Trastevere is the neighborhood of Rome where Thomas, the guitarist, lives. The song was born in his home and so they gave it this provisional title, but then it remained because they presented it during the concert at the Circus Maximus, also in Rome, and the fans began to call it and request it with this name.
You are calm but incisive and very powerful in your excellent reactions; among the best I've heard so far. Compliments! I will gladly take the journey with you to the wonderful kingdom of the Maneskin. Ciao.🤩
Trastevere is a central district of Rome. I know it well, I lived there. The word trastevere originates from the ancient Latin language (Rome has existed for more than two thousand years) and means beyond the Tevere (Tiber in English), which is the name of the river that runs through the city of Rome. Trastevere is ancient, beautiful and full of stories, old and new; Trastevere is passion, love, drama, art, music, theatre, poetry. It's a great gathering area for those, like the Maneskins, who live nearby. Many stories are born and die in Trastevere and Damiano is slowly letting us know his personal stories.
Hi there, thanks for such an insightful comment. Would sure love to visit that town at some point, sounds like quite an interesting place. Welcome to the Channel!
I agree...they grew up in Monteverde,a midde-upper class neighborhood on a hill right upon Trastevere,i suppose Damiano spent most of his teenage time there...living all the emotional rollercoaster typical of teens...let me remind you to the beginning of " zitti e buoni ",maybe this is the more intimate version of what he wrote there... " They don't know what I'm talking about Dirty clothes in the mud Cigarette yellow between the fingers Me walking with my cigarette Sorry but I believe it a lot That I can make this leap Even if the road is uphill That's why I'm training now And good evening ladies and gentlemen Actors' out You better touch your balls You better stay quiet and good The people here are strange, like pushers Too many nights I was locked out Now I'm going to kick these doors"
Their previous album teatro d'ira vol.I is my favourite album, i recommend the live version of for your love, la paura del buio (theres a live version with subtitles) and you can also find live performances (with subtitles again) of ballads like coraline and le parole lontane
Thank you for your accurate review. 🙏 It will be a pleasure to watch your videos. The song is gorgeous. One of their best and personal works. But it's only the peak of this iceberg called Maneskin. 🙏
Trastevere is a neighborhood in Rome, a very artistic one. FYI, this band has several more outstanding ballads in both English and Italian. If you love the ballads you should check out "The Loneliest", "Torna a Casa"(Come back home, "Coraline", "Vent'anni"(20 years old) and "Le parole lontane"(Distant words). For their Italian ballads you can find fan made videos with well translated English subtitles - especially the "Lafabi" and "Valeria" channels. They also have a lot of really really good up beat songs too, again in both languages. Correct Danish pronunciation of their name is something like "Moh - nah - skin", the bassist Victoria is half Italian and half Danish. However many Italians and others pronounce it like "Mah - nah - skin" and the band uses both of these pronunciations.
The lyrics is about a deal with the devil. Damiano, the singer of the band, due to their musical success, had a blue moment and wrote in this lyrics that the success (devil) wants his life in change...
Yeah, many people that go and say they hear Muse’s influences make me smile a little because it was actually Muse that sounded like some of the alternative electro pop bands around in Italy in the early 2000s like Subsonica to me 😂
Personally i wasn' t referring to italian bands but to the Classic Melody that you can also Hear in the italian Singers songwriters of a few decades ago and in the sound of the guitar. Refreshed and more rock.
Glad to see how well this song is received by so many people! Someone commented elsewhere that it's like an Italian Måneskin song, only in English, and I must agree. Check out songs like Torna a Casa, Coraline, and Vent'anni, and compare them to most of their English speaking songs, and you'll get how Italian in style this one really is. Ps. There's a few different pronounciations of the band's name going around. They've said in interviews that they don't really care how people say it, but in case you want to get it right the correct version is the Danish way. So more like moh-nes-kin. (Måneskin means moonlight in Danish.) The å is closest to "o" in for example the word "hot". (So NOT like "o" in "money".) Most people only see the resemblance to an "a", but å is just not the same letter. (Similarly ä is yet another sound, basically the same as "a" in "hat" or "cat".)
Ciao
Por favor, sigue reaccionando a Måneskin, si quieres algo más fuerte te recomiendo Four you love, Gasoline, Zitti y buoni, o wanna be your slave...
Hello Antonella, thanks for your comment and your support. Very insightful and detailed opinion. It's always interesting and disturbing when musicians sing about making a deal with the devil. I'm glad he is doing better now and the success of the band has come from their hard work and determination!
this song is a masterpiece like their italian ones, i believe this song has to do with the devil trying to influence his life and his family. trastevere is a beutiful area of rome .
