After playing for so long and reading on lore, this is a very sad game. None of that is real. The basements, monsters, none of it. Isaac is escaping into his own mind, making up such things to leave from the abuse and malice of the real world. With the father leaving and the death of siblings, his mother became cruel and unforgiving, but Isaac doesn’t know that. He’s a child, he can’t understand why his mother abuses him and hurts him, so he turns to the Bible for answers and thinks he is a sinner who can not be helped or forgiven. Stricken with grief and pain, he hides in his toy chest, where he lives out the fantasy of becoming a hero, but locks himself in and dies. The player starting a game is him reliving the world he has made.
The game is all in his head after he hides in a chest in the basement. Everything in the games is his nightmares, fears, and depression. And all the poop around the levels probably means he pooped himself in the chest.
Chromevod Well... he does in Isaacs imagination. in truth everthing who happens in this trailer and in the supposed first ending are just from Isaacs imagination.
My god, I have played this game for like 5 days or something like that, and I CAN'T stop playing this. Everytime I close my eyes, I see The Binding of Isaac. If you haven't gotten The Binding of Isaac yet, buy it, because it's fucking addicting, and because the rooms are randomly generated, you don't have to worry about repeated playing.
+REDJUICE_ Yep! Never played the game but I know that Satan can disguise himself as a beautiful angel or even plant thing in your head to trick you into thinking you are doing God's bidding. Only through sincere prayer are you able to tell the two apart.
It was actually based on the bible. The messages were actually from satan on the game. The original story was that Abraham sacrificed a ram instead of Isaac.
This game is amazing! I bought it just to do the holiday achievement and I thought it was gonna suck but holy shit it was amazing! Played 8 hours in total so far and still not even slightly bored
The creator has gone on record that this is not the case. He described the religion being more of a 'catalyst' rather than an actual cause. As you can see the story of his mother trying to kill him didn't actually happen. These are drawings Isaac drew. His reading of the bible has influenced his imaginary world. Though you are right that this game is heavily symbolic, but it's less about religion and more about isolation, detachment from reality, and imagination. A theme present in a lot of Edmund's games I'd like to add.
I'm having trouble getting past the "Caves II" boss but good thing even though you have to starts all over again every single time its completeley different so its never boring! great game well worth the $4.99
Guys! Binding of Isaac is in the new humble indie bundle! Pay more than about 3.5$, and you get it with an addition of 2 other games! (or buy it for cheaper than 3.5$ and you get a game that is still in alpha development.)
Actually Issac get's (SPOILER) by an angel in the end. His mother is supposed to be told by god to kill him. The angel could be a rouge angel, also known as Satan, before he was... well... Satan. So yeah, Satan saved Issac, GO SATAN!
Gamma Gyroid Or Issac could be making it up in his head due to it being drawings. Maybe Issac read the Bible and realized how insane it was, and based his imaginary world in his chest around it.
might be spoilers here but i think from playing the game and mostly just from the intro it seems that isaac really just made the whole story up in his head because hes locked in his room with nothing to do. and how he smiles when he puts up ,the picture
Haha, I get so many responses to that comment! Here in Scandinavia, we say "prosit", a Latin phrase meaning "may it be in your favor". This from the superstition that a sneeze is an omen that could be good or bad for the sneezing one. So, we don't have those kinds of dilemmas - even our language is more secular than yours :D
atheist friends and they are my friends because I respect them and don't force my Christianity down their throats and viceversa. We are friends because we respect each other and don't care about trying to get each other to subscribe to each others personal thoughts. Instead of fighting, we hang out and play games. This is my reasoning behind my top comment. Can't we all just forget what we believe in and prevent that from keeping us to enjoy and discuss a really cool game someone made for us? :)
for the comment that says "no it not" it was my sis she tends to use my account for her own misuse of my account it self so if you see words that are misspelled just do pay any attention i dont want spam
Actually, the analogy does work. You can add spices, and flavorings to the meat. But at it's core, it's still just ham. The same thing you've been chewing on forever. It might look better, and it might have a few new tastes, or a slightly different texture, but it's still same at the core. You're just adding a few more things. And you're wrong about everything looking the same. The further you get into the game, the floors begin to look diverse. Not to mention every room is randomly generated.
Abraham answered:God would give them a sacrifice. As they reached the mountaintop Abraham wanted to kill Isaac with a knife but in the last second an angel arrived and stopped Abraham .He was relieved and sacrificed instead a bull they found struggling in some bushes. i know he trollz but thus was just the story for you all. Hope i didnt make some bad translations.
Well Steam is an online game provider, where you pay for a game and then download it via Steam. Most of the games don't require those long codes you often have to type in, when installing a new game. Also it doesn't require CD's and you can install the games as often as you want on as many computers as you want as the games are linked to your specific profile. Also it's something that powered a lot of machines during the industrial revolution.
As for the church, i haven't been in it for 7 years, but when i did go to confess, i said to the priest about the corruption in the church, he just replied "i know, just do what you gotta do, every one will be judged individually, if the priest is a bad man, he wont get his reward" ... yeah God doesn't punish you, he just doesn't give you the reward that was promised, if you a bad person. But i bet there are more ways to reach the all Might, not only Christianism. so i respect others choices.
Just like what you're doing mister troll. If you're going to toss out that grenade; know that it hits you twice as worse because you're also trying to defend a troll in addition to multiply replies.
That's not the final ending. If you paid attention, you'd realize that all that was just in Isaac's imagination, and mom bursts through the door after he's done fantasizing.
@Mikedahunter777 The funny thing is that part of of that joke is true. First is the fact that the kid's name is Issac. Secondly Issac Clarke's mother was a untoligist herself, she devoted to herself 100% to unitology giving away her money, possesions and giving less care to Issac. But she never tried to kill Issac, from what I know.
The game is based on the biblical account known as The Binding of Issac, which would explain the religious undertones. In the bible, it told of Abraham being told by God to sacrifice his only son Issac. But at the moment he was to kill him, an angel told him gos had been testing him and Abraham had proven his loyalty.
I said this because God's voice wasn't a theory. He actually intervened at one point to save him, so He was definitely real. And Isaac wasn't abused, he was writing a story for the fun of it at the end. When I read your comment, I assumed that you haven't played the game. I was obviously wrong; I apologize.
@video2play4ever It's not anti-religious, it's based on the story from the bible but with it's own weird interpretation and the story itself is pretty open in what it's supposed to mean due to having multiple endings and this trailer being the only real set-up for the story itself.
Not really. I go to Church every week and follow the word of Big G, and I like this game. I know it's not the most positive representation of Christianity in gaming, but who cares? It's just a game and it's a really fun one at that.
