I’m using a Auralic Vega S1 right now, with the extra Power supply, and it sounds great in my system. The system is Aavik U-150, with DAC and Phono and Kudos Titan 808 loudspeakers 👌🏻
I also have the Vega S1 with the power supply, running into a Naim amp, Townshend Isolda speaker cables, Fractal F1 interconnects, and a pair of Dali Menuet SE speakers sat on Solidsteel SS-6 stands. Sound is stunning. Everything in this review is spot on, no freezes in the 2-3 months since new 👍 Awesome kit
Thank you for this interesting review. Have you been able to compare the sound quality 1. Auralic Vega S1 vs Eversolo DMP-A8 2. AV S1 vs Wiim Ultra+AV S1 DAC vs Wiim Ultra+your best 1500usd DAC.
Earlier documentation mentioned the S1 series implementing Dirac. Is this still going to be an option? Nobody seems to mention it in the reviews that I’ve watched
Some say that the Gustard X30 with volume seems to be the winner at the moment but others say this is more smooth but has no WiFi. But why is this or the Harmony better or more analog than the Pontus or Fezz Equinox dacs 🤔 The next step is to save up to the honey sweet AAdac with volume and I can not say if the Canor Dac best the Amber dac 🤔
5:36 Screens in streamers (even the Rose 🌹 ) are problematic at anything past 10 feet ..and give the median age of this community..the iPad or their Phone 📱 offers superior performance and interface.
Both those can degrade sound, they are going for higher end. It comes with a lesser power supply already. I like the option to upgrade latter or use a power supply you already have.
Auralic actually has WiFi on their higher end models and says it is preferred over Ethernet (I have the Aries G2.2 and to my surprise it is true). So more a cost saving on the S1 I think. Nonetheless a very impressive piece of kit!
No wifi? Seems like all streaming DAC's should offer wifi, especially since many lower tier models offer it. Let the end user decide between wifi and ethernet.
@@mkfmkf55 it doesn't offer it because it is high end. Sound quality can degraded by the wifi radios and extra circuitry. Which doesn't matter at the low end because low end systems can't resolve smaller changes to the signal.
@@Pete.across.the.street they could still offer it and let the user decide to use it or not. Unless having the capability somehow degrades the unit. Definitely creates a steel wall between demographics.
@Pete.across.the.street Thing is, Auralic recommend using WiFi, rather than a wired connection for their streamers due to noise issues... Says so in the documentation,. In my Aries G2.2 user manual anyway.

What happened to the Weiss 204 Dac?
how does this sound compared to the dmp a8?
I would also like to know this?
Most valuable DAC ever had

The Aurail Ares S1 is a streamer only that works with external dacs. Looks the same and can use the same external power supply.
I still running a Wiim Pro into a Denafrips Ares 12-1 DAC …😉
Yikes😂
? Yikes ….may i enquirer why “yikes” ..just curious 👀

Have a great day ☕️
How’s does the Auralic S1 w/power supply used in pure DAC mode, compare to AGD Alto MKII Preamp DAC when both were used with the Rose streamer?
Very nice
Those loudspeakers are better-looking than my wife. lol. 😂

Dirac will follow for this unit, in that case it is the top
I wonder how this stack up against the Volumio Motivo

No, Gustard X30 very bad for his price, Sabre chip is syntetic and bright.
Does something like the EVO Ethernet filter have a positive impact on this device?

Nice, too bad no touch screen or wifi for $2K. They should throw in the pwr supply instead of another 1K. (My opinion)

I am insulted by the implication that less is more when it comes to omitting the wi-fi.

And according to Auralic that recommends using WiFi over wired connection on other streamers e.g. Aries G2 2...
