How are both of these movies that high! Fifty shades of grey maybe because it could be funny in a sick way, but this! Well then again no critics probably saw this movie to review.
+Snow Mystique Not even the reviewers saw Jem. On Rotten Tomatoes, I only see one positive review for it, so percentage-wise, ya it got a higher percentage than it should. But if there were more reviews of it, I'm sure it would be down to 1% or less..
+Snow Mystique Wait a sec. 50 Shades of Shit has 24% on RT?For real?!I have seen 90's softcore porn on cable, with better acting, dialogue, directing and more sex then this crapfest!
+Austin Schute I'm still crying over the $20 I spent on this thing last weekend, after I watched the Black Nerd Rants on the Jem trailer at least 60 times over the last 5 months. And he told is the whole plot in 2 minutes. In short, don't do it, please don't do it!
The movie was $5 million to make, and even the execs knew it'd fail. They said they'd be happy if it would recoup $3 million. It failed so hard, it didn't even make $2 million.
That Other Review Dude I highly doubt that they'll show this overseas since it bombed so badly in the US. Doing that would probably cost them more than they would hope to profit.
+Jordan Ceasar Nah, the first warning was the announcement of the casting call for "talented, triple-threat teens" brought to you by team Justin Beaver. Wasn't hard to figure out they weren't actually making a Jem movie.
+ZackTheThunderking Truly truly truly atrocious! Jeeem it's truly atrocious! Truly truly truly atrocious! WE ARE THE MISFITS, WE MADE THIS MOVIE, TO TARNISH, THEIR HOLOREPUTATION
It's always the dream to roll up into a empty theater! I use to love going to theaters during the day when I was a kid and there was no one there but us. That doesn't happen as much when you work a 8AM to 5PM job during the week and you can only see movies during week nights or weekends. Thanks for the video! Chain Chomp!
Disneyland Experience depends on the movie. I went to see a kids movie at like 7 pm and it was nearly entirely empty like a dad and his son show up like 15 minuets into the movie
When I would watch Jem as a kid (yes, I'm a dude who watched this show) what I took away from it was that Jem was a character who helped her viewers learn to make responsible choices, in a way that didn't talk down to the viewers and was genuinely entertaining. It was about music, but also about right and wrong and family. The idiots who made this movie just completely missed the point. In the Transformers and TMNT movies, even though they change a lot and aren't anything more than average action movies, they at least captured something of the spirit of the originals. This just doesn't.
RebelTaxi's review sums everything up with what's wrong with the Jem movie and I find it ironically hilarious that the best part of the movie to you guys was the sequel bait. LOL
I watched this movie all by myself and had no one to vent to in the immediate aftermath. This YT video was one of the first things I watched after just to hear someone else voice my pain. 5 years later and I still haven't forgotten the outrage. haha
I know I'm coming to you six year later (LOL) but OMG, you and Chrissa Sparkles need to make more videos together like this. This is my go-to when I am having a bad day and need a good laugh. And yes, the last five minutes when the Misfits showed up and I was like, "OK, this movie's finally picking up now" and then it was over. I was like, WTF?????????? LOL! Keep being awesome. :)
I have no idea who you are or what your channel is about, but your laughter is infectious and you brightened my day - thanks for such a silly, giggly, fun video
Nerd, do you realize that your laughter could be used for a super villain? Legit, I think the laugh at 7:02 is the best cheesy villain laugh I've ever heard.
This is a huge disappointment. I never watched the TV show, but I am a HUGE fan of the IDW comic. They had a chance to make something really fun and Scott Pilgrim styled, but the reviews I have seen are god awful. :(
+Trailer Drake Dude..a Scott Pilgrim style movie for Jem would've been _amazing_. (I mean, you'd probably need to get Edgar Wright himself involved with the project for it to actually work, but still)
I never seen the show or the movie (although there is something rather familiar about the tv show) but even i know this movie was a complete sloppy pile of glitter, toxic, humanly wast and crap... may we all forget this tragdy ingraved into our skulls ever happened as it rightfully earns its place in Hell.
Oh man, you either more brave or more devoted than I am. Maybe... MAYBE... one day I'll see this movie on a long plane ride or something, but I definitely won't make a point to watch it, if only because I don't want to put that energy into the universe that this is OK!
