Chris, chef Chai (he is originally from Thailand) is actually famous in Hawaii. I remember watching his cook show appearances when I was younger. I believe he was the chef for Hawaiian Airlines first class/business class longtime ago.
The fried prawn menu from Chef Chai that Chris tried is actually called “Kung Sarong” it’s an appetizer menu, one of the famous traditional Thai dishes.
@23:20....Filipinos were one of the First immigrants to come to Hawaii, & work alongside Chinese & Japanese, in sugar cane & pineapple plantations. First immigrant workers came around 1840-50s or so
Yes, prices are pretty high in the first world countries like USA/Hawaii and Far East Asia compare to Southeast Asia is much suitable for budget travelers.
I've lived in Waikiki for the last 8 years. The best food so far has been a mango I picked up off the sidewalk one day on my way home. It seems the taste and price are inflated by the presentation, expectation, and presence of 'Floyd Mayweather' s.
Mr. Chris:Thanks you guys for your new remarkable video today’s from Honolulu, Hawaii to different kinds of cuisines with thousands of people on the streets to purchased street foods in January of 2024❤❤❤
Filo dough is a Greek /Turkish invention made most for pastries like Galaktabouriko which is my favorite. It is also used for Tiropita the large version of cheese bread and its brother spanakopita which is feta and spinach. this bread almost compares to Goya discs used for empanadas.
Brilliant video and Chris you had me really laughing when Gladys was eating the honeycomb your face😂😂😂😂😂😂was sooooo funny All the food looked amazing 😊❤
Mr. Chris:Congratulations to you guys for your new remarkable video today’s from Honolulu, Hawaii to tried some delicious Hawaii dishes or cuisines & Jamaican foods in January of 2024❤❤❤
"Lilikoi" you'll see that flavor everywhere in Hawaii. It means passion fruit. The juice POG passion-orange-guave is a must. Also, Li Hing Mui crackseed is famous in Hawaii. Btw, Obama was born in Hawaii and went to Punahou High school on Oahu. He too loves "shave ice."
That's debatable. Waiola shaved ice is in town and some say better. Obama has a house but is not always there. Robin's nest from the original Hawaii 5-0 on the windward side. Kaneohe. @@fakawat7220
Chef Chai is a very popular and famous chef in Hawaii. He had his own television show. I hope you googled him. Glad you got him on your video or you would’ve regretted that you met a famous Hawaii chef
About Chef Chai Chef Chai Chaowasaree (“Chef Chai”), owner and chef of Chef Chai at Pacifica Honolulu is recognized as one of Hawaii’s top Hawaii Regional Cuisine chefs. Known for fusing fresh Hawaii ingredients with the exotic flavors of Asia, Chef Chai has created a culinary style that reflects the cultural diversity of Oahu and the Hawaiian Islands. In addition to running his two restaurants, Chef Chai was named executive chef of Hawaiian Airlines for which he manages more than 20 kitchens worldwide. He also hosts the weekly cooking show, “Dining Out with Chai” and “Chai’s Choices”
Mr. Chris:Thanks you so much for your new remarkable video today’s from Honolulu, Hawaii to shows these amazing places on the streets to tried different kinds of street foods in January of 2024❤❤❤❤
Hey Chris, Thanks for the information on waikiki blockparty never knew about the party and I've been there numerous times. The next time I go I will time it right.🙂
We also wondered which would be the greatest thing we will ever eat haha but grandma's cooking it is. We wish street food was so cheap as in Thailand. Great video as always Thanks for inspiring us to travel to new destinations. You guys must try the lechón in Puerto Rico!
Waikiki is our main tourists spot and the most expensive and of course prices are higher there😂 Hope you get a chance to visit the Polynesian Cultural Center it sure will be worth the trip and price too..Aloha and Mahalo for visiting🤗🤙🌺
27:24 Word! Large groups make me nervous. That’s why in Vegas I get jacked up!! 😂😂. All the food looked killer but that churro looking thing ….DAMN! Send me one! 😂
Aloha, the "Trigger Fish" that you mentioned at 3:30 is actually our Hawaii State Fish... "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a". This helps to explain why you keep seeing it.
Estoy a un mes y medio de viajar a hawaii de luna de miel y este video me alludo a elegir la ubicacion del hotel donde me gustaria quedar, muchas gracias Dios los bendiga
Mr. Chris:I wish you guys safe journeys & good luck always in peace for you guys to releases more new videos from Honolulu, Hawaii in January of 2024❤❤❤I really LOVE to watch your amazing videos in great joy @ home January of 2024❤❤❤
Wow, you guys got to meet Chef Chai Chawasaree! His current restaurant is at the corner of Kapiolani Blvd and Ward Ave on the ground floor of a residential high end condo building.
Itʻs good to see you trying different things in Waikīkī, but you canʻt compare prices after coming from Southeast Asia to the resort areas in the American state with the highest cost of living and an economy dependent on tourism. Please think about the cost of living in Thailand and the Philippines and how much people earn (or the kinds of work the poor must do). The cost of food and items shipped to Hawaiʻi has gone up like everything with inflation, the minimum wage just went up to $14/hour (with a very high income tax rate) and will be $18/hour in 2028, and all food businesses must use biodegradable or sustainable dishes, utensils, bags, etc. Waikīkī is also the most expensive real estate in the islands (and prices are generally higher than in other areas of the island), so these block parties (used to be only for special events like a festival day or celebration) support our local vendors and workers. Hope you get to get out of Waikīkī or other resort areas like Disney Aulani on your visit or future visits to Hawaiʻi. (I see you went to Chinatown in another video.)

It's a good price at Waikiki Night Market.
Honeycomb Ice Cream from Leeward Drive-Inn in Waipahu…so ‘ono! Chef Chai’s prawns are so good! Everything on his menus are yummy!

Huge inspiration for traveling. Thank you, Chris.

Yeah, my grandparents came late 1900s. I was born in Hawaii. Thank you, Nana and Tata!
No, they were the last group to come here. The Chinese were the first group that's why they own most the island.

Im currently in Hawaii visiting from Australia and food prices are way higher here than in Oz and we are a first world country.
@ 9:30....Tiger prawns most likely farmed in Kahuku Aquaculture ponds,
The prawns are from Chai’s Bistro. You were talking to a world renowned chef! Thanks for showing Hawaii! 🤙
Wow they were amazing!
Looks like a perfect evening with the yummy foods and people. Enjoy!

My wife and I walked that street festival back in July. Lots of great food options.
My mouth is watering watching how much your wife loves the pineapple!!

The next time you are in Hawaii, I need to be your tour guide! You need some education half of the stuff you were saying is not correct
Like, whack-kee-kee?
Like not going to Costco for cheaper pineapples.
