Thanks Don. This was my first loco and it is a great little machine. Steams well and will pull a bit over a tonne which is more than enough on the tracks down here. Look forward to catching up again.
@@jefferyfarrell I have located a Simplex in Chch for sale and start a new job at Alliance group on the 18th of this month so buying a used loco like a Simplex has become more of a reality. I will be attending the April club day in Timaru. Might see ya there, cheers Don
@@jefferyfarrell The chap that owns it is going to hold it for me, hopefully I can get up to chch in late April for a test drive of it, I think it would make a great 1st loco for me
hi Mr f here, Simplex looks great, i wish mine had come together that quick in one video!!!!!. Excuse my ignorance, i'm a beginner at this game, but whats with the large pressure gauge whilst running round the track, i assume its for the boiler inspection but ive never seen that scenario before. regards mr f
Hi Mr F. The Simplex was well made so it was pretty straight forward. My pamela has been in bits over a year now on and off fixing things. In fact i think its taken longer to fix than yours has to build :-) That gauge for the steam test/safety valve testing after the initial boiler testing. At that particular club they liked the owners to have a spare valve so that after the initial test you could shut the valve and remove the gauge. No one had told me this and so since i wanted to play i just kept the gauge on for an hour or so being careful not to damage anything.
@@jefferyfarrell thanks, i understand now, i may put a spare valve on mine for that scenario. Its a very time consuming hobby but with a years worth of rebuild, you've done it proud. great job regards mr f
Fantastic video , I am looking at a 5inch Simplex as my 1st locomotive - must have a closer look at your one when we meet up next. Cheers Don

Fingers crossed you can get it. I’m hoping to be there as well and hopefully have my Q wagon in tow.

DON speden, they are definitely a good first loco. I’ve had mine about 18 years and still love driving it. 😁
What a stunning loco!
Thanks :-) It's fun to drive as well. I have another I'm building at the moment so hopefully that will be running sometimes in the next year or so.
