Due to the length of the video, alot of my questions were cut out - he was such a lovely guy to talk with though, had a blast doing this interview :). Joey @ TC
I love how articulate John Petrucci describes his tone end rigs... So willing to share! Too bad im not too into his style yet. That said, awesome guitarist he is!
John always has the mega-expansive rig. It really works for him and I love his tones. I am a simple guitar/couple of pedals/amp type player. I appreciate seeing what players of John's talent and financial status use all the time.
Hiya, Just to clarify, we didn't actually go through the pedals with Matty at this time. You're right, he is using several MXR pedals and I'm pretty sure he has them listed on his site. I agree, the eventide harmoniser is awesome too. John is actually using the M3000's now instead of the 2290 and has been for the last year. Best wishes, Joey @ TC
@UncleJoey12 Hiya, To keep the length of the video short, most of my questions etc were cut out. I'm also a musician and did indeed know what he was talking about :). Best wishes, Joey @ TC
what I liked most is John wa given the freedom not only to answer the quetions but give reasons why he does it..it wasnt one of those here John you have to answer 114,2 questions in 30 seconds..we got to hear from the guy using the stuff..why he's using it..good job

Hi, Tc Electronic. I was wondering what is the closet sounding pedals that sound identical to the delay of the M3000 and the chorus of the 1210. Thanks a lot!
"I don't use as many reverbs on guitar but when I do it sounds unbelievable." --> lol and the thing with "chuck norris staus" for he has that status since years. Its quite as easy to make alike jokes. ^^ but he rocks!
why doesn't anyone ever ask him about the piezo setup he has.....is he connecting directly to front of the house or does he have any singal processor between?
''You look at my rack and it might look big and complicated, it's very straight ahead as far as what I'm trying to do with it'' ...... this sounded sooo ambiguous for me xDDDD
Also, the interview with JP and that woman was a bit wierd... I mean, she must've been so disinterested and bored thinking about new shoes, while waiting for the interview job to be over with.. Then again she might be a guitarist herself, and very tuned in towards the interview.
Hmmm... he uses TC delays... but I see a tone-sucking Boss DD-20 in the rack behind him during the interview. It cannot be his rack.... maybe he uses it for "analog delay"??
The video title says " Petrucci's gear rundown" so I thought they would show everything he's using. Title should have been Petrucci TC Electronics gear rundown instead. but who cares.. lol it's just youtube
ugh... I'm nowhere near understanding how to multi-amp, does John slave his amps into each other, or is he just running the seperate Mark V's into separate channels? or rather, what's a good resource to start understanding how to run a stereo rig? Because everybody that works in my local guitar store knows about 1% of everything I know :[
Check out that little mesa express in the background! John Petrucci = musical bliss
oh my god thankyou TC so much better than any of the other rig rundowns!

john is such an accomodating guy and even with his fame there is just no arrogance. amazing guy..

@CollinGuitarStuff I'd recommend to give our Flashback Delay and the Corona Chorus a shot, and see if you can dial in the sounds on them..
Great interview! also good to see an Aussie out there!
@pandamanparty That's his B rig for smaller venues. In this video they are discussing the A rig.

I love TC stuff.. brilliant
@77JeffT Thanx for sharing !!
tcelectronic/jens
@GianmariaPastore I'd place it before the preamp.
john is such an accomodating guy.
Cool. He now uses the Mark V!
just take a look at his warm-up rig.
i bet it sounds better than many guitarist main rig!!
@JIM7853 woops got the time wrong, but its somewhere around there
look at his practice rig!!! holy shit its huge!!!!! do you really need all of that just for pracitce backstage?
@knikk77 Oh i see now... it is his practising rig. Theres an axe-fx there too...
Axe FX in the practice room! :D
@tcelectronic HAHAHAHHA! Nice one Joey! One should never judge people's apparences!
I see that he is also using the Axe FX from Fractal Audio.
the interesting thing is the AXE-FX at the back stage (behind the girl) . . .
Fucking love petrucci!!!!!!! love TC also!
Hi, Tc Electronic. I was wondering what is the closet sounding pedals that sound identical to the delay of the M3000 and the chorus of the 1210. Thanks a lot!
I here trying to figure out how can you hook up three beast amps like these in stereo.. =\
"I don't use as many reverbs on guitar but when I do it sounds unbelievable." --> lol
and the thing with "chuck norris staus" for he has that status since years. Its quite as easy to make alike jokes. ^^ but he rocks!
@drenzium Its right there above that girls head interviewing him. AXEFX and the Recto Poweramp.
@77JeffT Is the Tube Screamer the only dist he uses? :o
JP prefers mesa boogie amps, but i find that the same tone can be achieved from blackstar amps. IMO, blackstar makes THE best amps for the price.
@tcelectronic wow that's great to see a girl musician as into it as us (mostly male populated) gear heads are!!
i like the interviewer lol

@77JeffT doesnt he just use axe fxs and mark 5 now?
Its charging, thats the battery icon it shows when the iPod isn't on.
Anyone know what flycase is the right up one?
Does Petrucci has a God-mode switch on his amplifier?
kk thanks for the answering
that m3000 should be pretty good then!
What amp is at the bottom of his backstage rig?
WTF?!?! John's Rig is bigger than our fridge!
hahaha 4:45 "if you look at the rack it may look big..."
0:38-0:46 I think everyone wants that, john LOL
@scarfr156 Yeah but they renamed it to Petrucci-mode switch, because John thought the name "God" was unfit for his technique.
I can't believe he beeefffed up that much. I miss skinny petruci.
@schlagdog Touche!!
is that an iPod?
"anything john can think of, this rack can do"
wrong. anything the rack can think of, john can do
It seems like every single guitar tech I've ever seen always looks like Humpty Dumpty.
@UncleJoey12 hhahaha owned
He uses the distortion from his amp.
what happened with the tc contest???? by the way... PETRUCCI RULES!!!! see you on march 24th :):):):):
lol, all that super equipment and on the top, like on of the first ipod's lol.
Also, the interview with JP and that woman was a bit wierd... I mean, she must've been so disinterested and bored thinking about new shoes, while waiting for the interview job to be over with.. Then again she might be a guitarist herself, and very tuned in towards the interview.

but who cares.. lol

@tweekin001 lol
There's a ball of fur hanging around his mouth.
Hurry up and simplify your rig to the AxeFX and a Mesa Boogie poweramp. It is inevitable.
Not yet...lol. I don't see JP EVER using a digital preamp except for warming up on the road, or at home.
@BRYANABSGMA hahahaha
kurk hammet
it's a t.c. electronic video... why would they put anything other than their products in it? effect wise. amp companies don't count.
That tcelectronics girl is pretty
ugh... that ipod looks like a dinosaur. haha
the girl is hot...
JP rules at guitar playing but totally sucks at goaties... =)
Have you actually played the "toy"? It'll never replace the amps but the Axe-Fx is anything but a toy.
