Nice test Mikael. I'd have expected quite a bit more speed out of the Destroyer with the brushless motor. Is it the tiddly little battery holding it back?
Thanks, Pete. I expected it to be around 40 kph so not far off. Don’t think it is the battery. It’s a 7.4v 2S Li-Ion and I normally only get 1-3 kph more out of a 7.4v 2S LiPo (although the ‘punch’ and acceleration usually increases). I think it’s due to the small motor size (maybe it really can’t pull the car that fast) and then the gear ratio HBX usually uses. Lower than other brands like WLToys. HBX’s 1/18 usually do around 30 kph with a 380/390 motor where WLToys usually do around 40 kph with their 1/18 and 390 motors. Think it is a wise choice for HBX. A lot of beginners start with these, and it means less trouble with gears (and crashes).
@@NordicRC I haven't got any buggies smaller than 1/10 scale so I don't really know about the smaller electronics. I was just thinking that my Aqroshot with a 3500kv motor and 2s lipo went 39mph (63kph) so I was expecting yours to be at least 30mph. These buggies do seem good for the money but I'll probably stick to 1/10 scale. I had a go on a friend's WLtoys 14401 the other day. Really nice to drive and very well engineered for the money. Hope you are enjoying your weekend. I'm just charging some batteries and then off out RC'ing 😁
Yeah, size really matters - both when it comes to the model and motors - and other things to my personal regret 😢... 😅😅 😉 I like these small ones. Easy to pack and store. But my true love is also 1/10. Just the perfect size 🙂👍🏻 I am spending the day cutting trees down ... hmm ... to be honest, I would rather be charging batteries and heading out ☺️
Funny, those are the two HBX cars I am considering buying, so the video is really good info for me, I think I'll get the Destroyer at some point. Thanks for putting it together, always a joy to watch your videos!
Man I’ve had my destroyer for a while now & I can’t break anything, this the fastest 16 scale out the box 📦 I’ve seen , they out did they self , with this one ☝️, I mean absolutely the best out there !!!
I have had the hailstorm for quite a time now and my 6yo son drives it quite frequently. It is a tough little beast, has the right amount of speed and punch. I had to replace a diff and broken driveshafts (switched to metal ones) and one of the screws on the front steering knuckles likes to pop out, but for the abuse they take (=full battery spent on donuts in the dirt at full power...) I can highly recommend them. I have upgraded the shocks to oil filled ones, which improves the handling quite a bit, but I don't think my son cares ;) I also have a destroyer still on the shelf and haven't tried it yet, but also with this one I have already changed the shocks for oil filled ones. If the destroyer proves to be as durable as the hailstorm than bot are trucks I can highly recommend. The destroyer looks very sound mechanically, so I'll expect it to be quite a winner. I have a Xinlehong 9137 which is similar size. This one has eaten spur gears, driveshafts and other parts. But for this I can blame it on my older son being driving it more aggressive ;)
I have XLH 9125 and WLTOYS 124018. I love the size of the 9125 but the speed of the 124018. I'm currently looking for a brushless truck and am thinking of a SG1602 or a Q903. Any thoughts as to which would be better. Q903 is a bit dearer, however, if it's worth the extra money then I'll go for it. Thoughts?
Does the Destroyer feature a slow setting or "throttle limiter" like the hailstorm or the brushed Rampage? And what's the maximum speed in the limited setting?
Def. Dig the destroyer. Put 1/12th scale 12428 tires on it and she rips. 26 mph on stock battery's. W/out shock upgrades though ,kinda hesitant to try it. The thing bounces then tumbles stock. Much faster w/out and Its uncontrollable
Subscribed from Portugal 🇵🇹 start watching your videos about the wltoys 979-b, 144001 , and ended up buying the two, but this hbx are making me think if that was a good choice...
Nice! Welcome on board! I think one can’t go wrong with either WLToys and HBX cars at all. For the price both the WLToys and HBX are good value. WLToys tend to gear their cars higher than HBX, so more top speed. But more top speed means less control, more serious crashes and quicker battery consumption. So it really depends what one is looking for.
Yeah, just shows how inaccurate a GPS is. Think I had a longer run way here plus I walked with the car, which resulted in the GPS updating more. It’s difficult with the low radio range of these 1/18 HBX.

Glad it was useful! Thanks a lot for watching, mate!

It's definitely one of my favorites too!
I'm getting the 16890A is that the same as the 16890?. Couldn't make my mind up between this or the Hosim 2845.
I really love the HBX Destroyer 16890 Brushless!!
Me too 🙂

Hi Chris! Yeah, tough little trucks. Got some shocks waiting too, I think that's the only thing they really need. Thanks a lot for watching!

Great speed test enjoyed Bro 👊🏻👍🏻
Thank you my mate!
Destroyer. for two reasons. It's brushless, and the tires looks to be more "multi purpose"
Yeah, I like it too! The Hailstorm is a fun runner, but just the motor and the radio makes the Destroyer a winner.
Does the Destroyer feature a slow setting or "throttle limiter" like the hailstorm or the brushed Rampage? And what's the maximum speed in the limited setting?
Been a long time since I ran this one. If I remember correctly it has throttle dual rate, which means you can limit the top speed.
Yes Destroyer does have a limiter. Probably around a 5 to 6mph difference from slowest to top speed
Do they use the same shocks system
No, different scales.
I just got a Ravage that is like a destroyer and it’s a great truck.
Yeah, it's the 16889? They should pretty much be the same, yes, apart from the body etc.
Do you have any advice on tire selection I've looked all over Amazon for wheels for the 18858 (hailstorm).
No. Sorry. I just use the stock ones.

Yeah, it’s a good truck. Got some oil filled shocks ready for it.
Cool RCs,great video
Thank you, Duke!
What is the run time on the Blomiky Destroyer 2435 Brushless 4WD?
I am going to buy the HBX 16890. Hey Nordic can you do a More detailed review on the controller because I need more info about it.
It’s a great car for the price, I think. Ahh, nothing much to say about the controller. Pretty standard and it works ☺️
Nordic RC Visions tq for the reply

Does anyone know what motor and esc upgrades I can do on this truck?
Play hailstorm is going fast than usual today.

But yes, these GPS speed runs are always a bit inaccurate. Always +/- a few kph/mph.

Essa marca é boa? Bom dia!
I love rc cars but I have a broken one so I’m waiting for cristmas to get a new one
Hope you will get one!
The Destroyer. The size, overall look and speed. Which a 3800kv should scream. Don't understand that part.
Yeah! Uhh, scream? You mean the speed? I think overall HBX use a lower gear ratio than WLToys and others. I think it's fast enough for it's size :-)
Yeah.... I do tent to over power things.
Run it on 2s pls
Got an old video with it on 2S on my second channel
hailstorm
It’s a nice little one for sure
