I met Don May 68. He was the crew chief on a chopper that was the first into Nui ba Dinh after being overun. I was a replacement radio operator to relive the S.F. opeators. Later I was the radio operator at Katum and he was in and out of there. We met agian in the mid 1990's in Eugene, Oregon and have palled around ever since.
This game and these interviews have really opened my eyes to the realities our vets go through. Not to mention in the light of recent global conflict I'm becoming increasingly thankful for those who serve/ have served than ever before. Then you hear the personal stories and it really brings it all home. These are real people with real lives put on the line, truly amazing stuff.
Hey Don, Im currently a Chinook maintainer in Alaska and I went through Eustis aswell. I even got to see the Cobra on display at the end of the hangars. Our little field exercise also had a cobra shell that we used for a DART mission. Love all you do man
Thanks Don and SGD for the great interview. I have listened several times. Please may I ask, can you tell me what song is that playing as the background music to the photo montage at the very end? Thank you and greetings from UK !
Had such a great time talking with Don! An amazing person full of wisdom and incredible stories. Thanks so much Don for all you've done for us, and for letting us be a part of your introduction to modern video games! Getting to play SOG:PF with you has been a unique privilege that few are lucky enough to experience. It's so cool to have little details in the game world bring out stories that would never otherwise come up. The footage from the Hughes Crewchief channel is awesome. It adds a special visualization to the interview - loved it. Lots of great content on Don's channel - check it out if you have not already! If anyone wants to see footage of Don playing SOGPF with us, myself, OperatorDrewski, and possibly Jax will have some footage of some of our missions up once the game is out. Definitely worth watching! Here's to many more great times ahead!
I would rather watch 2 hours of a Man's real story than 1000 hours of Hollywood nonsense. God Bless you Don and thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us.
An amazing interview...thanks to everyone