I'm so happy that you saw the Jem movie... mainly so I didn't have to. I'm even happier that you and Chrissa saw it together and talked about it since you did a video on it previously. I'm sad that Jem was bad because I want to see a movie where Ke$ha is the villain and making her a misfit makes a lot of sense. I actually was about to ask Chrissa how many times people think she's wearing a costume, but I think I got my answer.
Jem seems like one of those movies I'll keep almost watching on Netflix. You know those movies that when you see that it's on Netflix you say, "I might watch that" but you never actually watch it. I'm currently doing that with the first season of Gotham
"At the very least wait until its on DVD...next week." That had me nearly spitting out my drink, glad I got back to watching your vids man. Oh man, you took a bullet for nerds everywhere by watching and reviewing this movie, thank you, thank you.
Just checked the box office results. In two weeks, Jem and the Holograms have *dropped* from 15th, to 21st place - and *still* hasn't made back even half of their budget. Hell, hasn't even broke the $2 million mark. That is just pathetic (and I'm laughing so hard! So glad this movie failed on such an epic level - and, despite what Jon M. Chu says, he and Universal only have themselves to blame for it).
Mateo Diaz That's still not even half of their $5 million budget, though. And considering it's already been released internationally, (which is probably where that increase in sales came from), I somehow doubt Latin America is going to to bump those sales much higher.
+Jakharr Vinta For the first time in history, Jem fans and Avatar fans have something in common --their pain from watching a *horrible* movie adaptation of an awesome cartoon show.
First of all, one of the best reviews ever! I am in tears over this. XD Though if i have to point one little thing out, technically, Rio DID sing in cartoon, it is true he had Riot's VA but still, he sang like 5 words or something in This Is Farewell, the final song of the series, not sure you can class that as him singing but he did so I guess you could say the film was very very loosely correct on that part....sort of...maybe...alright, scratch that, we will say it doesn't matter if only for the sake that the cartoon would be tarnished if we class this as a slight connection to the movie. And I may not have seen the film (seriously, I would rather watch paint dry and then after 5 hours of that I would rather have another 5 hours of watching grass grow) but I saw the Misfits clip and yes! Totally yes! I would go to that film in a heart beat! Though I do hate how they have Stormer, she was the one who never really was a huger follower of Pizzaz and co, she did so to fit in but she had a good heart and had a conscience but in that clip it made her out to be just as much a bitch as what the others were when she always stood back a bit, her replies, most of the time, were weak when she agreed with her other band members, if the sequel was to be made I can see them making her a total bitch just like Pizzaz, Roxy and Jetta which takes her away from her character so I am just thankful it is highly doubtful a sequel will be made.
Somehow, the last 2 times I've gone to the theater with my Nana around my birthday, we were one of the only ones there. One of these movies was Inside Out. The joys of seeing the movie at the tailend of it's theater time.
i've been smiling and giggling through this whole video because it's not even about a bad movie at all, just two people laughing a lot and having a good time out of a bad movie and that's just a fun little way to spent 10 minutes on youtube. looking forward to the review lol.
Well the original material isn't popular enough, I think. Avatar and DBZ and Transformers and TMNT and Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Smurfs all had a huge following before the live action versions of those came out...this show doesn't even have that!
+joesatmoes Actually, there _is_ an audience for Jem (including people that buy 100+$ collectible dolls based on the original characters). Women who, as adults (including myself) would have brought their daughters to see, happily. The problem arises is that in making the movie like they did, they essentially pissed off almost the entirety _of that fanbase_, who (myself included), are pretty much boycotting it. So, they (Chu, Universal, et al.) pretty much shot themselves in the foot. If they had stuck closer to the source material, I probably would've gone to see this in 3D, or something, with my two daughters, my brother, my mother, and anyone I could drag along with me.
