- A bunch of gamers become powerful wizards (see Mage Storytime) and then get dragged into the 40K universe to fix it.
In this episode, we offer everyone solutions. Simple as that.
Most of what I first learned about MtA is from the Alfabusa/Ogre Poppenang folks and sporadic reading of the fan wikias for WoD but then I listened to your first Mage Story Time at it provided some context for ideas I never considered for that game. I definitely learned how paradox works when you explained the marauder Mario character. I think I didn't realize the first story time series was a battle report from actual games. So now I'm wondering what type of roll challenges you're demanding of your players but with a large enough cooperative party, it sounds like at least one person will enough dots filled for a specific skill to save the whole party.
I'm also guessing that they're playing as high end near or already ascended Magi, too. I got the impression that a fully ascended Mage would be far in advance of Big E but Big E has the benefit of being the oldest "living" human psyker if we're using the TTS lore (I'd still like to believe Big E is the result of the shaman resurrection but am intrigued by the idea he's actually a Dark Age tech intelligence indistinguishable from a human) and maybe that is enough for how he browbeat the party into working for him? I'll need to relisten.
I might be listening to too many elven fans who point out that the Eldar are also powerful psykers, the oldest of whom are millions of years older than Big E as well (implication more powerful as well), though I did hear that Farseers just eventually turn into stone over time. Oh gosh, what if a member of the group tried to get smart and just brought a fully petrified Farseer to the Emperor and he just demands to know what he can do with this oversized paper weight
I'm glad you're enjoying the series. We are mostly at 3 dots of Arete right now, and will be leveling up after the next video. As for the difficulties, I generally place it around 7 or 8 for most magical roles (because magic does exist somewhat in the 40K universe). But I'm definitely more of a "rule of cool" storyteller than anything else. Plus, we have some very clever players, so between all of us we can usually BS something.
