Dude's been trying to get this into videogame form for a while. But he's being given a hard time. This PDF is literally the entire plan for the next alice game american mcgee wants to make. It has the entire story layout, all of the game's locations and characters. EA needs to either give this man a budget or give him the rights to the ip so he can find a publisher who actually is willing to give him the budget to turn this game into a reality.
EA doesn't know just how much they're losing by blocking this game from development and release. This game looks absolutely insane and I seriously have no doubt it'll do well when it's released.

Update April 11th: EA has officially passed on McGee's pitch for Alice Asylum. They won't let him make the game, and they won't hand the IP back to him. Following so, McGee has stated 'he's done'. If not this game, then no games after - ever. And if EA ever does make Alice Asylum or something in the near future... he has no desire being involved in any way. In short: McGee's 3rd Alice entry will remain a concept novel.
Madness Returns is still one of my all time favorite games. No other Alice adaptation comes close. Hoping EA finally gives McGee and team the support to make the third installment cause all that concept art and planning is downright gorgeous!
Alice Madness Returns holds up to this day. Excellent gameplay, compelling art style, dark and interesting story with a surprise twist. I really REALLY want to see what McGee has in store next. Please make this game happen!
EA needs to capitalise on the popularity of Wednesday and release this game now. This kind of style is back in, if the game releases anytime in the next few years I think it'll be a massive hit.

After 10 years we will never witness what a great game it was supposed to become. But after all it is EA, I didn't have much faith in them to begin with.

Okay if this happens I hope they're able to get someone like Chris Vrenna back to do the music. The first game's soundtrack was so good at being moody, industrial, and macabre and I feel like they really dialed it back too hard with Madness Returns. This trailer had good music and if this develops I hope they're able to keep that up.

The Alice 3 situation is one of those lose-lose cases. E.A. Was being E.A., as they are with many properties; - but in some details, it was a little bit of McGee’s own fault as well, for not planning ahead when it comes to ownership. In addition: he also made it harder for himself by moving to / setting up shop in an authoritarian nation that screws over game devs & publishers often. May just one of those sad things in history that just wasn’t meant to be. At least we have a glimpse into some possibilities.

I have played it multiple times and it is the reason why I obsess over Alice in wonderland it in general. I have seen all of the Tim Burton movies and I own them on DVD. Everything that has to do with Alice in wonderland that doesn't look cheesy, I obsess over it. 😂 This really takes the cake. Crazy facts about American McGee: The original game came out in 2000, Wes Craven was supposed to direct a movie version of it (but didn't happen obviously.) In 2011 the sequel was released but by then a lot of its fame had died out from the initial rush. In 2015 his sister just disappeared suddenly, and no word of her since. They suspect foul play but don't even have the comfort of evidence to know what happened for sure. This poor man needs a break, he just wants to see this project he's carried for over 20 years be realized.

@@nathanielenochs1843 people are saying that an upcoming Xbox exclusive action RPG called Ravenlok looks like it’s gonna be that spiritual successor to the Alice series since both have a similar feel to them design wise with a twisted looking Wonderland albeit Ravenlok’s art style is a lot different than the Alice series cuz Ravenlok uses a 3D pixel art style but it still looks pretty nonetheless.
To everyone saying they hope EA will allow this game to be made: sorry, but we're talking about EA. They aren't going to even glance at a game that isn't designed from the ground up as a microtransaction farm. Make no mistake, I wish the game would be made; Madness Returns is one of my all-time favorites, but we aren't going to see that sort of title from a publisher like EA anymore. They don't hold on to IPs because they have any intention of making worthy art out of them; they do it because it's an asset, and they aren't going to let it go as long as there's the vaguest hope of convincing someone to overpay for it later.

