we're currently doing a run where we only use trucks found in each area or that would make sense being used there. We are also trying to use different options than just buying the best possible vehicle and never deviating from it, all while on hardmode! It's incredibly rewarding.
I loved the step 310e . found it reliable and I never rolled it . Have a fondness for the underdog . But I always felt the place where you find the step and the tayga should of been switched with each other
So, returning here after I moved to Taymyr in my hardcore playthrough, and what can I say: its main advantage is that IT IS FREE. Yep, taking a while to unlock, but still. In hard mode, you always have little money and can't usually buy any truck you like, and dragging vehicles from other regions costs money. So, it's very convenient that you have a free truck lying around, and this truck is the only one of the free Taymyr vehicles that allows a sideboard+ crane option. It was a lifesaver for me, because I didn't want to use the Tayga with a semitrailer in tasks like various bricks pickups or the Cycle of Cargo contract, which requires having a 2-slot truck. I went to Zimnegorsk shortly after saving the Tayga and unlocking OHD tires (not playing in order, I don't like icy Alaska) just to take this truck, and I had enjoyed it ever since. It is light, nimble and rather stable when compared to other small offroad trucks like the ZIKZ 5, Kodiak or both TUZ 4x4s, due to having 3 axles. It is rather good as a mobile repair station as well. I have rescued all the vehicles in Rift and Quarry with it without ever tipping it over. Sadly, I had to replace it with an Azov 73210 for more versatility, but I will miss the bigger brother of the Crocodile for quite a time. It was a sad goodbye.
I use this truck frequently and still find it to be relevant in current phases. Although the tyres are sub par I have been looking for a tweak that rebalances the truck to what it should be. Even in its base game form it is basically a better version of the kodiak (a Truck I already know and love) that extra axle really gives it the leg up.
Russians realy carried on for a long time making the same stuff, and it did well because of the simplicity, how for the ZIL E133 which this truck is based of (in reality it's a bit of mix of everything) as well as the Lada Niva and the Riva model.
Thats sounds about right. Same as they did for the T-34 tank. Was just a simple model mass produced that worked well. Hey, if it works well for the job; why change it ya know?
It's one of the best trucks to start with if you skip ahead and unlock it. Tons of add ons, very fast even with off-road gearbox. Stability is good with dually rears.
I found this truck very useful in Kola Peninsula. It is very stable and I don't think I ever rolled it. The lack of mud tires wasn't an issue, as the chained tires work a lot better for climbing over rocks. Easily one of my favorite trucks.
I know everyone says this, but you really do the best reviews on snowrunner, purely factual without a lot of opinion, as well as good advice for working on these sub-optimal trucks like the C70. I would definitely like to see a video on the M916A1 sooner or later, it doesnt get a lot of talk despite it's performance
Hey thank you so much! I really try to shed positive light on vehicles as much as I can while injecting logical opinions as well. I definetly can put you on the list for a review. If you look at each videos description there is a google doc link that has trucks that are coming up next for review. I have you on the list as of now!
I like this truck too, and kept trying to make it do the Vorons' jobs... putting it on the top of my fuel and repair fleet that is mostly those HD US trucks for my no-recover playthrough makes way more sense, thanks for the video!
Been playing through the first half of Yukon and decided to re-buy this truck just to try it out (sold it off after getting it the first time) and I have really enjoyed it so far. It handles roads with dirt and surface mud just fine on the H-gear with AWD off in most cases even with trailers attached which saves a lot of fuel, making it last a whole lot longer than the small-ish fuel tank would suggest. Gonna keep using this one for sure. :)
Thanks for the video. Looks like a nice truck, but I haven’t unlocked it yet in my current play through. I emailed Saber Interactive about a guestion I had concerning Cross Save between the Nintendo Switch and Steam. Janna Goranskaya replied in two days and said that they plan to add that feature later. The Witcher 3 has that feature and since Saber Interactive brought that game to the Switch I thought I’d ask. I was so impressed that someone took the time to respond to my email that Saber Interactive is now my new favorite developer. Thought I’d share it with you and your viewers.
You're welcome, When you get it; give it a shot. Thats good that they got back to you so fast! I hope the whole crossplay thing works out well without bugs. Thank you for that great info! Saber is Awesome!
@@NProvince I’ll definitely give it a try when I get it. Could also just sell it and buy it back later? Did you see the Valve Steam Deck? It’s like a Switch but a lot better and plays most of the games from your Steam library. I think it’s all ready sold out till mid 2022 according the theverge.com. The only thing that’s hard about playing on the Switch or smaller screen is seeing the terrain in detail. On my small 38” ultra wide screen from Alienware you see everything. So much easier to see where the ruts are and easier to plan your route in the mud and snow. I don’t know if need ideas on videos for SnowRunner. But if I had the time I’d make a video on what makes SnowRunner so fun to play and different than other driving games. Just from looking at it as a driving game it looks boring and easy if you’ve never played it before. But once you start flipping your winch-less vehicle right when you get to your destination, you soon realize it’s anything but an easy game. Then it’s also like an RPG. You have to unlock vehicles and upgrades. Then you have different builds for vehicles. Then you have quest missions…. Just bringing this up because when I tell people that I work with about this game I play about driving trucks they kinda just give me the 🙄 look. Also I drank way too much coffee today. Sorry about the essay I just wrote.
