  • Homemade Cordial just like grandma used to make. With only 2 ingredients it doesn't get much simpler. Keeps for 2-3 months in the fridge. Use to make kid friendly drinks and to add something special to adult friendly cocktails!

This is the first recipe with not boiling water and sugar will definitely try thanks 😊

I hope you enjoy it! With the warmer spring weather, homemade cordial is beautifully refreshing.

I made this yesterday following your method exactly and it turned out amazing. I used lemons, mandarines, oranges, and limes. The raw sugar I used took a long time to get 'sludgy' in the bowl of peels so I ended up speeding it up a bit by sitting the bowl on top of a smaller bowl with hot water in it. Thanks for this video - I think I'll be making cordial like this for years to come now that I know how :-)

I love the citrus combo cordials!! I'm glad it turned out so well. Great idea to heat up the mixture gently to get the sugar to dissolve. Enjoy!!! Sandra x

I love this way of making the cordial. Can it be stored unopened on the shelf?

Its a great method! I have stored it on the shelf (cool and dark) without issue but you may find if it gets warm it will try and ferment!

@@coasttocountryaustralia Ah ok - thankyou. That's great to know - I'm guessing it won't sit there for long anyway being so yummy. ☺ How long have you stored if for? Would I need to do anything 'fancy' to seal the lids, if I'm recycling a Passata bottle or similar?

Is the Blue Lake still blue? Lovely recipe. Thank you.

The Blue Lake IS still blue! It is starting to change to its winter colours but we are still being treated to some electric blue days. It is at its most brightest between October and April. ♡

@@coasttocountryaustralia I'm so happy to hear that. I have fond memories of a short break in Mt Gambier. We had a blue lake in Derbyshire, but the police dyed it black during lockdown to stop people going to admire it. Idiots. As far as I know, it hasn't gone back to blue.

The world really did go CRAZY!!?! I hope your lagoon returns to its natural beauty soon. I read a couple of articles about it. The stupidity of certain decisions continues to amaze me. Sandra x

Thank you for this! I’ve seen other recipes where they also add hot water. What are your thoughts on that? Never made a cordial before but im realizing that every recipe is different haha.

Hi - the hot water would be to make sure the sugar dissolves. Personally I haven't found the need but there's no reason that you couldn't do it. Enjoy!!

Do you just add cold water to it in a glass afterwards