***** Well, I mean I barely ever heard about the series before Andre started talking about it. I don't doubt its quality, but just...when I hear of popular 80s or 90s things, I don't think I've ever heard of Jem.
joesatmoes That's because girl properties don't get as much public "hype" in geek culture as boy ones. Jem lasted a full 65 episode run, it was quite popular, but it's not heard much about, anymore, because it was a girl property. My Little Pony (before the whole Brony thing) was the same way, as was Rainbow Brite, Also, if you're a guy, which I gather you are, I doubt you go around seeking out female-targeting stories.
***** Ah, yes. I'm angry because my idol is trying out acting because she chooses to not make music with Dr Luke (Person who abuses her) and that her career is going down the line because the court case is next year. I'm so mad that she is in a film... So mad
***** She was in more than just Jem... She was in Jane The Virgin and she's apparently to be in more films. And what? this does have things to do with her legal battle. She picked up akting because its the ONLY way she can make money at the moment. She can't record or release any music, she can't go on tour with no new music to perform, she can't sell merch at all, so how is she going to make money when she is tied up with all of these lawsuits and allegations. This does have something to do with her personal life because its how she can get PAID. I know a lot more about Kesha than you do atm so don't say my opinions are bias
Lmao I finally broke down and watched Jem today...OMG...awful! Hahahah. The only best part is the end "Pizzazz"...boom then movie is over..! Haha. Synergy was Wall-E Hahahah! And Aja stealing sunglasses...😂y'alls review was spot on!!!
I saw the movie Spice World alone in the movie theater when I was about 15 years old. I was supposed to meet my friends at the theater to go see Titanic. I was late, it was sold out, so Spice World it was for me! Upon reflection, I may have seen the better movie.....
LOVE Spice World! All my friends were all about Titanic at the time, but I refused. Twice when we went to the movies, I went off with one other friend and saw Spice World then another time Tomorrow Never Dies :)
Yeah, we walked and laughed after seeing the last airbender years ago in the theaters, stamping around and doing those insanely stupid bending moves. We were in the parking lot for two hours after seeing it dying at how bad the film was.
Heh... less than 30 secs in and already "Wait? That came out?"... I remember seeing a few eps as a kid (as I would watch any cartoon that was on)... I remember hearing this was coming out and thinking "Why? Who was asking for this?"
I am binge watching the original series to redeem my faith in the existence of glamour, glitter, fashion and fame.
I'm so sorry #jem
I'm sorry. #Jem
I'm sorry #jem
I'm sorry....I'm so so sorry #jem
I'm sorry for your loss... and that I laughed so much at it. #jem

Really hope you enjoy my Jem movie experience. Tell me some of your strangest moviegoing experiences in the comments.
What you think of that movie because I wasn't planing to go to see it.
+Black Nerd Comedy , I FRIGGIN KNEW IT!! THE MISFITS WERE IN THE END/MIDCREDIT SCENES! I FRICKIN KNEW IT!!!
can you please do a goosebumps movie review
+Austin Schute I'm still crying over the $20 I spent on this thing last weekend, after I watched the Black Nerd Rants on the Jem trailer at least 60 times over the last 5 months. And he told is the whole plot in 2 minutes. In short, don't do it, please don't do it!
+Black Nerd Comedy You are a hero for seeing this movie! A HERO!
The budget for this film was only $5 million and it *still* couldn't make a profit.
The movie was $5 million to make, and even the execs knew it'd fail. They said they'd be happy if it would recoup $3 million. It failed so hard, it didn't even make $2 million.
+jaydork24 Well lets not count it out yet I think it can still make 3 mil overseas
😂 re: it playing overseas. That's a good one.
Hey they need to find some way to make their money and if we combine global revnue it just might make 3 mill
That Other Review Dude I highly doubt that they'll show this overseas since it bombed so badly in the US. Doing that would probably cost them more than they would hope to profit.
"Kesha is the Thanos of the Jem Movie universe!" LMAO!
I will never get tired of rewatching this video.
It’s one of my favorite videos of bad movies 😂
After that initial trailer I was like there's no way this could be anything short of a infinite looped trainwreck of disappointment
Good to see you in the comments Alpha! :D
+AlphaOmegaSin The initial trailer screamed "Cash grab", "We don't give a fuck about your childhood", and "Give us your money for this pile of crap!"
+Fafnd
At least we know there were twenty people who liked the movie.
+AlphaOmegaSin
Hi Alpha!
