He is stating the issues poorly he should be focusing on getting the government to allocate money by income not by caste THAT is the problem Patels are facing their kids are not getting into college without bribery they are not getting the government aide they need if they are poor because in India to remove the caste mentality Ghandi instituted money allocation by caste not income and that is the problem that needs addressing ... that will not be done simply by supporting a certain caste whether that is Patel or someone else. The problem is people get too fired up and this mentality of caste is still not changing and due to this social barrier people cannot address policies accurately because the argument becomes social not political
To change anything the social ignorance against any and all caste must be totally uprooted. IF that is done there will not be a fear that people will not get loans or admissions or houses because of their caste and THEN the allocation of additional government aid can be by income not by caste. The thought thus far was that to get rid of the caste mentality we must give the "lower" caste extra aid and that produced negative consequences long term for others. NOW to change all that the focus should be on aid by income and getting rid of this caste mentality entirely ... it is just like the institutional racism seeping through in American law enforcement or any other nation facing internal issues of racism and discrimination. The social change will affect policy change much more than the other way around. Social change in india can not be forced by policy it seems because the politics is disconnected from the people they politicians don't listen to all the voices only the majority so to change anything the answer is social change via EDUCATION. Educate the public on the ridiculousness of a caste mentality and watch a nation unite and truly prosper
