- Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732-1806) was a documentor of decadence - his pastel-drenched images of idyllic gardens and rosy-cheeked maidens in repose illustrate his era’s lust for carefree amusement. Alongside the work of Antoine Watteau and François Boucher, amongst others, Fragonard’s luminous pictures epitomize the French Rococo period in art history.
