Thank you for this video, it has certainly opened my eyes up to a topic I had never ever thought of on Social media. I guess there are always those people in any competition who feel the need to cheat. Perhaps they already know that they are not going to win on talent alone. Sad to hear this happened in the art community. 😢
It's great you talked about this topic. I believe some people do get some more likes on that specific post naturaly but there could some people who paid for bots to like the post. I have seen a youtuber called Shane do a video where he buys bots for all sorts of things as a joke and he joked about it being a baby farm where people give babies a phone and let the play with it. XD but in all honesty i believe it is wrong. People who try hard to get some likes on they're post get pushed down because of bots. They get discouraged by all of these popular accounts with more likes and more folowers. Thank you for touching on this topic Julia :) and the artwork you did with the brushmarkers/promarkers was amazing. I personally could not have made something out of those lines.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here! This whole bot issue can be really discouraging sometimes. But as Nasreen pointed out here in the comments: "Don't hate the players, hate the game". So this is simply how it works nowadays and I do accept the rules. And I really believe that you can grow on your own, you just need to find your niche and be creative and patient :) It's also really bad for companies that don't know about bots. They might think a person is very popular on Instagram and they pay lots of money for an ad. But in the end their product is just liked by bots and they make large financial losses that way. And thank you for your kind words about my artwork :D I didn't really have an idea what to do first when I looked at these lines. But I simply started scribbling and slowly I got an idea what I can do with these lines ;D
Junifarben Illustration that is so true! I think winsor and newton thought this through enough and some dificulties happened. Also the fact that the winsor and newton markers are a bit expensive is another way people become discouraged. Some people have some alchohol markers and they don't want to buy more. I think if W&N would have chosen about 10 or something people who get a small pack of the markers it would have been a bit better. Cause only really big art channels get them for free like Baylee Jae. And no problem! I think you were very creative when you made the piece :)

Yeah, I totally agree with you Dory! It's also very unfair to companies, because they offer to collaborate with you in expactation that this collab is beneficial for both partners. The video creator/person on Instagram gets money from the company, the companies gets more attention on their products in return. But when the companies spends money to just get the attention of bots in return, something is really going the wrong direction.
This is why I hardly ever enter big competitions like this because I feel they are either rigged or the most popular people win. This is really bad and now everyone knows and the company looks stupid. I mean if you are going to host a competition on social media, at least have a basic idea how s.m works.

So in the end the winner was clever. It was not a very honorable way to win the prize, but it was not against the rules XD So I really think that this topic should get more attention when even big companies don't really know anything about bots.

I can only say this, as an artist his integrity is beneath low and every time he uses those markers he will know that he won not because his art is amazing but because he cheated every single person who truly tried the honest way. The name of the prize was 'people's choice' not 'bots choice'. It is a pity because he is a good artist... just a crappy human being.
Yeah, I totally agree with the quote you brought up here! We just need to accept that bots are largely used nowadays. That's neither good nor bad, it just is how it is. I don't really care about a simple number. I can't count the subscribers I do have here on RUclips by myself, it is RUclips telling me that. What if RUclips is wrong and suddenly I am losing thousands of subscribers? I don't need a specific number to push my self-esteem or to feel good. It's way more important to me to really get in contact with my viewers. And this isn't possible with millions of bots.
Interesting. Depends on how good the post was, it could have gone viral if it was good or unique. but then surely if the are was that good then wouldnt more people follow unless they dont post regular.
I think it is good that you did this video. Some do it to get more attention. I would never use them. That's the same for people that are like Hey sub to me I will sub back if you do. I only subscrobe and follow people that I like the work of and I also want people to follow me because they like what I do. But one of my friends was like: "Wouldn´t it be easier to grow if you did that??" And I was kind of like shocked and told her that I don´t want fake followers so that just my subs grow but they aren´t interacting and don´t even like what I do really!
I doubt Winsor & Newton has anyway to verify real likes from fake ones.
