Gorbachev was a saint compared to every other Soviet leader. My grandparents, who lived under Stalin, were forced to believe he was a god. They only learned the truth during Glasnost.

Gorbachev was the only Soviet Leader who saw the problem with the USSR, why it was a failing state. His Glasnost and Perestroika would have saved the country. He was the best Soviet Leader, and that was part of what made him the last. We need someone like Gorbachev, who knows what is best for Russia. Instead, we have a tyrannical and despotic idiot in Vladimir Putin. Gorbachev was right when he called Putin an idiot, because Putin is an idiot. He started the war against Ukraine, and I know that Gorbachev would never consciously do something like that.

So far I've seen videos of the Soviet and Russian national anthems, this video is the most complete I think. Thank you for making this video, I really appreciate your work. 1944 is the turning point, this new anthem sounds more nationalist and very energetic.
United forever in friendship and labour, Our mighty republics will ever endure. The Great Soviet Union will live through the ages. The dream of a people their fortress secure. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. Through days dark and stormy where Great Lenin lead us Our eyes saw the bright sun of freedom above And Stalin our leader with faith in the people, Inspired us to build up the land that we love. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. We fought for the future, destroyed the invaders, And brought to our homeland the laurels of fame. Our glory will live in the memory of nations And all generations will honour her name. Long live our Soviet motherland, Built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our people, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see.
Underrated tovarishch ☭ It lives on through the courage of men and women who live by the virtue of our brotherhood, honor and cooperative spirit. They might tumble our houses, but our bricks are as old as kievan rus.
Nunca ceda pueblo glorioso, nunca cedas, nunca te rindas, Eres el ejemplo de muchos pueblos debiles y subyugados que quieren superarse de sus grandes dificultades. Nunca te rindas Rusia!!!!
The current anthem (from 1944) was always performed in C major. It's funny that just in 1989, when the fate of the Soviet Union was about to be sealed, they transposed the anthem down by 2 halftones from C major to Bb major (19:15). That makes it easier for the trumpets to catch the highest notes and for people to sing along, but it takes away the brilliance and makes the anthem sound much darker.
Hey you know what also takes away the brilliance? Murdering 20,000 Ukrainian civilians, leaving 15,000 conscripts there to bleed to death, and sending 15,000 students to Siberia for having an opinion about that.
The anthem became the Russian anthem in 1944. A more patriotic hymn than the International. Words for it are now more or less complete. It is today the most apt poignant and uplifting of all anthems.

sorry for bad english stalin killed a lot of people, brezhnev started the war in afghanistan that would eventually cause enormous losses to USSR (and come on, he wasn't even communist: he was keen on luxury cars and spent a lot of money to buy them). Yeltsin was a drunk man and sold entire Russian economic sectors (once State-owned) to few men, corruption spread so much, and last medvedev and putin "hate" the West because they actually want to bring back the zars empire, starting from ukraine and georgia. i really liked lenin, trozky (although he didnt rule ussr), cruschev and gorbachev: they strongly believed in good communism and a mighty union of peoples

Good thing you included the footage of the Soviet Union collapse, because I watched many Soviet-Russian anthem evolution, and many of them don't include the Soviet Union collapse and the Former Russian anthem, instead they moved from the 1990 anthem then to the 2001 Russian anthem.

Even before that they were doing a decent job of splitting Nazi Germany's wig to the white meat.
They have the strongest anthem, winter and men. Can't be won against.

Now the Soviet Union is officially gone..
Rip mikhail
Gorbachev was the only Soviet Leader who saw the problem with the USSR, why it was a failing state. His Glasnost and Perestroika would have saved the country. He was the best Soviet Leader, and that was part of what made him the last. We need someone like Gorbachev, who knows what is best for Russia. Instead, we have a tyrannical and despotic idiot in Vladimir Putin. Gorbachev was right when he called Putin an idiot, because Putin is an idiot. He started the war against Ukraine, and I know that Gorbachev would never consciously do something like that.

2:23 best version
The current anthem (from 1944) was always performed in C major. It's funny that just in 1989, when the fate of the Soviet Union was about to be sealed, they transposed the anthem down by 2 halftones from C major to Bb major (19:15). That makes it easier for the trumpets to catch the highest notes and for people to sing along, but it takes away the brilliance and makes the anthem sound much darker.
But I the russian era, It was back at the original tune. (C major)
@@talentlesszephyr_yt russia didnt play it in C major.
I think it’s just the video quality. It’s not that good as you can see, you can see pixels.
Hey you know what also takes away the brilliance? Murdering 20,000 Ukrainian civilians, leaving 15,000 conscripts there to bleed to death, and sending 15,000 students to Siberia for having an opinion about that.
