Although this was a bit of fun, as long as I am making the recipe from scratch, it's kind of interesting too. I genuinely would like to try and make some completely dedicated colours - like the green Big Mac, some of that an be naturally dyed too! Anyhow, hope you enjoy and yep it did taste good - it's still in the fridge!
Tip: when you use a blender to make mayo, use a tall narrow container - a jar or the blender jug. Less mess and the mayo actually comes together quicker, plus you can keep it in the jar so no bowl to wash. BTW don't forget to buy green tomatoes for the green Big Mac - you can often find them in the "heritage mix" boxes in independent green grocers.
Fun fact : the most popular "sauce" like this here in Iceland is called Kokteilsósa, which thankfully has nothing in common with Cocktailsauce anywhere else. It's essentially just ketchup and mayonnaise BUT we don't destroy our mayo with Mustard or Vinegar so it's not a sour ruined mess. It's also brilliant pink 🩷
Right off the top of my head I know red cabbage can be used to dye things. I'm not sure If you've ever tried this before but you can lightly crack hard boiled eggs and then dye them by boiling them in tea with the shells still on. I've also heard of this being done with onion skin but I'm not sure how well that would go.
That is an intense pink color. I've seen similar stuff before but it's just mayo and ketchup in a 1:1 ratio. Yours was proper neon pink. I like the idea of the green big mac. Makes me think of the pretty patties from Spongebob.
Use a tall container and make the mayo all it one. It's way quicker and easier. Just put the egg, Dijon, vinegar and seasoning at the bottom add the oil then using an immersion blender start at the bottom and raise it gradually. Works every time for me.
Top tip for mayo made with a stick blender- Most come with a tall, thin beaker/jar which the mixer can be dipped in. Put ALL the ingredients in the jar, insert blender, mix. Instant mayo (well, ten-ish seconds).
Ooh, on the coleslaw front, a local cafe who makes their own once made some pink colelsaw I think unintentionally, cos they used red cabbage in it instead of the normal white, and as a result, it all turned pink, was quite a funny thing to see and I wish I'd instagrammed it... :P
There is a much easier way to make mayonnaise with a stick blender. Just put oil in a jar big enough that a stick blender can fit. Crack an egg into the oil and add a pinch of salt. Place the stick blender over the egg and keep it held down and turn on. Count for 20 seconds whilst the egg and oil are combining. Then after 20 seconds lift the stick to combine all the oil. Hey presto - Mayonnaise. Then you can add lemon juice and blend in with the stick blender.
I do feel like coloured recipes should only go for food dye if there is absolutely no way to get the colour some other way. Like that TikTok Pink sauce used Dragon Fruit Extract to get its colour, I wonder if that would work here instead. Plus that in a red Cabbage Coleslaw to make it even pinker! If you do go forward with coloured recipes, I always love it when recipes dont use food dye to colour it.
When you pour it into bottle you can use chopstick or something thats bit narrower than neck of funnel to speed up proces. And you can use freezing bags then cut off top and pour it in seconds. Thats what we use in kitchen.
Oh hee great homemade attempt! The heinz stuff seems to use beetroot extract for the vivid pepto bismol pink - being heinz though, the store bought stuff is foul, tastes like salad cream with smoke extract
As an American I've never seen a mayo BBQ sauce let alone a pink one. Usually our BBQ sauces are more runny, with a consistency between water all the way to molasses depending on the binder. Gotta try some mayo BBQ
What fun 🎉 I've got a family reunion this summer so maybe some pink sauce and clear ketchup. I'm hunting for the clear now. Thanks for making our days a bit happier 😊
Mayo at home is way quicker and easier to make than the method you demonstrated and...foolproof. When using a stick blender use a container that is only slightly larger in diameter than the blender head (a 20oz Yeti sized vessel is perfect). You can add all of your ingredients at once, in any order. Just add all ingredients and blend (don't move the blender) until the liquid emulsifies and rises above the blender head. Then you can move the blender as you wish. I call it 1 minute mayo.
White BBQ Sauce is very good! Give it a try. I make chicken in the crock pot and put the white BBQ sauce on after I it's done and pulled apart. Yummmm!!!
@mrbarrylewis here in Australia we have something called Tomusto sauce - which is a mix of tomato ketchup and mustard (the sweet american style mustard) - you should have a crack at that one day!
0:55 Gonna be honest, I prefer our German version by Thomy. It's in a tube and comes out as stripes of ketchup and mayo. Much more fun, especially as a kid.
Always find it interesting how people (including yourself in the cookie dough recipe) refuse to eat raw eggs... But then you go and and stick your finger into what is basically just raw egg and oil and eat it without a problem...
Why haven’t I seen this in stores? I’ve just been in Waitrose and Asda and was in the sauce aisle. Looks like I need another visit, I can’t even use the excuse I didn’t have my glasses one!
During the livestream I asked about the chicken situation as I couldn't remember if you said you weren't or couldn't and low and behold, another trip to the supermarket for eggs in the next vid :)
@@mrbarrylewis It's definitely different from this, but it looks like the same general idea is there. It has a similar mayo base, but instead of adding BBQ sauce to it, you add vinegar, brown sugar, spices and horseradish.
@@samn6498 Go for it! There's nobody to judge your fridge contents, and even if they do, you're old enough to tell them where to shove their opinion 😁

Honestly, why not a rainbow burger? Multiple patties, dyed cheese slices, dyed bread and so on. Rainbow fries, too. And a rainbow milk shake!
You went to buy eggs for the mayo - and didn't grab a pink grapefruit while you were there? I am disappoint.

