple times and it is the reason why I obsess over Alice in wonderland it in general. I have seen all of the Tim Burton movies and I own them on DVD.
Everything that has to do with Alice in wonderland that doesn't look cheesy, I obsess over it. 😂 This really takes the cake. I know that they've been talking about wanting to make this a thing for quite some time now and I think it's coming up on almost 5 years since they started talking about it and now he's saying that he wants to make it official. I've never been so excited over a game in a very long time and madness returns was made 14 years ago and I can't believe it's been that long.
i never played any McGees game but i love love LOVE his version of Alice so please give this man a budget and make this happens
The Alice 3 situation is one of those lose-lose cases.
E.A. Was being E.A., as they are with many properties;
- but in some details, it was a little bit of McGee’s own fault as well, for not planning ahead when it comes to ownership.
In addition: he also made it harder for himself by moving to / setting up shop in an authoritarian nation that screws over game devs & publishers often.
May just one of those sad things in history that just wasn’t meant to be.
At least we have a glimpse into some possibilities.

McGee stated that even if the game got a green light for whatever reason, he won't do it anymore. He's done making games.
That's a shame it seems like he was very passionate about this series and finishing it off

Even if this game isn't at "profitable" as EA would prefer it to be, who gives a shit? It's more interesting than the same FIFA titles they push out every single year, alongside all of the other games they just paint over annually. EA cancelled alice asylum and american mcgee is retiring from the video game scene and will focus more on his plushie dreadfuls (I really wished this was a joke but it's not just look up alice asylum and you'll definitely find a few vidoes about the sad news)

Alice: Madness Returns is literally one of me favorite games! Such an underrated gem.
The game needs to happen already. We've been itching for more Alice content, especially with how little we got with Alice Otherlands, despite taking place immediately after Madness Returns (and how Otherlands only got two episodes and the bare minimum of publicity).
I can't even count how many times I've played Alice 💀 💕 For real, it is my comfort game

@@nathanielenochs1843 people are saying that an upcoming Xbox exclusive action RPG called Ravenlok looks like it’s gonna be that spiritual successor to the Alice series since both have a similar feel to them design wise with a twisted looking Wonderland albeit Ravenlok’s art style is a lot different than the Alice series cuz Ravenlok uses a 3D pixel art style but it still looks pretty nonetheless.
This is just beautiful, I really hope this comes to light. I have a strong feeling it’ll be a big hit. I am such a big fan of the first one. ❤

Crazy facts about American McGee: The original game came out in 2000, Wes Craven was supposed to direct a movie version of it (but didn't happen obviously.)
In 2011 the sequel was released but by then a lot of its fame had died out from the initial rush.
In 2015 his sister just disappeared suddenly, and no word of her since. They suspect foul play but don't even have the comfort of evidence to know what happened for sure.
This poor man needs a break, he just wants to see this project he's carried for over 20 years be realized.

As I understand it, the game hasn't even started to be made because EA, having the rights, prevents McGee from making the game. This book is a way for all of us to support him.

just finished american mcgees alice on ps3 and i loved so much, still got to do madness returns but if its anywhere near as good i hope there will be another one to play in the future. how could i have missed such a great game for that long :D