Yep. But I took one for the team ha ha!
the trailer should have been everyone's first warning about this movie
It was for me
Same here. I was like, "oh your dad died and believed in you and built you a shitty robot?", well this movie is going to suck ass
+Jordan Ceasar Was* everyone's warning about the movie.
Oh god, I can't tell you how I felt after watching that trailer. I almost destroyed my computer
+Jordan Ceasar Nah, the first warning was the announcement of the casting call for "talented, triple-threat teens" brought to you by team Justin Beaver. Wasn't hard to figure out they weren't actually making a Jem movie.
"Kesha is the Thanos of the Jem Movie Universe...."
Oh Good Lord. That totally made my day XD XD XD XD XD
this video needs 15000 more views then you get your record deal.
Oh my gosh, we're going to be internet famous! That's the next best thing to being actually famous!
+Black Nerd Comedy no... just.. no.
+Travis Knese (QA Guy) He made it!
Its the big time from now on.
+Black Nerd Comedy OUTRAGEOUS
Let me know if YOU saw the Jem movie!
I believe Pixels deserves an apology.
+29AndreG Ooooh that's a tough one... but yeah I think Pixels is better.
+Black Nerd Comedy Sorry for your loss... of time lol. #Jem
+Black Nerd Comedy i haven't seen it. BTW check the comments of Chrissa's newest video and look at how many sorry #jem comments there are.
+Black Nerd Comedy This is bad! You have to write the review. The good and the bad!
This video is still gold, the real ones remember the Black Nerd classics
I always come back to this one
@@TheKingShyGuy. Same I usually come back to the 2014 - 2017 Black Nerd era. Pretty much his heyday of content since he was popping off then
Love it! 😂 Chrissa rules
it's truly truly atrocious
+ZackTheThunderking And honestly, that's truly, truly outrageous
DjAtomica 95 indeed
+ZackTheThunderking Truly truly truly atrocious!

Sorry you had an awful day but welcome Play Cousin to the Black Nerd family!
+Black Nerd Comedy Oh my gosh! Andre, I can't believe you replied. I feel so honoured 😊

Because the sequel bait should have been the movie!

I watched this movie all by myself and had no one to vent to in the immediate aftermath. This YT video was one of the first things I watched after just to hear someone else voice my pain. 5 years later and I still haven't forgotten the outrage. haha

I wish Chrissa did videos again! She was entertaining as hell!
This was one of the funniest vlogs I've ever see.
Please do more walking and ranting, preferable along with a really likable funny guest like Chrissa.
Kesha as PIzzazz?? That's amazing! Why wasn't that the movie?!?!
It was...in the end credits
This video probably has more views than the movie itself lol
I just kept laughing. I can relate to this two, circling around the parking lot just discussing crap and laugh so hard.
+TheBlackKnightGamer Who says I'm not one already? But perhaps I've said too much... or you know too much... 7:02
This is a huge disappointment. I never watched the TV show, but I am a HUGE fan of the IDW comic. They had a chance to make something really fun and Scott Pilgrim styled, but the reviews I have seen are god awful. :(
Hey Drake :)
you could play some good games and read your favorite comics
It actually made me laugh, It was so bad. And current generation ponies back in the 90's.
+Trailer Drake Dude..a Scott Pilgrim style movie for Jem would've been _amazing_.
(I mean, you'd probably need to get Edgar Wright himself involved with the project for it to actually work, but still)

I love that more people will see this than the actual movie!
To this day, this remains my favorite movie review you ever did! 🤣🤣🤣
Chrissa is so lovely!
The Thanos of the Jem movie universe!? Lmao

Yeah it hit 2.0mill already
Mateo Diaz
Unless it made more money in the last two days, it made just over $1.9 million.
Madame Fluffy yeah it has made $2,036,000 so far. It is supposedly about to be released in latin america and a lot of people want to see it there
Mateo Diaz
That's still not even half of their $5 million budget, though.
And considering it's already been released internationally, (which is probably where that increase in sales came from), I somehow doubt Latin America is going to to bump those sales much higher.
+Mateo Diaz The 1K for Iceland and 6K from Slovenia will save the god awful sequel.