He used pink food coloring so of course it's pink 😂
Barry a green Big Mac for St. Paddies day would be cool with green fries and a green milkshake
It's like a Pepto Bismol BBQ Style
haha yes!
Yup makes me gag looking at it
"there's only one person I know that's a good judge of pink this vibrant"

You blew the pink sauce girl out of the water with color and a legit edible product xD
I love to see you make your own version of a hot sauce
That's a great idea!

nice! Yeah red cabbage has that impact!
About 15 years ago, we had a green and a purple Ketchup. My kids were thrilled. I was grossed out.😂
The heinz colors
We had the colors here in Canada and my daughter and I really liked the colors but my wife would not have any 😂
It was closer to 25-30 years ago now i think, i was in single digits and had purple
That's close to a recipe that a Chinese restaurant used to make. They called it rose pork. The company changed hands and no longer offered it.

Beetroot would be even better, and yes, red cabbage for coleslaw.

This has potential for next year's April Fool's day. 😂
I'd love to see a pink food series!
Ketchup and mayo in equal quantities is called Rose Marie sauce here. Used on prawn cocktails.
Nice to see that you carefully turned all the labels around at the beginning so that we wouldnt think you were advertising Sainsbury's products 😉
Bayayaaaaah!!! Another new video to watch over and over again. 😁
love it cheers
You should do the pretty patties from spongebob, and show how to safely dye the brioche buns!

Reminds me of the Futurama episode on Mars where they have a buggalo BBQ with pepto bismol for sauce 🤣
If you really want to see something both bonkers and colorful, look up what happens when you introduce citrus to butterfly pea flower tea.
When you squeezed it out all I could think of was Teletubby Custard
So fun! Yes do all the colors one meal at a time! How fun is that!🎉
Ooooh that one pink chef chick gonna be shooting birds jumping like Yosemite Sam 😂😂😂😂
Oh no
*The Pink Sauce is back*
White bbq sauce is called Bama bbq suace(created in Alabama) its used as a dipping sauce.NEVER COOKED IN OVEN.
For a non-egg mayo, you can actually use unsweetened soy milk! It's fantastic, and the taste is so creamy and neutral :)

Ketchup and mayo with relish is thousand Island 👍

I like the idea of green big mac and i want to see some purple waffles 😂
Love your videos. It looks like you made Pepto-Bismol 🤣🤣
cheers!
Definitely yes to a green Big Mac, and I'd love to see a side-by-side of artificial vs natural dye!
"Come on down to Barry's. If your Barry-cue sauce isn't stiletto pink, you're not doing it right."
6:57 What Barry was trying to say about the food dyes was... Barbie pink annnndd HOOKER pink.
excellent. I am going to have to try to make my own mayonnaise, and then go further to pink BBQ sauce. Good one Barry!!!
I had purple ketchup once and it went over great with the kids. I liked it but haven't been able to find it again.
Awesome!! Great job!
You could definitely do a 🌈 rainbow playlist of colored meals 😁👍

Pink wafers?
@@mrbarrylewisyes, but instead of strawberry flavor, do something really unexpected like caramel or even savory!
Can confirm it’s real, it’s on the shop floor in Tesco
heads up next time you use that coloring use the emulsion blender, idk if its just frosting but a little really goes along way

A burger with green buns, a clear burger, orange onions? and black cheese
Another fun video as always! Thanks Barry, i love your videos ❤❤❤❤

when i lived in Australia they had a black zinger burger from KFC could do a full black burger lol
Barbiecue sauce is very real! My mom and sister bought some home yesterday and it's VERY pink but is also really delicious!
I am so over the Barbie thing, but it's fun watching you!
Heinz saucysauce is elite!
This reminds me of the pink sauce drama 😅
"make a green big mac" barry you are making a pretty patty
It is real as I saw it in Tesco today

The darker the better please.
First I thought you will make the viral Pink Sauce which was made with dragonfruit apparently to give it it's pink color.
You could just have thrown all the mayo ingredients in a tall beaker and wizzed it up, it works every time
Mmmmm Pepto Bismol pulled pork, just like mom use to make XD
Joking aside, that's really awesome Mr. Lewis
Idea for another use for the Sauce barry: A salmon with a glaze made from it. Plus mashed potatoes on the side
nice

Well, at least with Barry, I hope he doesn't try to create literal poison.
Great video
had never heard of BarbieQ sauce, but google tells me that Mattel and Heinz have teamed up to make it... interesting...
You missed out on the Himalayan salt as this is naturally pink.
“Homemade BBQ sauce” I can feel the seethe of the states already… 😂
Technically, this is Alabama style white sauce with some food coloring. The rest of us aren't claiming it but there is precedent
Try a colour changing series.
If you are doing Green, it should be a HULK SMASH burger
That's brilliant - just needs to be a bit more pink as it looks a bit pale ...
Fantastic job & this Barry 😊👌
I'm being reminded of those Ez Squirt coloured ketchups Heinz did. I suspect you'd do a better job of making them more palatable.
maybe barry should sell the sauce and ship it in hot weather
obviously i'm joking
Spongebobs PRETTY PATTIES
that kid is lost in the sauce
i mix BBQ sauce and mayonnaise all the time
Great combo, we mix ketchup and mayo sometimes on the plate with certain foods

So this is basically a take on Alabama white sauce. Very interesting.
Does Alabama white sauce still taste like BBQ sauce?

Never made a Swedish red beetroot sallad? It's mayo based and very extremely bright pink, the coloring coming from the beets.
I have heard of that exactly 1 minute ago, so nope, but sounds good!
You should do Green Eggs and Ham 😂😂😂
You could've used beetroot powder to give it a real vibrant colour
