Rebecca is a wonderful character: she spends the season trying to be a villain because the alternative is to be a victim and she won’t have that. She wants to be cruel because it would be satisfying but she doesn’t have it in her enough. She ultimately is a good person but one who’s been hurt and wanted desperately to not hurt, even if it meant hurting others. She needed Ted Lasso, who is so committed to not hurting others that it’s hard (but not impossible) to hurt the man himself.
I disagree a good person doesn’t want to hurt others at all for no reason other than it’s wrong not because one doesn’t want to be a victim and not want to feel hurt.
@@alexanderguerrero347 well I’m not sure where you’re from but where I’m from good people sometimes are capable of making mistakes and don’t always conform to the definition of “good people” 100% of the time
@@alexanderguerrero347 You're confusing faultless with good. Good people aren't perfect - but they're at least working towards being better than they were. They still make mistakes, sometimes big ones.
The alternative to being a villain is not being a villain. Being cruel to Ted, Keeley, Higgins, & trying to get the team to fail is not a show of strength. The only reason she changed was because those people were so kind to her, and they were kind to her because, aside from Higgins, they didn’t know her scheme.
This is one of my favorite character introductions in a show. I love how you're not sure exactly what she's all about, or whether you should be rooting for her... but ultimately, even if there are moments later in this season that you hate her, she never ceases to be a joy to watch on screen. Although she does some devious shit, when she *SPOILER ALERT* comes back around it is entirely believable.
That actor is the same woman who portrayed the nun from game of thrones that says 'shame, shame' to Cerseii Lannister. Once you see it you can't unsee it. That's what kind of range this lady has, remarkable
I LOVE this character I'm halfway through the first season and though she is a villain (for now, hoping for change) she is a BOSS and this actress is so talented.
This first season is often compared to Major League and there are some obvious parallels, but Rebecca is very different from the owner in Major League since she is a much more complex character who’s not simply a mustache twirling villain
multi-award winning "Ted Lasso" - she's the owner of a mid-table football team who wants to take revenge on her ex-husband (who really loves the team) ... by hiring an amateur American Football coach who has never even played a single minute of real football in his life ... because she knows he will definitely lose and get the team relegated at the end of the season. Ridiculous in the extreme .... but then the show takes a series of surprising turns as the cast goes from silly cariacatures to real people thanks to the relentlessly positive influence Ted has on people (reminds me of "Paddington")
So, there are several sports I couldn't care less about, soccer being one of them. Don't get me wrong... if that's your thing, do your thing. I'm also not much into the Will Ferrell /Jason Sudeikis brand of humor. My sense of humor is rather blacker and far more sarcastic than that. But I'm rapidly becoming a fan of Hannah Waddingham, just from clips and interviews.
Lorraine Rogers* - the "S" is part of the name, no apostrophe. And what is the purpose of the multiple spaces between all words? Are you a bot or just plain shitty at spelling and punctuation?
'Casual misogyny'. I guess anything can look like misogyny when you script the lines. The comical thing is that they make it an extreme example. I know their are still individuals around like this, but the stuff I hear coming out of women's mouths on a daily basis, and have in my lifetime, are equally sickening. This is never addressed in any narrative, fiction or otherwise. I wonder why.
I completely forgot this was the George on the panel with Roy in season 2
Which makes Roy telling him he was “a shit manager” even better.
And back again.

Calling his balls “Liam and Noel” is one of the funniest lines in the series
But perhaps not an Oasis 💀💀💀
Maybe I don't really want to know.....
I was in love with the series as soon as I heard that lol.
Smooth delivery
"Liam and Noel, but perhaps, they're not in the Oasis" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
“ perhaps not an Oasis”. Liam and Noel Gallagher were members of a band called Oasis.
- Your casual misogyny
- What?
- I know it’s a big word. Ask one of your daughters what it means.
I didn’t know she was “the villain” of the season yet, but that line was stone cold and made me like her immediately
I thought she said "doctors."

The "Ask your daughters" line is savage.
Yeah and speaks to the classism of the cisfeminist movement.
@@valeriekeefe8898 Sure. What it actually does is point out that, as someone who has daughters, he should behave better.
This woman brings it. Big time.
I love her delivery; cold, cutting and utterly comical! I hope Hannah Waddingham is the next M in James Bond! She’d be a force to reckon with!
I’ve never thought of that but she would be a good fit.
Absolutely yes to this. Can we start a campaign to make that happen.👍🏻👍🏻
She should play a headmistress type character or Miss Hardbroom from The Worst Witch.
@@BillyButcher90 She sort of did. She played the mono-syllabic torture-nun in Game of Thrones.
That would be brilliant!!!!
shes beautiful
Ok

You’re Fired.
FUCKING OWNED!

You're surely not the only one, got to know via comments too
and still doesn't know shit about futbol. roy was right in saying he was a shit manager.
And Roy had no problem calling him a "shit manager" on live TV 😅
Her delivery of 01:29 is... everything.
The interactions between Rebecca and Higgins are my favourite in the show!
I think this was the moment I knew I would like this series. And Ted wasn’t even introduced yet.

i fell in love with this show the moment i heard the liam & noel / oasis joke
Can u please explain the joke? 🤷♀️
Liam and Noel Gallagher are two brothers that were in the rock band Oasis
Also because George is from Manchester
That scene sold the serie for me. I was hooked :)
one of my favorite character introductions and opening scenes
I love that he comes back later as one of the commentators

…Liam and Noel … perhaps not Oasis
In Russian translation, perfect - двое из ларца
Love it!
Enter Ted ... so it begins!
Rebecca hiring Ted (and Beard) was one of her greatest achievements as a team owner and WHY she hired him was one of her biggest regrets.
She gives me a Patsy from "Absolutely Fabulous" vibe, only sober. Also, it is good to see Sprat from "Downtown Abbey".
Hell of an introduction
This lady is racked
That woman is gorgeous and funny
Liam & Noel.. great writing. But perhaps, not an oasis.
Yeah, she’s just a serious, G’Damn WOW! Janet McTeer from Ozark is another English BAM!
I liked the series. I hope there are more episodes to come.
There won't. The final episode brought all storylines to conclusion.
I have no idea what show this is from, but good Lord she is hot.

I had totally forgotten the shorts and balls thing. Didn't realise the finale was a call back.
That last line “Nothing with raisins in it please” 😆
The most beautiful woman ever
English is my third language and even I know what misogyny means.. Mainly because I suffer from it.

She named his bollocks "Liam" and "Noel" - they are the famous Gallagher brothers from Oasis

Only thing i hate about this series is the volume is too low
Turn up the volume I can't hear a thing they are saying is that English?