The Step-toe actually works great on Imandra because it is so small. I find it very capable weaving through all those trees and other tight spaces. Awesome Vid Thanks.. 🤘😬🤘
For me it's the Russian Fleestar, but I find it more durable and stable. I neglected this little truck during my firsts playtimes. I've recently restarted a game from scratch and decided to give it a chance. Now it's a solid part of my fleet, a nice little workhorse, always avaible for the need of little and quick deliveries.
The CAT 770G! I definitely will get around to reviewing it. I need to brainstorm on how to make it interesting though due to it being only useable in very few ways.
The 310e is generally a good truck, but in all my playtroughs it ended up just being a fuel carrier due the lack of mud tires. As long as it sticks to somewhat safe areas, it is a great hauler. Especially because of its fuel economy.
In a lot of ways, off-road tires have been shown to outperform mud tires. This have been shown on my videos and others under certain conditions. TBH I love this truck. It’s really one of my favs. I’ve used it through 12 seasons of hardmode and it’s been a blast to use. Glad you have enjoyed it
Uh yeah indeed. Double tires have a special place in the hell, Mudrunner is =) Tho there are a lot of places where I wouldn't dare to pull trough with 43" offroad tires anymore. But this is probably more a topic of size rather than grip.
Super heavies tbh. I try to keep away from them a lot. They make the game much too easy. I’ll play with them to haul here and there but for the most part I just use them as supports. If that wasn’t the case it would be whatever I had gas in (hardmode)
I swear by the power of the ank Mk 58 civ, and I've used it for countless tasks before the tayga, the Step feels like a smaller, better centered ank, like a better wheel base and the same speed
Nice showcase man seen all i needed I don't have time for a 50/50 truck I'll sell it or it'll be mid map as a gas truck , also why do i keep hearing so many streamers of this game talking about high gear so often this isnt a race game? If you spend your time crashing and having lots of damage you need to play a racinfg game not mudrunnernor snowrunner this is patience and skill.
Glad you found this truck to be good. So alot of folks see high gear in the highrange gearbox as a means to travel fast. Me, I use the offroad box and i use highgear as a constant speed and more efficient means of travel. Offroad box still keeps it slow enough to give yourself time to turn. High gear is really effective as well with the torque boost
I mean I play the game not with map by map unless of the first region of Michigan. I try to get the best tires as fast as possible. After that I try to get the free trucks that are easy to obtain even if they require some tasks before. And then the game starts for me. But I only do this in Michigan and in Taymir. Especially in Taymir it is helpful for my hard mode run so I use the step more often.
Isn’t that the great thing about the game, you can play it how you want and still be successful? I do wish I could change a few things about the game with driver levels and such, but man the step is really a good truck. I use it on my hardmode as a tablet because it’s balance is good, but I’m debating on moving it up to one of my workhorse trucks to do missions. It really is a sleeper
It would be much better if the tayga and the Step swapped locations in my opinion. Also I wish there were more vehicles in drowned lands, like a starting vehicle and maybe a truck, that you find with the garage. I wasn't happy, that I had to bring US trucks in Taymyr. (without buying a russian truck)
Well I can agree that the Tayga should not have been so close to the garage being that its one of the most powerful vehicles in the game, but also in Alaska you didnt have vehicles by your garage like you did michigan. The start like that is pretty much michigan only. They never really meant to make trucks region specific. TBH US trucks do really well in most places. I would say having the Step and maybe the Zikz 5368 available super early in Taymyr woulda been great, but honestly most folks would just bypass those anyway by skipping ahead or buying an Azov
@@NProvince Well, we have what we have.🙂 I know there wasn't any starting vehicle in Alaska, but Alaska is a part of the US, so I didn't mind using trucks, that I found in Michigan. I like using free vehicles and I feel more comfortable with vehicles from the region I'm in. I'm currently working on Taymyr and using mainly free vehicles, that I found there is a bit challenging for me.
Honestly, I have a way better truck than this Step 310E, but it just felt so "easy" when I used them, so this is my go-to when playing. Love the, vid, keep it up!
Hey man am new here, is this truck better than my fleetstar, I am thinking about a replacement, my truck rolls over very easily and you said it's free and stable
Hey good question. So I’m a huge advocate of not jumping forward to get better trucks. Short answer, yes this is a good truck. However I think when you unlock the White Western Star in Michigan. I’d say that will be a very very strong truck for early game and will help be a workhorse. I’d also check out my mud running tips and my trailer review. The 310E is really strong though. Hopefully that helps man
How bout the Tayga's big brother? The other Tayga, I forgot the name. The one you pay $8 for but still have to go through 9,868 hours of game play just to unlock...
I think they should add a "Russian Start" to the game where your starter scout is the Tuz 166 and this is the truck waiting for you at the garage.
That would be a really cool scenario!
