- 🇬🇧 Walking tour during Easter Holy Week (spa: Semana Santa) in Girona (Catalonia, Spain). Today we will see the Procession of the Holy Burial. The procession is led by a unit of Roman soldiers. They set the unhurried rhythm of the whole procession by hitting their spears on the asphalt. Behind them are columns of various Christian brotherhoods. They carry sculptures of Jesus Christ on carts. The heads of adult participants in the procession are covered with medieval pointed caps with holes for the eyes (spa: capirote), which symbolize penitent sinners.
🇪🇸 Tour a pie durante la Semana Santa en Girona (Cataluña, España). Hoy veremos la Procesión del Santo Entierro. La procesión está encabezada por una unidad de soldados romanos. Marcaban el ritmo pausado de toda la procesión golpeando con sus lanzas el asfalto. A continuación se encuentran las columnas de diversas cofradías cristianas, que son llevadas en carretas de esculturas de Jesucristo. Las cabezas de los participantes adultos en la procesión están cubiertas con gorros medievales puntiagudos con agujeros para los ojos (capirotes), que simbolizan a los pecadores penitentes.
🇷🇺 Пешеходная прогулка во время пасхальной Страстной недели (исп. Semana Santa) в Жироне (Каталония, Испания). Сегодня мы увидим Процессию Святого Погребения. Шествие возглавляет отряд римских солдат, которые ударами своих копий об асфальт задают неторопливый ритм всей процессии. Следом идут колонны различных христианских братств, везущие на повозках скульптуры Иисуса Христа. Головы взрослых участников процессии покрыты средневековыми остроконечными колпаками с отверстиями для глаз (исп. capirote), которые символизируют кающихся грешников.

I like the processions during Semana Santa in Spain
I have to say, seeing those Roman soldiers striking their spears could really have a psychological effect on people.

Yes, this is a kind of Spanish Via Crucis. Similar processions take place throughout Spain. And very often with Roman soldiers.