Is it worse than The Last Airbender?
+Jakharr Vinta No, The Last Airbender was still worse.
+Jakharr Vinta no but its almost there
Nothing is.
+Jakharr Vinta For the first time in history, Jem fans and Avatar fans have something in common --their pain from watching a *horrible* movie adaptation of an awesome cartoon show.
Nothing cinematic, anyway.
I smiled so much watching this video my cheeks hurt.😂
Awww this was really awesome of you 2 to do this & very enjoyable
There needs to be more Black Nerd & Chrissa Videos. :D
"Don't support Harbro movies"... B-but but I enjoyed all Equestria Girls movies:(
+yugoxgc A-And the MLP movie is going to be in 2017. :(
I think they meant live-action Hasbro movies (mainly Transformers)
rbraunbeck96 oh screw those... all of them... Transformers & others
rbraunbeck96 Agreed.
+yugoxgc Ironically, if you want a more authentic Jem-esque experience, you're better off re-watching Rainbow Rocks.
9:53 It's Blair Witch! Jem Witch, and just like the girl in the movie, you two were no doubt on the verge of tears.
Chrissa Sparkles is Just Cute!
She's too cute!
I knew I wasn't going to see this movie anyway. But thank you both for taking the pain for the rest of us. I'm so sorry you both suffered so.
First of all, one of the best reviews ever! I am in tears over this. XD

Omg... watching you two REALLY makes me want to go to the movies with you guys! Hilarious!! My cheeks literally HURTS from laughing!
This has to the hardest I've laughed at any of your videos and I enjoy all your stuff!
Andre, I give you the award of dignity. Never would I go see a movie at 1 am, nor eve this movie. You, my friend, have true charisma.
Andre, I want to bottle your laugh haha :'D
I saw this in theaters, because I had opted to write a review of it for a newspaper. I felt the same way you two did.
I would pay to see this in a theater versus Jem any day.
His giggling is so contagious
Question: Why didn't the movie take place in the 80's? The 80's had a large amount of girl bands. Or even the 90's to early 2000's.
The Misfits showing up at the end was my favorite part, too! That really should have been the movie! They set up a sequel that will never happen.
Can we just take a quick moment to realize that Shana was whitewashed in this movie?
I totally wanna date a girl like Chrissa Sparkles she has so much positive energy!! glows!!! love it!!!
I feel like I'm watching a version of "The Last of Us" only instead of a zombie apocalypse, it's the death of nostalgic cinema...
Somehow, the last 2 times I've gone to the theater with my Nana around my birthday, we were one of the only ones there. One of these movies was Inside Out. The joys of seeing the movie at the tailend of it's theater time.
Oh I thought she was in a costume as well xD
i am soo sorry for your pain...but your reaction is too funny lol through the tears.
Well, I'm glad they chose Kesha as a misfit! That actually is a good cast.
+Tykira Maybe if the movie starring Ke$ha was about the Misfits, I'd probably watch that than Jem (this version)
I find this review more entertaining than the actual movie. Thank you Andre and Chrissa for taking one for us playcousins.
"ARE YOU GUYS VLOGGING?! YOU SHOULD BE ARRESTED YOU KNOW!"
Thank you for taking one for the team! #Jem #StickingToTheCartoon
This video still makes me laugh so hard. Btw 238K views, where's Andre's record deal?
"Kesha is the Thanks of the Jem universe" - Black Nerd. That was an epic line.
So you would say this inst a gem of a movie.
How dare you :)
Black Nerd Comedy
I may have just made the worse pun even to get you to reply that quickly i feel proud of myself now.
Pa tum tsssshhhh
The best part is that they actually made a mid-credit scene so they could tease a sequel.
A car? Andre "Black Brad Jones"!
Andre cackling at 7:00 is epic. Your stomach had to be hurting by the end of this clip!
+BillH2949 My stomach was hurting by the end of the movie :)
+Black Nerd Comedy
This is the most funniest moments I ever seen you two did together :) #playcousin lol
Me and my friends were gonna go see this but we saw The Martian instead. Thank God.
This isn't a costume!! LMAO YASSS!!
God, this movie makes The Last Airbender look like Scott Pilgrim.