This design bible has been a wonder to look at, but the journey and ending are so horrid. This much detail, story and design (from outfits to scenes to everything), I remember when he was livestreaming years ago. Just to be rejected- again. And now American is done- not just with trying to pitch, but with developing, and with Alice (even saying to not ask him about ANYTHING pertaining to Alice, including the show stuff). It's truly heartbreaking EA did this and I'm almost convinced it was on purpose. He's been trying non-stop for so long, EA had too much pride to give him either the rights or the green light because that means American won. Which is just so shitty to think about. And though I don't like AI at all I can understand why American mentioned he thinks the book could make the game; it's so damn detailed that with the right team it could (though it'll always be blocked by EA especially with out AI laws are getting). I can't help but be scared that now that EA has "won" (and I say this loosely, as after so long I do not blame American for stopping), they'll suddenly pick up the game in a few years and either steal the pitch or ruin the game since I very highly doubt American will come back (sadly even if a law changes or the rights are up for grabs- fighting and being kicked down for a decade with as many hurdles he had I wouldn't doubt him muting the word Alice entirely). Maybe that'll change, but I think most of us know better than to push or expect him to return even if a miracle happens. I'd love for this game to come back, it was part of my childhood funny enough- traumatizing me to all hell but I was intrigued too. Played Madness when it came out, remember Otherlands, and now all these years later looking at what could've been. It's always mesmerizing to go through but heart breaking; I'm 27 now, Americans Alice is my favorite rendition, and it funny enough goes into how I see or create a lot of things myself. Bittersweet indeed, but here's to hoping that American's Alice isn't forgotten, and that just maybe that spark will come back. (oh and that EA gets what they deserve)
This PDF is absolutely fantastic - I had to keep myself from reading it closely, as I don't want to be completely spoiled for Asylum when it comes out!

In 2015 his sister just disappeared suddenly, and no word of her since. They suspect foul play but don't even have the comfort of evidence to know what happened for sure.
This poor man needs a break, he just wants to see this project he's carried for over 20 years be realized.

@@nathanielenochs1843 people are saying that an upcoming Xbox exclusive action RPG called Ravenlok looks like it’s gonna be that spiritual successor to the Alice series since both have a similar feel to them design wise with a twisted looking Wonderland albeit Ravenlok’s art style is a lot different than the Alice series cuz Ravenlok uses a 3D pixel art style but it still looks pretty nonetheless.
To everyone saying they hope EA will allow this game to be made: sorry, but we're talking about EA. They aren't going to even glance at a game that isn't designed from the ground up as a microtransaction farm. Make no mistake, I wish the game would be made; Madness Returns is one of my all-time favorites, but we aren't going to see that sort of title from a publisher like EA anymore. They don't hold on to IPs because they have any intention of making worthy art out of them; they do it because it's an asset, and they aren't going to let it go as long as there's the vaguest hope of convincing someone to overpay for it later.

This design bible has been a wonder to look at, but the journey and ending are so horrid. This much detail, story and design (from outfits to scenes to everything), I remember when he was livestreaming years ago. Just to be rejected- again.
And now American is done- not just with trying to pitch, but with developing, and with Alice (even saying to not ask him about ANYTHING pertaining to Alice, including the show stuff). It's truly heartbreaking EA did this and I'm almost convinced it was on purpose. He's been trying non-stop for so long, EA had too much pride to give him either the rights or the green light because that means American won. Which is just so shitty to think about. And though I don't like AI at all I can understand why American mentioned he thinks the book could make the game; it's so damn detailed that with the right team it could (though it'll always be blocked by EA especially with out AI laws are getting).
I can't help but be scared that now that EA has "won" (and I say this loosely, as after so long I do not blame American for stopping), they'll suddenly pick up the game in a few years and either steal the pitch or ruin the game since I very highly doubt American will come back (sadly even if a law changes or the rights are up for grabs- fighting and being kicked down for a decade with as many hurdles he had I wouldn't doubt him muting the word Alice entirely). Maybe that'll change, but I think most of us know better than to push or expect him to return even if a miracle happens.
I'd love for this game to come back, it was part of my childhood funny enough- traumatizing me to all hell but I was intrigued too. Played Madness when it came out, remember Otherlands, and now all these years later looking at what could've been. It's always mesmerizing to go through but heart breaking; I'm 27 now, Americans Alice is my favorite rendition, and it funny enough goes into how I see or create a lot of things myself. Bittersweet indeed, but here's to hoping that American's Alice isn't forgotten, and that just maybe that spark will come back. (oh and that EA gets what they deserve)

just finished american mcgees alice on ps3 and i loved so much, still got to do madness returns but if its anywhere near as good i hope there will be another one to play in the future. how could i have missed such a great game for that long :D
