I'm literally on LinkedIn writing a post and listening to this video at the same time occasionally pausing this video and taking notes as I go. Thanks for the great insights. 🙏🏽
Loved this! Never imagined that with all these trends and updates we're having, text posts still dominate! Also, love that closing statement from J "It's Life-Work Balance". Still on the road to being able to say one day "I can retire today but I choose to work." Manifesting to be able to say that before I hit 40.
I have to watch this video again and again. So much to learn and absorb. I already had been thinking of changing my posting/content on Linkedin. This video confirmed it and opened a new path for me to follow. Thank you for this great content and the amazing guest!
Chris thank you for asking the health follow up question. Deeply appreciate the first video and the second video. I love the work you’re both doing. It is reassuring to know that both of you will be around for the years to come. Little to minimal sleep causes many many many problems.
Brilliant insights. My favourite new strategies from this episode: starting a case study post with a broader hook and saying where your knowledge/insights come from. Dankeschoen! 🤩
Dude... The word you've been looking for to describe how LinkedIn algorithm works is... Engagement. I am 15 mins into the video and that one word is all you needed.
I watched the whole video yesterday at work and today again. Now I’m home eating chick fill A while I watched it again on my tv 😅. This is the second time I do this Chris. First time was the last video you did with Daniel. Thank you for all the value ❤
LinkedIn of 2024 is the worst it's ever been. Machine learning has all but destroyed its human essence. Most of the content I come across is AI-generated or driven by bots. I’m done.
I just subscribe to experts in their field. People and communities already vetted. LinkedIn is about professionals. People talk about their job experience and about their expertise. Unlike other platforms, your posts better be well written. If the info you present sounds suspect, people in the community will call you out quick. Just my observation.
no cap; i was spinning my head today on multiple things (esp audience engagement and teach) .. which forced me into restrategizing as i prep for Y25. i had softly decided to migrate to LinkedIn, then THIS GEM drops. Thank you For this episode! I implemented an idea you mentioned right away (adding credibility/ personalization with a short phrase regarding my experience). I’m feeling optimistic about building my performance/ participation on LinkedIn. Let’s Gooo 2025!
I post videos 99% of the time. They are working for me. With only 700 followers my videos are getting avg 30-40K impressions. The number is growing...It might not work after a few months maybe but if it's working now I am all in on videos.
Seeing how storytelling and video content have blown up on other social media accounts, no surprise to see a similar thing happening with LinkedIn. So much useful information from this podcast.
I like Linkedin because it gives a more personal connection with the people you don't have on the other social media platforms, where you are mostly just a follower
It goes without saying that video will permeate every space, good one and bad ones. In my opinion, LinkedIn should maintain its text based content creation as its algorithmic foundation, if you will, to keep its differentiation. The ability to write (text) will and should be maintained as fundamental way to communicate as human beings. Change will always happen, get use to it and get use to more garbage content also, as the bar is lowered, a bit.
I still find it crazy that in this creator market we are in now it feels like if you want to get anywhere meaning credited or taken notice of by employers even on LinkedIn it entails that everyone must have a following, everyone must be posting etc to get somewhere nowadays everyone must be somesort of influencer when before LinkedIn was a place to connect professionally not as influencers. Too many AI generated content on there and information that seems repetitive and copied from everyone else.
I feel generally down abt my social media output-. Especially after listening to this -- as I’m a ceo and don’t feel like posting abt financing SMEs in eu , but instead abt how my bone density has increased by 19% over 2 years by daily yoga and running. So … I’m having an alignment “issue”. 😅
The reach is there too. The algorithm is interest-based, and if a topic gets renewed popularity, the views for the related posts will increase regardless of how old the post is. I have a video that has gained more than half of its total views a year after I published it.
TikTok is done - LinkedIn's strategy to move quickly and fill the void was smart. Regardless of the platform - I don't watch videos. The production quality for most social media could be better, and clickbait is the predominant. My advice is to build on your own site and keep developing polished content to keep people returning. AI will dominate SEO and social media platforms...don't strategize to the algo.
You can do all things this guy recommends and you will still have little engagement, don't waste your time on social media. It's far better to improve your real skills as a designer if you want to get ahead.
@ short term dopamine hit has positively impacted most social media’s currently out there. The more a person stays in LinkedIn the more engagement they get, The more the engagement the more the revenue for ads. At least that’s my understanding. I may be wrong!
Gotta train your mindset to go from "asking for attention" to "nurturing your audience". When people are included, they keep coming back. And when they can't contribute, they'll find that feeling somewhere else. Big difference.
@ it’s true. I’m an attention seeker. I can vlog with ease abt my persona and journeys. I’m sharing in the -physical realm- v generous- but not emotionally. I am aware of this . And you are correct. 🙏.
LinkedIn has lost focus. I lectured college students a month ago and it will likely lose its userbase next generation. The primary purpose should be to help people find work and it is straying from that into a corporate RUclips.
And then all these people are writing about that their alcoholism, their homelessness they’re terrible childhood being molested their traumas. That makes me uncomfortable and I think oh I don’t wanna put myself on there doing that about talking about toxic relationships I had with my parents.
Sorry to sound like im hating lol but I posted a video when I first started LinkedIn and got 13k views and lots of comments n likes...I just posted a text post right now and got 25 impressions lol so writing post aren't that great
No hating detected. You can't "pinpoint" a trend based on one post. Gotta test more than that :) Could've been the quality of the post itself, not necessarily the text-only format :)

Since I am pursuing a switch from corporate to solopreneurship, thanks to you all, I see LinkedIn in a different light. :) One footnote to the comment that many users are silent on LI and don't post much: I don't know whether this only applies to entrepreneurs or in general. Since I am on this platform, just like my company, engaging freely on LinkedIn is challenging. Maybe the factor is sometimes not the WANT TO but more the CAN I?