No....we never forget and we never forgive......
+Doki Doki Horonigaidesu Gumiworm Z Hell no lol XD
i've been smiling and giggling through this whole video because it's not even about a bad movie at all, just two people laughing a lot and having a good time out of a bad movie and that's just a fun little way to spent 10 minutes on youtube. looking forward to the review lol.
I wanna know at which theater did they (Andre and Hottie Chrissa)see this at??Someone please do tell me??
Chrissa is the embodiment of Aja from the original cartoon. I really like her! Thanks for putting me on to her channel!
I mean thank you for the review 😂😂😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed the video!
+Black Nerd Comedy This movie is definitely going to be known as the true successor to the TV show.
i love how chrissa handles the guy commenting on her "costume". like seriously! she's flawless. x)
Will this movie become a classic for being so bad? Probably not.
+Riley Riley Thing is it's not even so bad it's good, it's just bad in the most uninspired way
Well the original material isn't popular enough, I think. Avatar and DBZ and Transformers and TMNT and Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Smurfs all had a huge following before the live action versions of those came out...this show doesn't even have that!

I don't doubt its quality, but just...when I hear of popular 80s or 90s things, I don't think I've ever heard of Jem.
joesatmoes
That's because girl properties don't get as much public "hype" in geek culture as boy ones.
This is so much more satisfying to watch than I expect the movie to be.
Like they always say..."Some Things Are Best Left In The Past."
"Kesha is the Thanos of the Jem Movie Universe."
You sold me, I'll have to buy it when it comes out on VHS.
This made me laugh so hard! Love your Channel!!
+Morgan Poor Thank you. I really appreciate when people enjoy me making videos like this. It's fun to get outside.
+Black Nerd Comedy Thank you so much! You always make me laugh and I love your videos!
I'm so happy that Kesha was in this film. I love her!!
***** Haha, what?
***** She doesn't want to work with her producer dr luke and she can't leave the contract,so she acts to get money... see how they're linked?
+Remy O What was Ke$ha doing in the manger?
Now the real question... Was it better or worse thanThe Last Avatar movie?
+GinKadia I felt it was worst mainly because we'll eventually get another TLA movie will never get another Jem.
+That Other Review Dude TLA was supposed to be be three movies but it bombed so bad they scrapped it.
+Chu E. I heard m night shiyamaun is still trying to get a sequel green lit
+Iqbalx1 oh god no!
+GinKadia NOTHING is worse than The Last Airbender -_-
Andre your laugh is very contagious. LOL!
Lmao I finally broke down and watched Jem today...OMG...awful! Hahahah. The only best part is the end "Pizzazz"...boom then movie is over..! Haha. Synergy was Wall-E Hahahah! And Aja stealing sunglasses...😂y'alls review was spot on!!!
thanks andre this had me laughing and help brighten up my day
the only hardcore gem fan on the planet.
Omg, Kesha as Pizzazz sounds amazing. Now I'm upset that there will probably never be a sequel with the Misfits!
Now i want popcorn....
me too
+TuxedoKnox *finishes eating popcorn right as im reading this comment
I went to the Dark Knight Rises and a guy came in with a gym bag. Thankfully, nothing happened, but I was terrified.
"Ke$ha is the Thanos of the Jem universe." LMAO Best comment, Andre!!!
Yeah, we walked and laughed after seeing the last airbender years ago in the theaters, stamping around and doing those insanely stupid bending moves. We were in the parking lot for two hours after seeing it dying at how bad the film was.
Chrissa just earned a sub! mainly for dealing with the "I like your costume" ignorance from the passer by, but also personality. :)
I loved Jem when I was little, I'm sad this apparently sucks so bad. :(
Heh... less than 30 secs in and already "Wait? That came out?"... I remember seeing a few eps as a kid (as I would watch any cartoon that was on)... I remember hearing this was coming out and thinking "Why? Who was asking for this?"

Chrissa is so...sparkle. xD
I love her running in the theater.
BNC: Coming to you "live on location" from a parking garage!
+Boj Osborne You never know where I might turn up.
+Black Nerd Comedy So does that mean you could be right behind me right now?
