Please don't plant periwinkle/Vinca Vine in your soil. They are gorgeous and beautiful in hanging baskets and temporary containers but they should be thrown away when they outgrow the container or basket. They're not native and they are aggressive spreaders that smother all.

While it's often praised for its beautiful, low-maintenance ground cover qualities and charming flowers, Vinca can be highly invasive outside of its native habitat. Its rapid spreading and rooting capabilities allow it to quickly dominate areas, outcompeting native plants and reducing biodiversity.
Using it in containers and hanging baskets is a great suggestion because it contains the plant's spread, allowing gardeners to enjoy its beauty without risk to local ecosystems. Disposing of it responsibly when it outgrows its container is also crucial to prevent accidental spread into natural areas.
Thank you for pointing out the importance of being mindful about where and how to use non-native plants like Vinca. Your advice helps promote more sustainable gardening practices that protect our natural environments. If you or anyone else is looking for alternative ground covers that are less invasive and more environmentally friendly, there are many native plants to consider that can fulfill a similar aesthetic role without the ecological risks.

Ferns, snow drops, brunnera (Siberian Bugloss) Hostas are the only non invasive on this list. The others listed I would not plant in my yard. As the other commenter said about Vinca minor this list should include invasive warnings.
Do your research before purchasing plants you are unfamiliar with.
