  • Dutch Swing College Band w Johnny Meyer 1974 If I Could Be With You: recorded September 18 1974 and issued as "Johnny goes Dixie" and features a swinging Johnny Meyer on Accordian playing: yes you got it our very own Dixieland Jazz and a pleasing result it is as well; bearing in mind that in the early days of jass (the original name for jazz) any instrument available from the washing machine (washboard) to a saucepan would give the desired result. So why not the Accordian? If I Could Be With You (One Hour Tonight): The music was written by James P. Johnson, the lyrics by Henry Creamer. The song was published in 1926 and first recorded by Clarence Williams' Blue Five with vocalist Eva Taylor in 1927. It was popularized by the 1930 recording by McKinney's Cotton Pickers, who used it as their theme song. The Band: Peter Schilperoort leader, Cl, ASx, BSx; Bert de Kort Cnt; Dick Kaart Tb; Bob Kaper Cl, Asx, TSx; Johnny Meyer Accdn; Arie Ligthart Bj/Gtr; Henk Bosch van Drakestein Bs; Huub Janssen Dr. Track 12 of 13 Submitted: ULAJAZZ March 04 2012
